I should have been specific to the individual. What i meant is that individuals who take set pieces will have higher assist and it doesn't really give an indication of there ability to be creative from open play. Agree re penaltys and I had a lot at it seems this Alex fella has 5 from his tally which isn't bad. Not that any of it speaks to wheather or not he will succeed or fail if we even buy him

I disagree, I would say most of the time an assist is a corner or free kick, so it will only attest to a) the players set piece ability and b) the people on the end of it. I think last season 20+ of our goals came from defenders? this will be mostly from set pieces and a large number of fabregases assists

Think this about sums it up. Probably his most successful season was the one that we only signed deluca (who it turned out we hadn't even signed) limited for options he had to play a consistent team (I understand we came 4th and 2nd the following season but when i take in to account the players at his disposal i'd go with the 4th place season)
