RIP

RIP  - Really liked him as England Manager - and obviously an ex blue.

Had a long illness, so hopefully he is at peace.

Rest in peace. Fantastic manager. 

Sad news.

A Chelsea academy product a part of the same generation alongside Chopper, Osgood, Tambling, Hollins, Bonetti etc who made us relevant through the 60s when the Doc was coaching us.

Was also Australia's national head coach in the late 90s. Always felt bad for him he couldn't get us to qualify for France 98 after the team squandered a 2-goal lead against Iran in the qualifiers.

RIP.

RIP Terry. very good player and the flamboyant character to carry the England managers job. 

Probably my favorite England manager, great personality.

Sad news. I knew he had been ill for a fair while but will really miss him as he was such a character and a great football man with so many interesting stories and always great to listen to.

Fantastic summer of 96 thanks to this man, in my early 20’s doing the pub/bar thing for all of Englands games.

Very sad news. Always liked Tel and as an ex-player he usually seemed to have a good word to say about Chelsea. Shame he never managed us back in the day.

Euro 96 was the major England campaign I remember and especially with that unexpected 4-1 over the Netherlands.

This was also the Gascoigne time with incidents in the bars like in Hong Kong yet also that clever goal against Scotland. 

Pundits think Venables might have managed earlier and avoided the Graham Taylor reign  yet the FA were uneasy due to prosecution against some of Venables' companies. 

It was shame he did not stay in the English job  longer.
