On the one hand, I wouldn't be surprised if the board appointed Iraola, as he's an up and coming coach, young and with potential (and we know how that turns on the SDs and board members). On the other hand, his style of play is completely different from what the Club has been trying to play for seasons and we haven't got the personal to play high intensity, fast-flowing, forward football. I've said before, I like him, he was one of my favourite players as well, but I don't want him to come here, much like Cesc. It's not what we need right now, we need some experienced coach that has won titles in a strong European league and that has experience dealing with a complicated group of players and that can instil some discipline into this group of annoying players.

Squad will need a small overhaul to fit his play style, could be the end of Reece as well. Unless Iraola has a change of heart.

Owners should admit their mistake, scrap the SD's and bring in an interim with some experience over international break.

If you are going to bring in young talented players (with no older experienced spine), the least that should be done is to pair with an extremely experienced manager. This nonsense hiring inexperienced frauds was always going to end up in a total f**king mess

Feeling like the end of this season is gonna be a stinker compared to the last. Unfortunately, I just can’t see us making top 5 and without Reece, it just gets harder.

He should have got the surgery at the start of the season. I don't know if it's his decision or the medical team, but it's ruined his season and ruining his chances of even getting a call up to the world cup at all. He's barely played under Tuchel and is currently behind Rogers, Foden and Bellingham. I don't see how he even gets in in his current condition.
He's going to have to get it done eventually anyway, so waiting like this is just going to hurt him next season too.

As much as I was underwhelmed with this appointment, from the few clips of interviews I have seen, he comes across really well. Nice to have an English coach who was born very close to The Bridge.
He at least talks a good game - lets just hope that translates to the pitch.

There’ll surely be something in the contract about a review date, similar to what Poch and Maresca had that will allow for a cheaper parting. Unless it’s mid season next year 😅

The more that comes out the more I think it’s already done and should we lose to City, we’ll be saying goodbye and hello to someone far worse.

If and when they replace Maresca it will be with somebody who is willing to work under the constraints of their project and with the existing Sporting Directors. So that would rule out most serious candidates. I am pretty sure that Maresca has effectively dug his own hole out of the club with those comments earlier in December about not being backed. Under Blueco, I think that was more damaging to his future at the club than the current run of results.

Maresca put out the right team, made the right subs, we won away from home in a game everyone said we'd find sticky.

By all accounts it seems precautionary.
He played three 90min PL matches in a row in a variety of positions. He also suffered a bad gash on his leg at the end of the Liverpool match too.
