Posted October 31, 200717 yr .. we're being linked with a 12M move for Anelka in Jan... ... thoughts?
October 31, 200717 yr Please God let it be true. He is the ONLY striker not cup tied who has proven quality, who has adjusted to the Premiership, and will not cost an arm and a leg to get in January. I think him and Drogba would be a perfect combination. People talk all about his bad attitude, but alot of time has gone by since those days. Recently he's kept his head down and done what he does best, score goals.
October 31, 200717 yr Top player, sh*t attitude. Better replacement for Drogs than Pizzaro and the current sprint trained Sheva.
October 31, 200717 yr Top player, sh*t attitude. Better replacement for Drogs than Pizzaro and the current sprint trained Sheva. What has he done in the last 5 years that makes you say he has a sh*t attitude?
October 31, 200717 yr I think he would be great. Yes, he had a major attitude problem when he was a teenager at the Arse. But that was a long time ago now, and he has matured both as a player and a person since then.
October 31, 200717 yr Top player, sh*t attitude. Better replacement for Drogs than Pizzaro and the current sprint trained Sheva. What has he done in the last 5 years that makes you say he has a sh*t attitude? Was playing well for Man City, all of a sudden he wanted to play in the CL and asked for a transfer. Went to Fenerbace of all places, stayed their for a couple seasons, again wanted to come back to England and wanted a move to a "big" club which didnt happen, landed in Bolton. He hasnt even been in Bolton a full season and there were interviews of him in the summer saying, he again wants a move to a CL team. He has scored goals wherever he has gone(apart from Real maybe) and I am not against signing him if Drogba is seeking a move out of the club in the summer but in saying that, he could turn out to be a dressing room cancer.
October 31, 200717 yr He's a decent player, but wont improve us dramatically. We have Pizzarro and Sheva hasn't played any football at all (now we are playing 1 striker), paying 12 - 15 millions for a player of similar calibre doesnt make any sense.
October 31, 200717 yr I'd take him and i'm expecting Butch to throw his support behind the move if/when he comments on this thread. Anelkas a great player and I beleive he has grown up.
October 31, 200717 yr I'd be happy enough with that, he must surely have learned by now that his next move, if a big club take a punt on him is really going to be his last major chance. Let's get him I say.
October 31, 200717 yr Get him in I say, he's a quality player. I've seen interviews with ex-teammates of his who say he's a great bloke with a good attitude and that all this stuff about him being "Le Sulk" is blown out of all proportion by the media.
October 31, 200717 yr Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester, Chelsea? I can easily see this deal go through. He is in one of the worst teams of EPL right now and has experience of scoring in EPL, not that young but experience is what makes him good choice for DD's backup. The backup needs to be in good form right away. Has a history of being selfish and if I remember correctly he was thinking of retiring few years ago. Was he going to do art or something like that? But hey he's french, stereotypically thinking he fits in the mould . I think he is similar player to Pizarro, maybe Anelka has more speed, but otherwise. I really hope Pizza and Sheva start performing so we wouldn't need to buy Anelka or anyone else for that matter.
October 31, 200717 yr I would say he would be a good aquisition, when he was at Arsenal I thought he was gonna be one of the best strikers in the world. ok he has changed Clubs a few times but he seems to have buckled down and I have not heard much about all the hangers on and advisors he used to have, was it Brothers or something? I still harbour expectations for Sheva but could see anelka and Sheva being a fair partnership while Drogba is away. I would probobly let Pizzaro go if it was up to me as he just hasn't shown anything in the little(admittedly) time he has been given.
October 31, 200717 yr I think 4-3-3 is very much the formation Grant wants us playing in the medium term. So I doubt we will see us play 2 "up top" unless we are chasing a game.
October 31, 200717 yr I think 4-3-3 is very much the formation Grant wants us playing in the medium term. So I doubt we will see us play 2 "up top" unless we are chasing a game. Seems to be working well I know, Still like to see how it would work maybe with Anelka--Sheva--Cole.. Anelkas still pretty quick, could work.
October 31, 200717 yr That for me is the trouble, Drogba is the only player we've got that's capable of playing up front on his own. What will we do when he's not available? Neither Sheva or Pizzaro are good enough, despite the fact that everyone wants them to be and Sheva used to be!!!
October 31, 200717 yr Anelka had all the attributes to become one of the best strikers in the world but his attitude got on the way. I also read in the past that the real trouble was that he entrusted his brother to act as his agent and handle all his affairs with the clubs he played for, and apparently that was a very bad move on Anelka's part. At reasonable price he'd be a good risk to take. I believe Anelka in the right situation can be a very useful player.
November 1, 200717 yr What he'd bring to the pitch would be fine. What he'd bring to our dressing room is the problem
November 1, 200717 yr Worth a risk I agree. Any attitude issues would be snuffed by good ol' Henk Ten Cate. And I would also look at getting Huntelaar in either January or Summer.
November 12, 200717 yr How about this fella??http://www.all3points.co.uk/cat/chelsea/yak121107.php Really wouldn't mind getting him. Yakubu is a great player and I think he could do really well with us. If we continue to play 4-3-3 I really wouldn't mind playing: Yakubu - Drogba - Anelka
November 12, 200717 yr How about this fella??http://www.all3points.co.uk/cat/chelsea/yak121107.php Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink PART II Thanks but no thanks.
November 12, 200717 yr some here would settle for a Jimmy mark II, but lets not open up that can of worms again. cant see the similarities myself and the Jak is a decent target man who leads the line well.
November 12, 200717 yr While Jose was slated and called boring for playing thru a target man up front, I find it ironic that Avram wants to enforce his 'entertaining style' of play on us and we're linked with the likes of Yakubu and Kenwin Jones who are direct replacements for Didier. New way forward or copying what we've already got
