cyberworm314
The draw for the Group Stages will be held on Aug 30, Thursday, just after the 32 sides in qualifying finish their matches on Wednesday. Top pot of seeds for Champions League according to current UEFA co-efficient: 1 AC Milan (ITA) 133.8 pts 2 FC Barcelona (ESP) 119.4 3 FC Liverpool (ENG) 112.6* 4 Inter Milan (ITA) 107.8 5 Arsenal FC (ENG) 104.6* 6 Real Madrid (ESP) 104.4 7 Chelsea FC (ENG) 99.6 8 Manchester United (ENG) 99.6 9 CF Valencia (ESP) 99.4* 10 Olympique Lyon (FRA) 95.7 11 FC Porto (POR) 89.1 12 FC Sevilla (ESP) 87.4* 13 PSV Eindhoven (HOL) 82.0 14 AS Roma (ITA) 78.8 15 Benfica Lisbon (POR) 67.1* 16 Ajax Amsterdam (HOL) 66.0* For those unacquainted, this means Chelsea will NOT face any of the teams in the top 8. Assuming Arsenal and Liverpool don't qualify, their places will be taken by the next 2 top places in the 2nd group, which are Valencia and Lyon (assuming Valencia qualify.) Then everyone will move up a few notches. Comments?

The Moos
I'm a moos but I can be a bit of a cow sometimes. Anyway. I certainly hope Valencia doesn't qualify but it will take a bloody miracle for Elfsborg to beat them.

Let`s support together, "My" Spartak is also in such a situation, with away fixture incoming against tough Scots, playing draw at home, conceeding one. mad_mac
To be honest mate, it's tough to call. I really don't fancy meeting any of them. I do think Lyon are a tough tough team, and if we get them then that would be a hard match. I bet Porto would love to have us come their way Scott

I bet Porto would love to have us come their wayScott Scott, agreed, but then again, we have made it through the group stage of the CL while playing against first seeds Barca (05/06), Liverpool (04/05), Porto (03/04), and Lazio (02/03). From that perspective, it's great to be top dogs playing as first seeds this time around. It will be a tough home/away contest no matter who we draw as second seeds, but if we are to win the whole damn thing eventually, we should beat that team at home and at least take a point on the road. loz
As always I hope for one of the Glasgow clubs (if they qualify and preferably Rangers) to be drawn in our group so that I can go to the game up here. As for the teams in the 2nd pot any one from PSV, Porto, Ajax and Benfica would be a good draw. Valencia, Lyon, Sevilla and Roma I would prefer to avoid but I wouldn't have too much fear from any of them.

Tim W
Joking a side, if we did meet Rangers would we get the same warm welcome in Glasgow? Not quite so sure the Blues Bros. run that deep.
loz
It would still be a fairly friendly affair but I certainly wouldn't expect quite so much 'come to our pub and drink heartily with us' from all of the Rangers crowd (especially if we beat them) . Tim W
Only trouble for my part is I don't have the same opportunity to get over to Glasgow midweek, lack of direct flights, so if it ever happened I would have to make do with the battle at the bridge. Lofty
I was going to say it'll be interesting if we draw Celtic in our group. Then I thought it's gone to penalties. They've blown it. But they didn't. So. It'll be interesting if we draw Celtic in our group.

sergeyMS
So it seems it would tough draw for any team from the 1st pot this year: Finally: 2nd pot: 1. Valencia (99,374) 2. Lyon (95,706) 3. FC Porto (89,107) 4. Sevilla (87,374)/ AEK 5. PSV (81,995) 6. AC Roma (78,808) 7. Benfica (67,107) 8. Werder (63,640) 3rd pot: 1. Celtic (62,064) (F**kers !!! ) 2. Schalke (60,640) 3. Stuttgart (58,640) 4. Staya (55,255) 5. CSKA MOSCOW (53,920) (C`mon!!!!!) 6. Sporting (52,107) 7. Lazio (51,808) 8. Marseille (51,706) Benfica, undoubtably, is the sweetest team in the 2nd pot, at the same time Staya, Celtic and CSKA shares this rank in the 3rd one I hope CSKA would get Benfica and Inter ( ) And Chelsea would be drawn with PSV and Celtic or Staya!
