Sorry mate, nothing personal - just the day's frustration coming out!

There are no easy answers and right now it doesn't seem that AVB and his back room team have any. I and quite a few others saw the short comings of the squad last season and during the summer while others were insisting that our squad was still as good as anyones. We have to accept that as good as they have been in the past, players like Lamps, Drogba, Cole & Malouda are not going to get us through this and they are only going to decline further (despite the odd good game now & again). The trouble is, the alternatives we currently have, such as Miereles and Torres are no alternatives at all.

It's a mess which should have been dealt with long before now and we'll just have to wait to see whether AVB get's the chance to put things right during the summer or whether the club wheel in yet another manager and he has a go.

I think we've all been a bit the same recently mate.

I actually thought Star made an excellent assessment in another thread about how poor we are really being run top to bottom at the moment. When a guy like Borini leaves on a free because he wants an improved deal, and we buy Lukaku for I presume a similar wage + fee, then Lukaku sits in the reserves and Borini smacks them in everywhere for Roma, something is wrong.

What was required in the summer with Arnesen gone, and a new manager to come in, was someone to come in as an experienced reformer and rebuild the structure top to bottom. In the end Emenalo, who is Roman's lackey was hired as DOF, AVB was brought in, without the experience and respect to reshape the club off the pitch or on it, and Robbie D was bought in to placate us after we sacked Carlo and Butch.

We all wanted to believe in AVB, but the truth is. Overhauling this team, and overcoming the inherent problems in the way the club is run, would have been a challenge for a great manager with 30 years experience, let alone one with 18 months in the hot seat.

So he will go, and we will pay him out, and make another loss, and Tore will keep bagging assists, Borini will keep bagging goals and we'll spend a fortune on another 'next big thing' and leave him on the bench next season. This is the way it is here. Many were saying last season, when demanding Carlo be sacked that we operated on a continual process of chaos and change, that it was how we win trophies. That was bollocks then, and it's shown to be even more ridiculous now.

What we need is someone who will be given the power to reshape this club along the lines of best practice, not some ridiculous polycracy where each hopes to look after their own area, and hope to keep in Roman's good graces. Not a club where someone like Emenalo can be the main man, despite being ridiculously under-qualified for the job he holds.

Hiddink was the man for the job because he has Roman's trust. He could have been given the chance to do that. But we dallied and he is gone, and I'd hesitate to say there is only one other man who has enough of Roman's respect to be given the chance to do the job that needs to be done. That is Jose. He will win La Liga and complete his short term goals. What we need to offer him in the summer is a chance to build something greater, to build a legacy beyond a couple of seasons. To build this club in his image in the same way Ferguson or Wenger or Sacchi have build clubs in theirs.

But I doubt that will happen, we will chase the next pot of gold, at the end of the next rainbow, and we'll do it again in two years time. Roman has bought us much, and he'll bring us more yet. But this chaos, this feeling of irrationality, is the price we pay.
