No Premiership Games the Weekend so we are going to skip the weekender bet this week,

just to keep us gamblers interested here's a poll to see if we think there will be any upsets...

pick your idea of the most likely and I will sling a couple of quid on the top two choices for the weekend, any returns to the shed end kitty.

Thanks

I left out the two all premiership ties.

be interesting if you post who and why but obviously it's up to you.

I've gone for Peterborough causing an upset (basically cos Adrian Childs is rumoured to be getting hold of Christine Blakely the jammy bugger) no I just thing the Baggies have got enough worrying about relegation and might put out a weak team.

I'll pick Bristol City. Their form in the last couple of games has been good and Pompey are looking dreadful at the moment under Tony Adams.

I also reckon Southampton will give United a tough game at St. Mary's. It will be a welcome distraction from their relegation battle and United will probably put out a weakened team.

Southend because I'm a miserable f**ker.

Aw, come on, Lofty. You're not miserable B)

Actually I would say Southend too. The way we're playing and the way we've made a habit of losing against weaker teams in the cups makes me feel like we're going to lose against Southend. I hope we're both wrong though. I hope a miracle happens and Chelsea thrash them and wins by 10-0 or something while Carlo (I guess Cech is resting) is sitting by our goal and having cup of tea with Valerie.

Just to say although I admire your pessimism, I wont actually place a bet on Chelsea to lose, if this option is in the top 2 I will just put the £2 in the shed end kitty.

Cheers

Not so much pessimism, Chris, as realism. It's only a few weeks since we lost at home to Burnley, and less than a year since we were beaten at Barnsley in the FA Cup.

40+ years of supporting Chelsea through thick and thin (mostly thin) tends to leave a man a tad cynical B)

That depends on the man Steve,

It's only a few weeks ago we played out of our skins against a very good Villa side, why should the bad results be the ones we dwell on?

to be honest I think we played quite well at Fulham, a couple of defensive errors cost us but if that sort of performance is not enough to dispatch Southend I might have a little dabble on them for the Cup.

Also on a serious note,

I do these little bet things to sling some money in to the pot for the forum, I'm not making money out of it, do you think it's right that because people get the hump with us not being top of the league for the new year (simplified for boredom limitation) that they should expect me to throw money away on unlikely results just to make some sort of point?

I wouldn't give a sh*t if it was Man UTD we were playing, my money would not go against us.

I'm with you all the way on that mate - I might moan about Chelsea a fair bit, but I'd never bet against my own club. As a Chelsea fan I feel that it's my right to moan about the bad times just as it's my right to celebrate the good - but I'd never tolerate a non-Chelsea fan criticising the club as I do B) :D

would a draw be considered an upset?

The draw at Fulham upset me.

So did the draw at Everton ...

So did the draw against the Pikeys ...

So did the draw against the Geordies ...

So did the draw against Scum from N17 ...

And as for Atvidaberg.

I still get nightmares about that one, especially when Johnny Hollins missed that penalty...

Away goals is a stupid rule anyway

You must be the only person on the planet who thinks that :D Trust me Southampton will get thumped, theyve had to loan out or sell all their.....erm decent players and are playing kids. Though the game might be a good chance to see how Jack Cork handles himself against a premiership team, he's been playing regularly for saints at right back and in the middle.

He's playing in two positions? No wonder Saints are struggling, don't they realise they can use 11 players?

looking at their recent results i wouldnt be suprised if he was playing in both positions :D

I went for Plymouth over Arsenal. Plymouth are alright and Arsenal has an awful tendency to play down their opposition. I think if they don't get an early goal they get a little bit antsy and are vulnerable. Besides, there's a chance Wenger may get cocky and play one too many of his kids.
