Romelu Lukaku

That's probably why the stories coming out about him favouring Man United, no doubt Emenalo will tell him Conte wants a hardworking striker who presses from the front, and we all know Lukaku doesn't like to fight for his place in the team, I don't think he has the character to come here knowing he won't be guaranteed a starting place. If Emenalo does convince him to come I can't see him being conte's 1st choice.

I don't really want him to come here in all honesty but there's probably a good chance he will. United though would probably be willing to pay a lot more than us.

Tbf we gotta look at some of the positives in case Lukaku does come.

For 1, I have full confidence in Conte that he will make Lukaku hard working and improve him massively. Not to mention that Lukaku is still only 23.. He hasn't even really reached his prime yet, and I think someone like Conte could mould him into another Drogba for sure.

Also thinking about it, we sold Lukaku for £28m, but if we buy him back for £60M, then really we only spent £32m for a striker with great potential, who also has great experience in the prem and has shown he can perform at a good level.

So in that way, I guess it wouldn't be all too bad if he does come

Fact is he scores goals and that's not easy to do, especially in this league. I don't doubt he would score goals for us my worry is that he wouldn't do anything in those tough games when the chips are down and we really need him.

Still as you suggest maybe Conte would be good for him. Guess we'll find out if he comes back.

There is a good chance we will actually.

I think there's zero chance myself. Just cant see us spend that much on a singular position like a striker. We will buy a starter and a guy whos happy enough to be 2nd fiddle.

Exactly my point, he definitely has the talent but he just needs a good manager to mould him perfectly, and because he's still at such a young age he still has plenty of learning to do. I have full faith in Conte to turn his career around

Fast enough to get in behind a defense and strong enough to take a ball down and hold up play. Suits both styles of play. Scared he'll join Utd and make them a terrifying force next season. Hopefully we've set the ball rolling and are already on our way to signing him.

Exactly, we aren't gonna be spending over £100 mil on two forwards.

Agree with both you and @chef, we aren't going to spend £100/£120 mill on forwards. We require several positions, LWB, RWB, CB, CM and ST. Plus there are FFP regulations to comply with. Some just get carried away with what we can spend.

I think we'll sign Lukaku or Morata and not both, the 2nd striker will be someone versatile in the mold of Sanchez who could play Attacking Mid and cover as a 2nd Striker. This would allow Conte to integrate one of the young lads (Abraham/Toure/Solanke) to warm the bench and get minutes here & there when required.

I think we'll sign Lukaku, who will most certainly be our starting striker, along with a Striker-winger type player along the lines of Sanchez, Griezmann etc, who would be a starter but could also cover in the striker position if needs be.

"Turn his career around"

hes 24 and top scorer in the league. His career has hardly gone backwards!

Maybe "turn his career around" was the wrong phrase to use, but he has definitely got lazy and doesnt work as hard as how he used to when he was younger. Conte will almost definitely change that.

p.s he's 23, turns 24 next week ;)

why wouldn't that add up to 100m?

IF! Costa is sold this summer.

I reckon we might see Lukaku and Morata both signed and 3-4-3 will become more of a 3-4-1-2 with Hazard sat behind the two strikers in a free role.

Willian might be allowed to leave and Pedro and RLC are the ones are the attacking back up.

Costa will surely be off in the summer, he has not been the same Costa before the China links. We will also get big money for him, if Conte feels Lukaku is the suitable replacement than so be it. We also have Michy, Traore and Abraham all in line to be a back up, time will tell will they all go on loans. I feel Michy has been too expensive to go on endless loans, if Conte doesn't rate him sell him and get back some of the money spent. I personally still think he didn't get a good enough chance. Lukaku is a proven goalscorer and he has all the qualities that can work in this system, i also think he is keen on joining us once again. He is 24 and has lot of good seasons ahead of him.

So you think some just get carried away with what we can spend? I would say you are massivley underestimating what we can spend.

Conte will be given funds to spend this summer, with the sponsorship deals, TV money and PL prize money, I think £150-200m is a fair enough estimate for how much Conte will be given. And before we even have to dive into that we have the £60m Oscar money, £75m from the potential Costa sale, and probably another £40+ Million from a potential Willian sale.

So I think it's safe to say just the Oscar and Costa money alone will get us 2 new strikers, leaving us with more than enough to buy top players in other positions.

Yes I do actually. It is not we can't afford it. There are FFP regulations.

And we are can easily spend over £200m without breaking any FFP regulations, in fact Liverpool can spend £200m this summer, Man United can spend £400m if they want to this summer. Football is changing, especially the English clubs.

*What ???.....Football has been evolving since day dot, and will continue to do so ::clap2:: It does not change my opinion of, I do not think we will be spending £200/300 mill on new players.

Been thinking this for a whole now tbh. Conte has generally been 352 rather than 343.

There seems to be heavy links with both. I think they could actually work well together, morata especially is used to playing in a 2 from his juve days.

I get the feeling roman will spend big to avoid a repeat of last season, and try to put us back to being a force in Europe.

Morata, lukaku, a top class centre mid, another wing back, and I think we will look very strong.

I dont see Real selling Moratta unless Mbappe or Aubameyang go that direction. So Lukaku is our only realistic option. Another realistic option about whom i am not hearing enough rumors in Sanchez. We need more attacking strength - where are the rumors ?

Because I dont think it will.

£60m+ for Lukaku and £5-10m for Llorente.

Do you honestly see us buying two £50m+ strikers when playing a 1 striker system?
