February 1, 201610 yr You don't get rid of players like John Terry, it's f**king ludicrous. These type of players decide when they leave the club, not the f**king board. Terry should be retiring as a Chelsea player. There couldn't be a worse time for this to happen. No Champions League football next season ( most likely ) and nobody left at the club that understands or knows everything about the club. f**king disgusting decision by the club. I don't care if this comes across as a knee jerk reaction but this decision has made me hate the club as it is right now. One of our greatest ( the greatest in my opinion ) just waved away like another player. Everything about this stinks. There is no loyalty at this club, none at all. I have been supporting Chelsea since 1959. JT is the best defender we have ever had and is still playing well. Has the Chelsea board got any idea how good JT is? At the club from age 14 , a man who clearly loves the club and the fans. JT is a legend and deserves more respect. Common sense should dictate: give the man another season at least, followed by a coaching role - and eventually manager? This board have shown nothing but contempt for the fans - Benitez, Lampard, Mourinho, JT: the board's actions are not only a disgrace but an indication of the brainless individuals who just don't have a clue.
February 1, 201610 yr I mean he looks on and see’s Ivan who has been an utter disaster this season being rewarded with a year’s extension while the club captain is made to just twiddle his thumbs and wait till the club see’s fit to address him…..after dealing with others. Ivanovic is on less than half the salary. He took a large pay cut last year and probably took another big one this year. The board may have figured that if he regains form then great, and if he doesn't then it wasn't so much money wasted (by Chelsea standards). To be fair, John Terry is overpaid. He makes around the same as Willian and Azpilicueta combined. He's definitely not the only overpaid player, but the others can be, and likely will be, sold. They got £25 million for Ramires after all. You can't sell John Terry because of his history with the club. I hope the non-renewal was due to not being able to agree on salary, and that this is posturing, and one side will eventually give in. That's more palatable than them not wanting him period. With a club like Chelsea, money disagreements are easy to solve. Deeper personal issues are much more difficult.
February 1, 201610 yr If this had have happened this time next year, we'd all acting the same, he has to go sometime, better if he goes now, bows out with us the Top, Gerrard became a shadow of his former self by thinking he could still strut his midfield stuff, plus his high wage may be a factor, if he goes Cesc next captain imho..
February 1, 201610 yr Be interesting to see how this will impact us on the field. On one side, let's make this the JT's last hurrah and win something for him. It could backfire if players start to question the club and worry about their own future here. We will find out very quickly. I look at Gerrard's last season, an absolute disaster, they were so much better without him. I honestly believe next season will be an uphill struggle for JT, he definitely won't get 40+ games season. Needless to say, it will be wonderful to have him around just because of his aura in the dressing room. However, is he happy to play a reduced role?
February 1, 201610 yr Emenalo is up to his old tricks again i see. Does anybody at our club know football?! I thought we had ended this bloody circus.
February 1, 201610 yr John Terry has a contract. He may have one next season depending on who we hire. Why everyone is in panic mode I dont know. From the sound of it the club had asked him to wait for the new manager before a contract was offerred. If I remember correctly this isnt the first time JT has been down to the last 6 months of his contract

Cesc? f**k no

I was in agreement with you right up to the bold bit, sarcasm I hope !
February 2, 201610 yr It doesn't seem that long ago that lots of people were saying David Luiz should be the next captain!!
February 2, 201610 yr Guardiola, luis Enrique, and someone have all gone on to have success at clubs where they idolised as a player. Giggs and zidane are being pushed in that direction too. I would love jt to be a managerial success here, but he needs to cut his teeth first, whether that's with the youth teams, or at another club I'm not sure. We have been blessed with fantastic leaders in the last decade or so, we really need to take advantage and have them heavily involved with the future of the club.
February 2, 201610 yr The money argument is illogical, who cares if the player is 24 or 39? The fact that it's John Terry and his irreplaceable value aside, It's a ONE year contract for an important first team player that is going to make around 45-55 appearances if fit. That's just a lame justification for the horrendous decisions Roman, Emenalo, Granovskaia and the rest of the morons currently ruining everything good in the club. The owner and his board are so clueless and out of touch it's laughable, unfortunately as long as the same people are making the decisions here, I see this club going down in status every year. This time we don't have the best manager in the world or a legendary group of players to bail them out. That's what happens when you surround yourself with unqualified yes men, turned this club into a soulless circus.

February 2, 201610 yr Might be the day we win a league cup every couple of seasons because that's where I see our future under the current management. Especially now when we can have two ambitious forces from Manchester as competition from next season. What's the vision and direction of the club right now? It seems like we're making decisions on the spot in the hope that something works, aimlessly offering/buying players and managers, we're basically back to where we were 3 years ago, a non factor competitively with an unbalanced team. But yeah, let's concentrate on the important things, like releasing your best captain, defender and leader.
February 2, 201610 yr Poor timing from JT to come out with this. Don't know what his motivation is but we were starting to get a wee bit of a feel good factor going after beating the Arse & a good cup win. Now we're getting dragged down again. Frustrating.
February 2, 201610 yr In answer to my bold prediction, who else, if it's Brana that's guaranteed game time, Cahill, no one seems to rate him, so if Cesc is a mainstay why not, he was excellent as The Gooners youngest Capt, and seems to be back on song, JTs presence as Captain would be massively understated..

Don't know what his motivation is but we were starting to get a wee bit of a feel good factor going after beating the Arse & a good cup win. Now we're getting dragged down again. Frustrating. I agree, but he is probably seething about the decision and has just vented his anger in the only way he knows how
February 2, 201610 yr This is just another sign that the board don't have a clue what is important to this club and it's fans. We're in trouble at the moment and JT is one of the few links to the Chelsea that most of us would recognise as our Chelsea. We've had link after link taken away from us and been served up with things like the fat Spanish waiter, and at some point surely enough is enough.
February 2, 201610 yr If you think of reasons why we are looking to get rid of him: 1. He is old 2. He is not on the level he used to be 3. Chelsea wants to approach a more adventurous way of playing. The third I think is the key. We can't play a high line with John. We have tried and failed again and again. He doesn't have the style or the legs for it. Chelsea is restricted in a way because of him. On the other hand he is one the best in what he does when we defend like he wants it. We are extremely hard to break down. I think it is down to philosofy. I think it is near impossible to change our system and be successful at this transformation. Roman might want both. I have no idea whether this is the reason but when you are claiming the board and Emenalo to be clueless and stupid you need to think for a while the reasons.
February 2, 201610 yr I actually think Cesc would be a good choice for captain. It's between him and Dave for me, we don't really have any other leaders in the team.
February 2, 201610 yr Maybe a new manager is in place at the end of the season, maybe new manager has laid out his plans with Roman, maybe JT , Rameries, etc don't fit in the new plan. Why would Chelsea fork out another 10m if that was to be the case. Just a thought.
February 2, 201610 yr We need to put our words into action.....and get some banners up to show the madam CEO and Roman that we ain't happy....and demonstrate at all of the Upcoming Chelsea matches. This is what JT wants us to do... That's why he released the news on Sunday.......he wears his heart on his sleeve, and he is internally seething with the amount of disdain being shown to him by the Madam CEO that runs Chelsea purse strings. JT couldn't keep the bad news to himself and stew on it any longer, he has probably had an idea about being rejected a new contract for some time, as after spending more than 20 years with the club, he is aware of what's going on around him, including gossip leaking from board level and he certainly knows how to play the media game. The ball is now in the hands of the CEO to either back down and give him a new 1 year contract at wages to be negotiated ( we hope that she sense and does the and quickly ) or make it abundantly clear that he won't be given anything, one way or the other. As otherwise the media circus pressure on everyone at the club may ( I hope it doesn't, but some of our players seem to be very touchy by what gets said & printed the media........Especially Fabregas ! ) massively impact negatively on our players performance, then the sh*t will hit the fan ! If he does leave, I can't wait for his book to come out and the media to release to us, why most of the dressing room fell out with Jose.
February 2, 201610 yr I actually think Cesc would be a good choice for captain. It's between him and Dave for me, we don't really have any other leaders in the team. The captain should be someone we all look to, respect and believe would give his all for the cause shouldn't he? That isn't Cesc. Years ago we had our pick from Cech, JT, Ashley, Lamps, Maka, Didier, Ballack etc. We had MEN in the team. Now we don't have anyone close to that level. If we're going to pick anyone, I'd have Courtois though. More experience than almost anyone else, one of the very few world-class players we have and guaranteed to start every game he's available for.
February 2, 201610 yr I think JT still gets another year. I think he might even play hardball with the club.
February 2, 201610 yr We need our world wide scouting department to specifically recruit top quality proven international players with character and leadership skills who can speak about 4 different languages, hopefully including English. Instead of recruiting hasbeens and Cuadrado type imbeciles !
