Following our Nearest & Dearest Rivals 2020/21
Supposedly Connolly initiated the contact. Obviously thats bullsh*t but VAR never removed the problem of referees having no one to be accountable to so this nonsense will continue. Funny how Christensen's tackle last week was an easy decision and blatant foul (it was) yet there is doubt manufactured over this incident. Bar Christensen putting his arms around Mane its basically the same call.

He already blew the final whistle when Brighton cleared the ball!

A game that was over re-started for the benefit of man utd. Utterly ridiculous.

Taking that pen away from Brighton sets a ridiculous precident! You see fouls for defenders leaning onto players literally multiple times in every game, it was no real difference to Christensen last week.

I get we need to have a game plan, be smart and we have many players unavailable but I don't like seeing players out of position when we have proper position options available. Hope we can put a few decent moves together as well, we look particularly unispired at the moment.

Super Frank Lampard
The "winning mentality" we got under Jose was definitely a positive and helped build a strong mentality the first time he was here but I think you're over-emphasising its importance a bit, it wasn't the most important thing that led to that period of success and there certainly isn't just one fool-proof way of building this squad up to fulfilling the potential it has. We're in a totaly different situation now compared to 16 years ago, not putting too much pressure on a young squad and inexperienced manager and being reasonable with expectations could be even more important in the long run than getting that first trophy under our belts is.

Your view of Ronaldinho is how I see Ronaldo, the Brazilian one, not the pretender. Amazing player! Imagine if he'd stayed more injury free!

Welcome Ross Barkley
No idea what you're seeing when watching him! The bolded bit is particularly ironic. He's ponderous and indicisive on the ball, the quality of his final ball in particular seems to be getting worse recently! Not a player you can rely on to change a game when needed. He's had a few good moments but like with his time at Everton, consistancy is his problem and there's been few signs of that getting any better.

As much as him leaving would leave us a bit short in the wide positions I do think its the right time for him to go anyway, we've seen his best and we know his limitations. For me we shoud give CHO the trust and game time and see what happens. Two years was obviously what the club wanted which makes sense for us but if the 4 year arsenal contract rumour is true then it wont be too hard a decision I'd imagine.- Willian
Not a different enviroment at all, just that in the majority of cases where it happens it is pathetic as well as hilarious from an opposition fans point of view. Turning on and booing/slagging off ex (and current) players is something Arsenal fans are particularly well known for with many players and I'd rather we steer clear of it with players who have, for the most part, been good players for us. Also, like you said, he hasn't done any bad mouthing, scoring against us (not for 7 years anyway) nor taunting of the shed. So far all that has happened is that there are rumours of him leaving at the end of his contract and going to an inferior club for reasons unknown. Hardly hitting the heights of Poyet yet is he?- Following our Nearest & Dearest Rivals 2019/20
His minutes are basically going to depend entirely on how injured or suspended Laporte is... very strange move for him.- Willian
IF he goes to arsenal then regardless of the circumstances of his contract I hope we don't sink to their fans' clown-esque level with our reaction to him. It would be utterly embarrassing to see our fans turn on and jeer him the way theirs do/did to Fabregas, Cole, Cech, Luiz, Giroud, Gallas, Anelka, Petit....... Mustafi, Xhaka, Henry, Ramsey, Van Persie, Nasri, Clichy, Sagna, Toure, Adebayor, Song....... Bendtner, Vermaelen, Sczcesny, Fabianski, Eboue, Chamberlain, Walcott, Overmars, Vieira, to name just a few.- Super Frank Lampard
I can't see us having a massive (by massive I actually mean expensive) overhaul of our defence after bringing in Werner, Ziyech and possibly Havertz. Add in that there seems to be a real dearth of real quality and available defenders, particularly centre backs. It's a shame Dortmund only re-signed Hummels a year ago otherwise he would have been a great and not totally unrealistic player to go for. I don't know how much he's "lost it" in the last few years but maybe an ancient and out of contract Thiago Silva would be a decent option- Chelsea V Arsenal: FA Cup Final Saturday 1st August 17:30 GMT
Media so far pushing the one with the delayed pause. Nothing will come of it. Taylor will get games to f**k us over next season.- Super Frank Lampard
An experienced defensive coach would be good i feel. I don't think it should be too embarassing for Frank to admit he needs a hand with that element of the game.- Super Frank Lampard
I'm not seeing what you are regarding us getting control back. I thought we looked lost and directionless, everything going forward seemed a bit desperate. I know the ref was sh*t but ultimately it's just a bit of a cop out isn't it? We weren't good enough, created nothing bar our goal and let them take control and get the win in another cup final against them.- Reece James
His positioning seems all over the place as well, I don't know if its a tactic or him not concentrating but he drifts into the middle and leaves acres of space out wide. Where was he for their second as well? With Dave off he shouldn't have let Aubamayang out of his sight. Still hopeful for him as there is potential there but he needs to step up whilst he still has the chance to make it at this level.- Super Frank Lampard
We lost control after 10 minutes and never regained that, Arsenal did break through and scored before half time and looked like getting another before half time, they were all over us for about 5 minutes just before the break. He needs to react to things earlier when the game turns against us. It doesn't have to be a sub, it can be a word to the player, setting the backline further back or a change of formation. As far as I can tell none of that happened.- Super Frank Lampard
Don't want to go on too much of a rant after a fantasic season for us and Frank but he f**ked up a lot today, regardless of the ref and VAR. We'd lost control of the game by 10-15 minutes and he did nothing to change anything, it was clear they were targeting our right side, James and Dave's game should've been amended to cope with this. The two in midfield were overun and constantly resorted to passing to the back 3, a third player was needed there and it was clear very early on. Bringing on Pedro was a massive mistake as our already static attacking game then had a player whose legs went at least a year ago. The triple substitution was 20 minutes too late, Hudson-Odoi should've come on for Pulisic earlier and Kante should've come on instead of Barkley. I've tried to be level headed with Barkley but he just isn't good enough, we needed drive and momentum in the middle and lacking a peak Essien and the odd glimpse of this from Kova, Kante is the best we have for that We threw that game away and it was infuriating to lose another cup final to such a mediocre club in such a meek and preventable way. Lots of work for Frank in the summer and replacing our back 4 isn't enough on it's own. Many players have potential that needs to be worked on with their flaws and failings ironed out and Frank also needs to work on how he handles and changes games as they progress.- Chelsea V Arsenal: FA Cup Final Saturday 1st August 17:30 GMT
There's abolutely no point getting angry over the ref. No matter how justified, a ref will NEVER face stick for how badly they do. - Willian
