Ray Wilkins as a pundit

Some far points but he was united fan as a boy I believe  so I'm sure it was a dream move for him. Do you personally  know him ? He's hardly blue through at through if he supported united is he?  Maybe you should also check  the facts.  You say it was purely down to money why he went but like I said he's a united fan as a boy so dream come through  for him, who wouldn't want to play for the team he supported as a boy.  I must try find the programme  he's questions  and answers where in.  I'm well aware he's nickname was butch and it wasn't a gay term not that it matters.   My dad drank with him numerous  times in the players lounge and said he was a nice enough guy but as a pundit he tries to hard to be a nice guy which I find quite boring.

That's your opinion, however I did meet him many years ago, and he is a nice bloke.......and I can definately state that Chelsea board of directors sold him cos the needed the dosh from Man Ure........when Ray was a kid, he could have liked man ure, just like some say JT did as a kid, but I couldn't give a toss about kids supporting Man ure, just as long as they didn't support spuds, cos I hate spuds more than I hate anyone.

Ray likes a drink, so do I and a lot of people, and I agree he is stupid to drink n drive. However I respect the fella for being Chelsea's youngest ever captain. He always gave his all for Chelsea until Brian Mears (ask your dad about him ! ) decided to sell him to man ure.....not Ray's fault.

I like some of his opinions, and some I don't.......which is the same for all of the pundits, but he doesn't deserve to be treated like sh*t by Chelsea fans who should know better than that.

If you cut JT's body in half, you will see Chelsea Fc etched into his inner layers of bones and he will bleed blue & white blood.

I couldn't give a toss about young kids saying they liked Man Ure or even some other team.....but I will draw the line if it was Spuds .......some people on this forum should know better than to start digging out old Chelsea boys aka Ray "Butch" Wilkins, just because they dislike his punditry.........for crying out loud, man up and give the old geezer a break........let's face it, we're only jealous of the TV pundits, as they're getting paid loads money for talking bollox, whereas we don't get paid !!!!

JT was  a manure fan as a kid. I've always doubted whether he was really committed to Chelsea.

I know, right? I'll never forget his tears of joy in Moscow.

Wilkins was on Talksh!te tonight. He was at Chelsea from the age of 10 and has been a season ticket holder for years. He could be very bitter towards the club for sacking him the other year but he still supports us passionately. I agree he's not the greatest pundit but I'd never question his credentials as a Chelsea man through and through.

There is some bitter sh*te in this thread, what's up with ya......

Very true, Wilkins seems okay to me, who would we rather listen to? Collymore? Micky Quin?

Too Right. I don't mind Ray Parlour (ok bloke for a gooner) but give me Wilkins any day over the likes of Scouser Quinny.

There are some people who like to think they know it all......and slag people off for a laugh.

But slagging off our youngest ever captain and a Long standing Chelsea man such as Ray Wilkins is, is bang out of order and disrespectful.......and why ? Just because they disagree with his opinion as a pundit and he liked man ure as a kid, because ....FFS ! ......the person who started this thread needs to do his homework and grow up.

there are lots of young kids out there living in London areas, who were not lucky enough to be taken by their father or family member or mate to Stamford bridge and support Chelsea as a kid..........and they ended up liking Man ure or Liverpool.......But Ray Wilkins always wore the Chelsea blue shirt with great pride.

Some caller on TS tonight phoned in and gave Ray a right bashing on his unashamed love of Chelsea, to the detriment of Man yoo, where he probably, well he ddi have more success in a great team, he apologised for his perceived treachery, but wouldn't back down....

well that proves my point........Ray is a proper Chelsea fan, and did not want to be transferred to man ure.....

That doesn't make up for the fact that he is a bad pundit.

In your opinion. I always think he comes across as very professional & articulate and really like the bloke. He does talk in cliches somewhat but that's pretty normal for ex-players and he tends to big up Chelsea and is a good egg.

He's clearly had his demons in recent times but you wouldn't know from listening to him on the radio.

Fully agree with that, He has a lot more insight into the modern game than the majority of other pundits, and has no problem saying what he wants to say without feeling the need to placate players/managers etc.

He obviously wouldn't have kept his job as a pundit for many years, if he was a bad pundit.......however he's obviously not as good you, kiwi, me old fruit !

Never fear if we are worried about the above list of supposed expert pundits and what will happen when they retire, the new breed are coming through!! Danny Murphy, Chris Sutton, Phil Neville!!!! God help us, and people on here moaning about ray Wilkins??

Chris Sutton was so so bad, i hope to never see him as a pundit again. I'd honestly rather see Robbie Savage alongside Craig Burley.
