A Messi A Messi, My Kingdom for a Messi
Saw the first 45 minutes, watched the Klitschko "fight" and then caught the last 15 minutes, the amount of malicious kicks Messi took in the first half was ludicrous, Fergie should reassess his view that Ronaldo doesn't get enough protection as he's positively wrapped in cotton wool compared to Messi if tonight was anything to go on.

PL, Chelsea vs Arsenal, 30/11/08, 1600 GMT
Sadly when it comes to us playing top teams we have as much penetration as a convent.

That wasn't the shot on target, Lamp's header was.

PL, Chelsea vs Arsenal, 30/11/08, 1600 GMT
So the events conspired against us and we were found wanting... again. It's becoming a nasty habit and one we need to break soon. Mind you if we continue to be so lacking in the final third we're going to continue to struggle against teams of any calibre. Can someone tell me what the f*ck Anelka contributed today, for the life of me I can't think of any instance.

Got to say our bench looks pretty weak attacking wise, Stoch is highly unlikely to get on, which therefore means we have one attacking player in Malouda to call on, hardly fills me with confidence should events go against us. Is Sinclair injured or just not fancied?

What 5 things would make you love football again?
Some good ones already, especially getting rid of players being booked for celebrating a goal. A particular bugbear of mine. 1. I'd like to see the players lighten up a bit and enjoy their football, I don't want to watch players sulk, it winds me up as they're getting paid shedloads. 2. Following on from point one, when there is a bit of aggro, don't book/send off players for namby pamby handbags, case in point Drogba's slap on Vidic, it was laughable, fair enough if someone throws a punch or headbutting. 3. I'd quite like to be able to hear what the ref's are saying regarding decisions (like in rugby), it would force the officials to consider their decsions as everyone would know what the decision is for and hopefully lead to less debatable ones. Also not that I mind it that much, it could reduce the amount of verbals that the ref suffers, although I wouldn't hold my breath on that. 4. Less protection for Ronaldo. 5. Saint Stevie G retiring.

Correct Score Poll/bet Vs Arsenal
1-1, I can see us conceding early and then fluffing loads of chances until we score a late goal, possibly a penalty. I hope I'm wrong and we hammer them but on recent form I think it would be folly to predict anything other than a tight game.

We were sh*t tonight, plain and simple and no excuses.

Lukas Podolski
Only 23, got a good goal scoring record and for me was one of the best players at the Euros. Anybody know anything more about him, would he be a worthwhile purchase? http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/no...manchester-city

Football Manager
Just started playing the new one as Chelsea (I like to ease myself back into it), it's a bit depressing how poorly our youngsters are rated in the game, so I brought some in, Alexandr Prudnikov (19, ST), Henri Saivet (17, AM RL, FC) each £5.75m and Sergio Mota (18, AM LC) for £6.5m. Trying to get Huntelaar but Ajax aren't playing ball, the b*stards. I must say I'm not too enamored with the "3D" match engine, I'll give it a chance though and see if it grows on me.

Sh*t result and not that surprising. We've been found out, park the bus and we have no idea. I bet Bordeaux will have taken note.

What player would you bring to chelsea if you could?
I'd love to see Messi play for us although I doubt it will ever happen, my second choice would be Aguero which is a more likely prospect.

Penalties - again
Fair enough, I agree that we should have given the youngsters a run out, if this wasn't the game to give them minutes on the pitch then when is the game? Sadly I don't think they'll get a chance at all this season now barring a major injury crisis. I understand where you're coming from with Ferreira, Mineiro, Deco & Malouda, but I maintain that they should have been good enough to beat Burnley despite their now obvious failings. Is Scolari incompetent? I'm beginning to think he may be, the thing is we're stuck with him for the foreseeable future.

Penalties - again
You're missing my point, if I was to have said to you this afternoon that the team for tonights game was: Cudicini, Ivanovic, Alex, Belletti, Bridge, Ferreira, Deco, Mineiro, Malouda, Drogba, Kalou. I'm guessing that you would think them good enough to beat Burnley, I know it didn't turn out to be, but at the start of the game you'd put money on them getting a result, maybe not a drubbing but at the very least a convincing victory.
-
Penalties - again
You said Therefore I said we did have a decent team out, which makes it all the more galling when they don't perform. I apologise for confusing you.
-
Penalties - again
The side that started was more than good enough to beat Burnley, that's what's most galling about tonight's result.

LC 4th Round, Chelsea vs Burnley, 12/11/08, 19:45 GMT
Oh dear oh dear oh dear, what an embarrassing result and we can't even use the excuse of playing a second string side what with all the first team players that were involved.

Big Brother is watching YOU
Some quotes that sum up my feelings about e-snooping. "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." Voltaire "Relying on the government to protect your privacy is like asking a peeping tom to install your window blinds." John Perry Barlow "People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people." V for Vendetta To be apathetic about this proposal is to be complicit in the making of a totalitarian regime. Totalitarianism (or totalitarian rule) is a concept used to describe political systems where a state regulates nearly every aspect of public and private life. Totalitarian regimes or movements maintain themselves in political power by means of an official all-embracing ideology and propaganda disseminated through the state-controlled mass media, a single party that controls the state, personality cults, control over the economy, regulation and restriction of free discussion and criticism, the use of mass surveillance, and widespread use of terror tactics. The term was applied to Fascist Italy, Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. A perfect example of a present-day Totalitarian state is North Korea. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Totalitarian

Shocking result and shocking decisions both by the ref and Scolari. We are being hamstrung by an ineffectual striker in Mr Anelka.
