Womens World Cup 23

Nice to see England win without extra time or penalties.

Bright again superb.

Hemp was very good and Russo did well too.

Columbia had some good players though England had largely good tactics and rode their luck a bit.

So the semis offer up an all English speaking match and a match-up more frequently seen in World Cup Rugby or Cricket.

It's the match up Australia wanted. Any sport, any time, anywhere, Australia will always fancy beating England.

I have a feeling for 2-0 to the Aussies. But who knows? Hard to use a piece of sandpaper to influence the movement of a football. 😉

The goalkeepers lack of height in woman’s football is glaringly obvious sometimes.

A plus is that we may see more goals because of that. Not sure if height would have prevented that Kerr goal though.

Kerr probably goal of the tournament though had other chances she did not take.

England scored good goals, next up Spain.

Lauren Hemp stood out for me today.

I reckon Kerrs goal was going out, it took a deflection.

Yes it did take a slight defection could not tell to what degree though good for the match as we had to score more.

Many congratulations to the England Women's team.

My local pub opens at noon on a Sunday. I'll ask the landlady if the pub can open earlier so we can watch while enjoying a few beers.

I'm torn over who to support in the final. As a 3-way national (born in England, Irish passport, house in Spain), I have a foot in both camps. Rather than flip a coin, I've decided if it's sunny in central Bedfordshire on Sunday I'll support Spain, if it's raining I'll support England.

It's almost certain to be England then.
