City fan here, and not posted on here for 9 years I think. 
Just wanted to say a load of us on bluemoon are absolutely gutted to see Palmer leave, me included. Having watched him come up through the academy, he's an incredible talent and IMO will go on to be world class and better than Foden. The lad can do everything and although it didn't really click for him last season (I think he was just trying up hard to impress) you could see he has talent to burn.
This transfer will be remembered just as much, if not more than Mourinho selling KDB. In a year or so - maybe less - the media will be saying "What on earth was Pep thinking, letting Palmer go". You can bookmark this!

Whilst of course I don't my claim to know more than the great man, I also know that whilst he is the arguably the best manager around, he's not incapable of error - no-one is. He gets a lot wrong, just less wrong than most.
That said, I believe Palmer wanted to leave and Pep has always said he doesn't want players who don't want to play for us, so maybe he wanted to keep him? (I'll gloss over the double-standards in respect of Bernardo Silva).
