Chelsea vs Liverpool Pasadena July 27th

Featured Replies

It's his 3rd game with us,after only a few days having most of the players back. Our weakness last season was defensively, that's his immediate priority to fix. Stop with all the miserable dooming for f**ks sake, it's pathetic and whiney.

I don't tell you how to convey your mood or thoughts, so please don't tell me to.

Surprised at how much playing time Aina is getting.

Baba appears to already be out of favour.

Odd that neither of Costa or Remy were involved in the squad.

Also surprised that Oscar didn't get any minutes last night either.

I'm suspecting there might be a number of changes for the Madrid game.

Could be wrong but I think it'll be a completely new XI for Madrid, baring possibly 1 or 2.

Would expect Costa, Oscar, baba, batman etc to get 90 mins.

You know he is an African right!

You two are like the Liverpool fans of African players, so delusional that it's comical. Moses is dog sh*t. We don't slate him because he's African, we slate him because he's a pretty sh*t footballer. I'd sell him and have Traore take his squad place ( You know he is an african right?)

Got up and watched the game this morning, great goal by Gazza. JT was almost at his best, Gab looked slimmer than last season, tackling not his speciality. Olla Aina was excellent hope he gets into the squad this season, a bit of competition for Branna.   Conte seems to be getting his ideas over to the boys. Well done lads !!!!!!!!!!  Up the Chels.

Didn't realise this game was on at like 4am, to be fair probably wouldn't have got up for a pre season game anyway, I need my sleep haha.

What I'm struggling to understand reading through this thread is the criticism for beating Liverpool 1-0 with less possession. We done that under Jose at Anfield to stop them winning the league and it was a 'tactical masterclass' now it's a disgrace?

It's a pre-season game, bloody hell! By all accounts we need to remember how to new clean sheets again so this was a successful outing IMO.

How you can be rating 4/5 players 3 or 2 when we won with a clean sheet is bizarre.

Anyway, we're performing better than last pre season and from what I saw last week already look fitter than we were last year.

Still have Tibo & Hazard & Kante & whomever else we bring it to join up as well.

Let's keep the head, the seasons looking positive!

This match was too aggressive for a friendly match, Fabregas's tackle was very stupid. I actually enjoyed more from the first half, at the second half we went down and did only defence.

- Moses good game at the first half, in the second half, couldn't feel him.

- Aina has impressed me again, I really hope that Conte is planning to put him as his starter.

- Loftus-Cheek did a good job, this is a new position for him and he does his best to impress Conte. At the second half, he was a lot in our half and always caused for problems for Liverpool.

- Matic has covered some areas, gave Fabregas a cover, but lost too many balls as a DM he can't lose that much. He has to work on it and improve that before the season starts.

- Fabregas was sent off and he deserved it, he had a good game but this tackle destroyed everything.

- Chalobah came into the game and was positive for the team to keep the victory.

I'll moan as much as I want 'mate'. It's a forum.

Don't take it so Personally,

so its ok for you to moan about something because its a forum. but its not ok for us to moan about you moaning, on a forum? Nice selective thinking there.

Come on, dont be childish. You're better than that.

Im not moaning about other posts or opinions. Im simply expressing my view to the game of football i have watched. Feel free to do the same positive or negative. Just dont tell me what to write/not write, and I wont with you. Question my thoughts with logical rebuffes by all means. But the 'stop whinging etc' is plain lazy and poor.

Dress it up how you want. Liverpool had over 60% of the ball and for large parts we could not get out of or half.

I thought the days of this type of football had gone, with our wingers defending the whole game like full backs. For me I'm so disappointed. What happened to this pressing game Conte ants to employ. I don't expect it to be fully functioning so early but I'd like to see our stall set out. This was so Jose Mourinho.

In addition when we did get the ball, we lacked so much quality. How many times did matic give it away? I know some fans will be happy, 1-0 win with sturdy defence but that's not the way I want us to move forward.

Wish I'd stayed in bed.

the pressing game needs quick centre backs which we did not have or have not had yet this season

Kind of agree, however if you look at dortmund for example or even liverpool last night they effectively press the ball without quick Cbs. If you get it right tactically and positionally you should never expose your CBs 1v1 unless dealing with a ball over the top.

Our down fall this morning in a pressing sense, was that both Wide players allowed Moreno (particuarly) and the young lad to push us back. Which allowed there Cbs and deep midfielders time on the ball. Granted they did nothing with it, and we were solid. I guess not a bad thing to do when 1-0 up, but when the results dont matter so much I would like to of seen us push more.

But he isn't sh*t though? Been our best player in pre season for a few years now but doesn't get a chance. Deserves to be back up to Willian and Hazard at least.

Also Traore is a striker so that would be a poor alternative.

I recall Marko Marin tearing it up in pre season too, along with a multitude of other players who just don't cut it at our level. Moses is average, we need to be aiming higher than that.

Traore also plays on the right wing, as he has done on numerous occasions for both us and Vitesse, so it's not really that poor an alternative.

ill give you my thoughts on the Game

As a game of competitive football it would have been cause for concern but as it was not that we can look at what we saw.

We saw less than 50% of the team which will probably start against West Ham

Defensively the shape is improving and once again we had a clean sheet,

Ola Aina is looking good

The ref was an absolute numskull. Plus In pre season there should be no red cards. Chelsea should just have been asked to change the player.

The break was looking OK but we were getting hacked down at every opportunity

Our attack was ineffective. was deja vu in that respect.

Liverpool looked much worse :)

We beat the fekkers and any way we beat the scousers is OK with  me

1015 AM start for me today so was a nice game to watch

Moses is renowned for having a good pre season yet he never an automatic strter wherever he goes on loan. Liverpool, stoke, and West Ham! Are we worse than all of them.

don't get me wrong as i'd like any player worth his place to get a game

Love that Ola Aina continue to get chances. Sure looks like he might be ahead of Baba in the pecking order already and i would love to see him start against WH in august. Looks excellent and composed.

For an example of some of the pressing I would like to see us employ, tune into SS1 now!! Guardiola has been at city the same amount of time as Conte with us. (ok fractionally longer with euros) but there is a stark difference in tactics already.

So whats your point? How City are playing has absolutely nothing to do with us in pre season, it has no relevance whatsoever to this match against Liverpool.

Only a moron would complain about tactics used in a friendly.

Coming from someone with Demon as the username.

Surely the tactics used in Preseason are the ones we want to take into the proper season. Wanting to see progress in ideas/tactics is not a crime.

No team will completely change tactics on the first day of the season, from what they have been working on the last 6 weeks.
