October 8, 20232 yr With who we played I do believe we should have the same number of points as Spurs do right now. We don't. Now we face this Run: Arsenal (H) Brentford (H) Spurs (A) City (H) Newcastle (A) Brighton (H) United (A) Got a lot of ground to make up to compete in the top half, and then on to European places. Means beating the "harder" sides since we messed up the "easy" run. I think we need at least 13 points return from those games, or more, to pull ourselves back in to competing for those Europeans births. How many points do my fellow shed enders think we need from these games, and how many do you think we will get? For me Minimum of 13 needed, but I think we end up with 5 or 6. October 8, 20232 yr Now that we have built up a little bit of form my view is: Brentford will struggle this year so expect a win. Brighton I would like to think we can beat as I reckon they will struggle with Europe etc. Neutrals would say us and United are in the same place but I would say we are a much happier camp than they are so we could get a result. City, Arsenal and Newcastle I reckon are losses and it would be proper Chels to beat Spurs and end their unbeaten run. I'm going for 10 points with a draw against United or 12 points if we win at United....
October 8, 20232 yr Just to add, annoyingly if we played Forest and Bournemouth right now I firmly believe we would win those games quite comfortably. Having said that, I'd rather go into the Arsenal game on the back of our recent results rather than play them after the Villa defeat. Would be very happy with a draw.... I must admit, after Villa I was very worried about a relegation battle. I'm still keeping my expectations low, so that my weekend is not ruined, but am thinking an 7th/8th finish and good cup runs (i.e. beat Blackburn a kind draw and we could find ourselves in the semis).....

I think we'll get in the region of 10-12, we're honestly capable of beating any of them. Let's not forget our defense has generally looked very solid even with injuries and changes, and playing better teams would actually open up space for our attackers to exploit. Our best performances this season have come against better teams - Pool, West Ham, Brighton.
October 8, 20232 yr 11. Arsenal (H) Draw Brentford (H) Win Spurs (A) Draw City (H) Lose Newcastle (A) Lose Brighton (H) Win United (A) Win - depending on if Ten Hag is still there
October 8, 20232 yr A lot of those teams are in Europe so we might well be fresher except Brentford and Brighton. And of course one of them is Spurs 😊
October 8, 20232 yr Badiashile, James, and Carney should be back after international break which is a bonus. Fingers crossed no injuries in the meantime.

I think going into this run of fixtures with that inclusion of depth benefits us tremendously. Not to mention finally have 2 fit strikers too and the fact Brighton, Newcastle, City, and United will have European fixtures crunched in-between. A win against Arsenal will be massive. About time this team beats someone in the top 6 not named Spurs.
October 8, 20232 yr Excited for this run. If players can return from injury and we don’t pick up new ones, we’ll have more options in a few positions. We’ll struggle at times, but if we want to compete, we’ve got to show we can go up against these sides and take points from teams above and around us. It’s time to grow.
October 9, 20232 yr For me, there are no easy games, playing teams fighting for relegation could be harder than playing a top aiming for top 4. The more important factors are form and momentum, which we have some. At least we will be underdog against Arsenal, park the bus for 3 points is more than acceptable.
October 9, 20232 yr When you go on and predict what will happen in these games I am sure it will go some other way. In a perfect world we can win every one of those game. We have the potential and ability. Naturally we won't win every one of them. We are not there yet as a team. Not even close. Arsenal and Tottenham at this moment are the teams with best form. Those 2 are the ones we might struggle the worst.
October 9, 20232 yr Generally optimistic about this run, after dreading it 2 weeks ago. I think we're set up to cause problems for teams willing to get at us. I think our midfield, now that its a bit more settled, can give all of the above teams a problem. If Sterling and Mudryk can keep form, with Palmer playing as he is then that more than enough to do damage. Hopefully Jackson and Broja can keep pushing each other for the central position. If you put the list in the context of this season, Newcastle are going to blow themselves out churning out performances like the PSG one in Europe. They won't be able to maintain that level of effort twice a week. United are worse than us. Brighton are increasingly inconsistent and Spurs will eventually have a rough patch. It might not be the worst time to have to face each of them. We've had our worse start in years and we're only 5 points off CL places. Yes the fixtures have been on the easy side but there's still a long way to go.

Newcastle being after the next international break, and I believe a 1230 Saturday kick off, makes that one the banker loss imo. I also just feel losses to Arsenal and Spurs are going to happen, that should see the activity ramp up after those games on here lol
October 29, 20232 yr Author Maybe 5 or 6 points was asking too much. Spurs, City and Newcastle. After that we may well be 16th, only a couple of points above that.

November 13, 20232 yr Arsenal (H) ONE POINT Brentford (H) ZERO POINTS Spurs (A) THREE POINTS City (H) ONE POINT Newcastle (A) ONE POINT Brighton (H) THREE POINTS United (A) THREE POINTS Really should have took three points from Brentford and it would've been a pretty impressive start to the run in. 5 points from a possible 12 so far. I see no reason why we don't beat Brighton and Utd in current form. Newcastle the only potential stumbling block imo. Away at St James' right after international duty with Caicedo and Enzo playing 12,000 miles away. 7 days rest before Brighton so we should cruise past them then on to Utd. Although they've been a bogey team for us in recent years the young lads look up for it and don't seem to shirk the responsibility of big games.

Apparently they're struggling with injuries to key players. The irony, the irony.

November 13, 20232 yr Burn, Barns, Botman, Almrion, and Manquillo are out until 2024. Tonali out for the season. Wilson and Isak are both late fitness tests and may make the match, but neither will be 100%.

I meant more on paper Brentford is probably the only team we were likely to take points from with our form at the time. Now it looks like they'll be the only team to take all 3 points home with them.
