Buying A Jersey

I was discussing with a friend at work today what jersey I should buy for the upcoming season, and I couldn't pick a good one. There are a few players on the team that I really like but I don't know if I have an absolute favourite, plus with the aging squad and constant transfer talk I don't want to end up with a players shirt who isn't on the club anymore. So of the jerseys I would buy I cant decide-

Ballack- Isn't renegotiating anytime soon he says and only has 1 more year on the contract, plus he is 31

Lamps- may be out in a week

Essien- A safe pick I like to think

Terry- A good one because even if he retired tomorrow it'd still be nice wearing his kit

Joey- The front runner

Or i can just get a team shirt and save myself another 20 dollars.

Anyway, any advice would be nice.

Jersey??? No disrespect, mate...but, please, speak english! :o People on this side of the swamp call it a kit...or, even better, a football shirt!

As for me, I already have 6 CFC shirts from various seasons...few of them with No. 7 (my number) and my surname and nickname. Plus, I have last season's home shirt J. Cole 10!

If I were to buy a new one, it would DEFINITELY be away (black) kit with ESSIEN 5!

There's no such thing as a Chelsea Jersey!

If you want the new kit I'd say don't get a name on it, players come and go so it's always going to be a dangerous thing to do.

Agreed! I got myself the new kit already w/o any players name. =) So dont brood over it longer... Save yourself the 20dollars then! =)

Blimey, cut him some slack :D They say 'Jersey', others say different!

Go for Terry, when he lifts the Premiership in May, it would be a good to have the name on your shirt.

(I'm just going to grab some lunch from the Refrigerator  )

I've bought dozens of Chelsea shirts over the years, but never once had one with a name on the back. If I were to do so, I think I'd go for a Chelsea legend, like Ossie or Chopper, for instance. Peter Osgood, number 9 - how can you go wrong with that?

A fridge

hmmm, I think refrigerator is the right word to use instead of fridge. In French, you have to use refrigirateur instead of frigidaire, because there was a company with that name. I might be wrong, but anyway so I don't know if it applies for English as well  , Terry might be a good choice for your kit.

I'm getting the new black kit with Essien 5 ;)

Then the home kit is going to be personalised :D

Always the same every year for me :)

But in fairness, Kalou doesn't look like he's going anywhere...could be a possibility.

Blueday, look at it this way: even if the player goes tomorrow and you have their name on the back, there MUST be a reason why you got it there in the first place. i.e. for all the goals, tackles, legendary performances, etc.

For example, I have two of four Chelsea tops unmarked. One is the old "Fly Emirates" with the old CFC circle, and the other is last two seasons home kit. I am going to England in August, and while there I am gonna get Frank's name and number pressed into the first. That was the year we won the league for the first time in half a century, and I will never forget him scoring those goals against Bolton, or the season he had. And that doesnt at all affect my decision to wear that one because, anyway you cut it, Frank is a Chelesa legend.

The other one I was gonna get with 'Carvalho 6' on the back, just because i love Riccy and his gutsy performances. I know he's getting up there, but there will be plenty of other kits to buy for the younger players in future seasons.

The way I see it, you should honor your favorite players, their future be damned. Just has it dead on with his idea about club legends, too. If I saw someone in a modern kit with "Ossie 9" on the back, my first thought would not be "hey! that cant be right!". I would think it was great to see someone outside of the mix of current players and personal names on the back of a shirt

Now, still searching the internet for a lightly worn 'Duff 11'. Size 40'' chest, folks. Im open to suggestions :o

Well I went to the local football store looking for a last years kit I could get cheap, unfortunately they didn't have any and I wont pay $70 for a new one until the black one comes out. But I did not say "jersey" one time to the man working there it was strictly a kit I was looking for.

eBay, mate...eBay.co.uk to be exact. You can find last year's shirts for, I think, as less as 15 quid. And they are not fakes...just in case somebody tries to take a swing at me.

I never, ever bought anything from CFC store, apart from when I was actually at the Bridge. It is all mainly eBay, from people selling their own memorabilia. And now, thanks to eBay, I have 5 CFC shirts, 2 polo shirts, 4 England shirts...scarfs, stickers...and about 30-ish corinthian figures :D

But, over the CFC store website it is just waaaaaay to expensive for my pocket.
