coco
Looks like we have our squad sorted for the rest of the season. Lets try and determine our best XI from an uninjured squad, the league game at home to Le Ars on Sat 12th April is our scenario (could have full fit squad by then), so pick your best XI for any formation you like for that game. Full squad: Petr ?ech Ashley Cole Claude Makélélé Michael Essien Ricardo Carvalho Andriy Shevchenko Frank Lampard (vice-captain) Steve Sidwell Joe Cole Didier Drogba John Obi Mikel Michael Ballack Claudio Pizarro Florent Malouda Scott Sinclair Wayne Bridge Paulo Ferreira Salomon Kalou Tal Ben-Haim Carlo Cudicini Shaun Wright-Phillips John Terry (captain) Alex Juliano Belletti Nicolas Anelka Henrique Hilário Branislav Ivanovic I'm throwing down this team..... ---------------------?ech--------------------- Belletti--------Alex---------Terry---------Bridge --------------------Essien--------------------- ----------SWP-----Lampard-----Mikel---------- ---------------------------Anelka-------------- ------------------Drogba----------------------- Subs: Cudicini Carvalho Maka Ballack Kalou Drogba front man, Anelka working around him & into the corners, only time Anelka is lone striker is when opposition have corners (as Drogba defends corners). No place in squad for Sheva or the new player Ivanovic.
osloman
Joe Cole for Mikel and Carvalho for Alex. Difference between Cashley and Bridgey is not much and doesn't matter imo.

Yeah i only dropped Ricky because Alex has more to offer all round, and Mikel over Joey or Joey over Mikel could go either way, just thought against Arsenal he will be needed for his strength in midfiled. BlueBeard
Our best team, IMO, playing an attacking 4-4-2 - none of this 4-3-3 b*llocks which invariably turns into 4-5-1 ...................Cech.................. TomP
I'm all for an attacking 4-4-2, but Grant has been a lot more in favour of the 4-5-1 so far this season - so our best squad (with everyone in top form) is in my opinion: .....................Cech........................... Bellitti........JT.........Carvalho..........Cole ......................Maka.......................... ...........Lampard.........Essien................ SWP............................................Cole ......................Drogba........................ With a bench of - Carlo, Alex, Ballack, Malouda, Anelka The hardest call is at left back. I think in their *best* form, Cole is better going forward than Bridge, and can keep up with pacey wingers a bit better - however, we have yet to see his best form in a Chelsea shirt. P.S. It is interesting to see people are going with a wingless 4-4-2 diamond system. We have played that quite a lot over the last few years, and looked god-awful every time. Sure, it fits all our top-class central midfielders in as well as 2 strikers, but makes us play pretty ugly football in the process. If we have to play with 2 strikers, I would prefer BlueBeard's team.

Basarabeanul
Cech A. Cole - Terry - Carvalho - Ferreira J. Cole - Lampard - Essien - Wright-Philips Shevchenko - Drogba Would be very interesting to watch, although I am not to happy that Ballack and Anelka are missing. Healthy competition always benefits the team, though.

mad_mac
if we are going to attack more, then I feel that we would play the following: ........................Cech Belletti........Carvs.........Terry.......Bridge .....................Essien .........Ballack................Lampard J Cole..........................................Malouda ......................Drogba if it is a tough European game, I think we would revert back to a diamond, thus: ..........................cech Paulo...........Carvs......terry......Bridge ......................Maka/Mikel ..............Essien.............Ballack .....................SWP/Lamps ..............Anelka..........Drogs Bench. Kalou, SWP, Belletti, Alex, Carlo I think to put Alex and terry in the same team slows up our CB pairing too much Scott

ozboy
Cech Belletti Carvalho, Terry A Cole Essien Ballack Lampard Anelka Drogba Kalou Subs, JC, SWP, Malouda and everyone else. The only problem with this line up is a lack of pace out wide.
