Yeah well that's because he knows how to deliver a decent pass, something that you cannot expect from Lampard and very rarely from Ballck, dont expect anything from Mikel except a red card. Frank Lampard is a great player but considering his recent perfomances what makes you so damn sure that he is irreplaceable. Lampard is a chelsea legend but as soon as he leaves chelsea it will be better for everyone concerned. I want to remember him as a player who lead Chelsea to great heights in his prime, not as someone constantly delivering rubbish perfomances and now a shadow of his former self. So i think that Van Der Vaart can replace Lampard and may add a new dimension to our game.

You know what was great about todays match and the past few matches that have past by. Even though we dont have our 7 first team players, but still we win or atleast get a draw. I laud all the players who have been playing regularly for the past few weeks as their perfomances hav been nothing less than great. Manu were without their ronaldo and rooney and they lost to bolten, Arsenal without their first team players and they lose too. Even though we have not won today, but i am not going to say anything against the players. Just when we were missing all our majors players, we were about to break the club record for highest consecutive wins. It coulnot get any better. I do not only applaud the players but also the management. I salute all the chelsea players on the field today. And not only to them but also to Avram who has been nothing short of sensational. I couldnt love chelsea any more than i already do. Shame on Manu, even though you had all your players but you still coudnot win against Spurs. Chelsea for life.

I already gave answer to this question in the chelsea vs Tottenham thread pg 10. Mikel can never replace Makalele or for that matter anyone in this world. What's amazing about him is that even though he is a defensive midfielder he hardly ever gets a red card. Many people harp on about how good Roy Keane was as a DMF but he was never as good as Makalele. SOme say that he is a human shadow, some say he is the smilling assassin i say that he has always been the backbone of any team he has ever played for. People keep on talking about ho good players like c.ronaldo and ronaldinhio are but frankly speaking they will never be as vital to a team as makalele is to every team that he has played for. Every player can play defensively but no one can play like makalele. When asked who was the best player in the real squad Zizou said that it was Makalele. It was no coincidence that real stopped winning tittles when makalele left their team. Although players like Makalele never receive international recogniton for what they do but for me he has been the best chelsea player for the past 4 years. I think it is mikel's badluck that he has to replace someone like makalele.

We shudn't be discussing whether it is a penalty or not. Once Ballck falls it sure is a penalty. What's more he gets the refree's decision his way. Before him it was not very frequently that we had penalties. THogh what we should be discussing is how he takes these penalties. Absolutely superb. Dusn't seem to miss it even with his eyes closed. I rate him as a better penalty taker than anyone in the premiership except Arteta.

I wonder what will happen when Lampard returns from injury. At the moment Ballack is a far better player as he can give nice thru passes take good free kicks and even scores from them. Although Lampard might be running all over the pitch but he doesnt provide any quality service to our strikers. His freekicks are sh*t and i dont feel comfortable when he is taking freekicks. So even when Lampard returns from injury i will expect Ballck to start ahead of him. But i know that that will never happen. Avram will go for reputation rather than player's current form.
