With all being great defenders It's hard to choose between them but I believe a partnership should be chosen not individuals and as far as partnerships go, Terry and Carvalho are IMO the best defensive partnership in the Premiership, if not the world. Alex has been brilliant but if you pick the team with purely football in mind with no emotion It's Jt and Carvlaho everytime. I also agree with Loz, Carvalho has been our best defender for a year and a half so he would be the last person I would drop.

I hardly think one good game is enough to gain a starting slot in such important games.I'm not saying he doesn't deserve a chance but to take a risk like this in these games would be plain stupid. Now that we finally have all our players back fit and some of the most important games of the season next should we give the kid a chance now? After waiting so long to get the more established players back I hardly see them not getting a game whilst Sinclair, who has been and barely made the bench through the injury crisis that we have just survived, playing now that we have everyone to choose from.

David James has been the form keeper for over a year so it has to be him. Think the young boy Hart at City should get a look in as well though

Sounds about a pretty decent assesment of what is needed to improve our squad and I would especialy like to see Ricardo Quaresma in a Chelsea shirt as he is an exciting talent. He has got a bit of a reputation but then again so does Anelka, right? One thing I don't agree with though is selling Shevchenko as the form he has showed recently was quite encouraging, in the sense that he would be a more than decent third choice striker behind Drogba and Anelka obviously and given his attitude there would be no moaning and whingeing about lack of first team football or whatever he would just get on with his job. Don't liek the idea of signing Huntelaar one bit as I feel he is vastly overrated. He isn't very fast and isn't very strong which is the two main things you would want in a striker. I definitely would not describe him as a target man either. I think you have the right idea age wise but I feel someone like Benzema would be a better option.

Ashley Cole looked up for it and fought hard all game, MOTM hands down.

Do we really have one already? I don't see neither Essien nor Mikel as a new Makelele. Neither do I, but they have all been labeled as such, just as Diarra was. We should stop trying to look for the "next makelele" as whoever comes in will never get near Makelele, he is as close to perfection in that role as possible, but he isn't the only good defensive midfielder out there so look for one of them and not just hopelessly try and find his clone somewhere.

God how many next Makeleles do we need?
