Romelu Lukaku

Who is confusing crosses and defence splitting passes? When I talk about crosses i talk crosses when I want to mention defence splitting passes I will mention them, I don't see where this confusion is coming from.

And yes as you can see from the video almost all of Lukaku's goals were either put on a plate for him or were as a result of having ridiculous amount of space to run through and score or defensive unforced errors like the back pass from the Bournemouth player and Vertonghen's slip.

And no I'm not saying Lukaku only scores because of the space he gets, I'm saying that is part of it, it definitely helps him when he doesn't have to play against a parked bus.

And I agree Costa doesn't gamble enough he usually waits for a cut back, but i would also say his teammates should know this by now. But fact is Lukaku isn't much better, when he gets on the end of balls played across the 6 yard box I have seen him miss plenty. I remember his miss at Stamford Bridge from a few yards out in 2015, his open goal Miss against Holland and another open goal miss against Bosnia. So you can talk about quality of service but Lukaku is known for missing easy chances.

And if Hazard, De Bruyne, Carrasco and Mertens can't make him look good I doubt Fabregas will make much more of a difference especially as he doesn't play many minutes.

Hazard, KDB, Carrasco, Mertens need to look good themselves on the international circuit. Lukaku might not have set the international stage on fire, but the whole belgian contingent has massively underperformed. Lamps never was as successful for England, or DD for Coast, it in no way should be reflective to club football or we may end up buying James instead.

Go back to my first post, when I said, who in the everton team has half the talent/vision to put in a pass of that quality, and you replied with the "service" that Lukaku gets. So what exactly is am I supposed to make of that? Thats the only reason I have said that you are confusing crosses to defence splitting passes.

I wont call "put on a plate". Most of the goals were lukaku getting between 2 defenders and out jumping them to score. I would say that very DD-like.

Moses and Alonso provide the width and in most cases do 2 things: pass it back/central to keep possession or  whip it in. Last night was the perfect example. When Azpi/Cesc finds our WBs with good enough space just at the edge of the box, what are they supposed to do with it? Pass it backk. Its a basic run/gamble that Costa needs to take irrespective if he likes doing it or not.

As for the next part of your post, I can cite tens of examples from this season where costa has been put through on goal and missed. Strikers miss, most do, even messis and CRs of the world are going to miss. So I am just going to put that part of your post down as a Biased opinion, because for the life of me, I cant understand how Lukaku playing for everton has the same goals as  Costa playing for chelsea in the same time frame. If he misses more than costa does, then everton would probably have to create more than chelsea does which is just hogwash.

He is not good enough for Chelsea.... there is a reason we got rid of him once... I wouldn't give u 7 million for him let alone 70 million.. never scores in big games... u show me a video against any top five team where he has shown he is worth that sort of money like costa has....

We got rid of him because deuded Mourinho would rather use a sh*tty Torres, average Demba Ba and sign an old Eto'o instead of promoting Lukaku after a fantastic season on loan. That's like saying there is a reason we got rid of KDB and he's not worth squat anymore. Mourinho made mistakes, selling Lukaku was one of them.

of course anyone can miss chances but I am talking about open goals and easy tap in opportunities, Lukaku misses more of those than any other big name striker.

to cut a long story short, I don't agree that Lukaku doesn't get good service because he does and I don't believe he score more goals at Chelsea because of having better players around him, Lukaku has proven throughout his career so far he did better when playing for weaker teams, For West Brom and Everton he looks good, for Chelsea and Belgium he looks very average.

and lastly I don't see the board going against Conte, if they do he won't be Chelsea manager for much longer, Conte is a big fan of Morata and I'm sure that's the guy Conte wants, I don't mind Lukaku as a 2nd choice striker which may end up being the case next season, but as 1st choice striker under Conte it's not going happen.

ummm.

A striker has scored: 2 goals against city (one each in 2 games) and 1 against spurs

B striker has scored: 1 against pool, 1 against city.

Let me see if you can guess which striker is A and B.

He said against a top 5 team.

That's the same team that finished 1st the year before and 1st this year. Same Courtois, same captain Cahill and same Dave that he ran past with ease and finished with expert precision.

I know, I wasn't being serious. He played well that day even though we were awful last season. If only he could play like that all the time against top teams

Someone wasn't happy about the video of Lukaku tearing Chelsea a new one so here is a video of an 18 year old Lukaku scoring a hat trick against the league winners.

Fair enough if thats your opinion.

But its just that: your opinion. Conte not favouring lukaku is an opinion, not a fact. And while Conte might "want" personA more than personB (Koulibally and Luiz), he surely would not throw his toys out of th pram in case he does not get his choice as their are a lot of factors to be considered in a transfer.

As for looking average for chelsea, well, a teenager playing a total of 436 minutes, spread over 15 games is hardly a good way to look at things.

The game Man United were playing for nothing in you mean? You should have showed the semi final of the FA Cup against Man United, to show how consistent Lukaku is against top teams. He done well against Chelsea and then what happened at Wembley in the following round?

I would say he definitely won't be happy if he is given a player he doesn't want or doesn't feel suits his way of playing, like Klopp with Benteke and Sturridge, Klopp knows a fully fit Sturridge would outscore Firmino but Firmino suits the way Klopp wants his forwards to play and Sturridge doesn't. Same way Morata is a Conte type player and Lukaku isn't.

"Conte does not want Lukaku" - what are you basing this on?

If we are going to buy a 60mil pound striker, I am sure it would be with the absolute consent of Conte.

I don't think I said Conte does not want Lukaku, I don't think he would want him as his 1st choice striker, Emenalo is the one who wants Lukaku, it's been widely reported that Conte wants Morata, and we already know Conte is a fan of Morata and it makes sense as Lukaku isn't a Conte type player. I doubt Conte wanted Batshuayi either, but trusted Emenalo and it hasn't worked out which may give Conte more power to demand his players, maybe that's a reason why Conte has used Batshuayi so little to send a message to Emenalo that his signing hasn't worked and that he should listen to Conte.

I have not seen one article stating this. It is all a guessing game at this point who we will sign.

I have seen quite a few that say Conte is unsure about Lukaku or that Conte prefers Morata, and some that say Lukaku is unsure about working with Conte.

Let me rephrase for you. I have not seen any "quotes" from Conte saying he does not want Lukaku. Only newspaper speculation.

Yes, that is true. But when Conte talks about talent not being enough for him you need to be a warrior and work hard, you can see why people feel Lukaku isn't the right player for Conte

23 yrs old and 50 goals 14 assists in the last two seasons, yet according to some he is still not good enough for us. Those doubting him won't want to read this page of the thread back in a couple of years. Whether he comes to Chelsea or not this young man has star quality written all over him.

It's not about whether he is good enough, is Sturridge good enough for Liverpool? Of course he is but does he suit Klopp's football? No. Is Aguero good enough for Man City? Of course he is but does he suit Pep's football? No.

Same applies with Lukaku and Conte.

Thank you. So it is just your opinion, and not a fact as you would have us believe.

I wonder what people would say if he was a Spanish player playing for Villareal.
