Saw Big Country there in June or July 1986. ‘The Seer Tour’. You been to that SWG3 venue in Glasgow @erskblue? Was there on Thursday night for the first time. Not bad at all as long as you are up at gje front. Wouldn't fancy it so much if I was far back

Fantastic, beer, sweat and great blues. Queen @ Alexandra Palace, 1979. Relatively small venue, huge band. I was at the Zeppelin Knebworth gig too. Lived in Stevenage then so Knebworth was just up the road. In 1988 we actually brought our first house on the outskirts of Knebworth. We could sit in our front garden and hear the music when a festival was on. Despite living close to or in Knebworth, the Led Zepp concert was the only big festival I went to there. I regret not going to Queen in 1986, Freddie Mercury's last live gig I think. The wife went with her mates to see Oasis in '96. I didn't bother. The one concert I really wanted to go to there was the Stones in '76. It was a month before my 15th birthday and my dad had booked the annual family holiday for that week. So while many of my mates went to the festival to witness a piece of rock history, I went to a caravan in Clacton.
August 10, 20241 yr First gig I ever saw was Bob Marley at Crystal Palace Bowl. That was pretty good. We were kids and we climbed over the fence. Same location a little later I saw Ian Dury & the Blockheads perform a free concert there - An Anti royal Wedding concert. Wonderful. the clash at the Fair Deal in Brixton in 1982. and so many others since then. . .
August 26, 20241 yr The Who at Charlton I'm the early 70's Support acts Alex Harvey , think Little Feat were on as well. Pissed down all day and stopped when The Who appeared. Rod Stewart and the Faces at Brixton Academy in the 70s were a blast.
August 27, 20241 yr The Who, Melbourne, January 1968. Stunning. Daltrey doing his thing of hurling the mic out over the heads of the audience and yanking it back again by the cord. Get thee behind me, Health & Safety. Ditto Moon hurling his drumsticks into the audience like javelins at the end of the show before kicking over his kit. For all the managed chaos - Townshend smashing a back-up guitar - utterly professional, note-perfect performance. Supported by the Small Faces who were sloppy, all over the shop, probably thanks to Marriott being so drunk he could hardly stand up.

You must know the area to remember the ABC ?!

In addition to the cinamas I mentioned there was another one same side of Brixton road as the ABC , just up off the main road probably opposite where the tube station was built. Can't remember it's name for the life of me, pretty sure it became a Bingo hall. Btw, The Odeon was also called the Astoria. EDIT...tha other cinema was called The Granada .. December 28, 20241 yr Astoria, Odeon, Magnificent interior, , before it eventually became a music venue.
December 28, 20241 yr Tough one. I'm a photographer mostly, and I often get to cover gigs.. Paul Weller is a long time favourite musician, and in about 2012 I covered a gig at the Hammersmith odeon that included - Paul Weller and son, Miles Kane and Emile Sandi . Great concert, but I was so near the front that Townshend's footlight completely obscured my view of Keith Moon, who I only saw when he leapt over his drum kit at the end.

Never went there , but saw Geno Washington and th ram jam band at other venues. .the old Marquee maybe ? I'm not sure if the band name was connected to the Brixton club name or not ?
