jony92 reacted to Scott Harris in BlueCo buy Chelsea FCBenitez wasn't sacked, he just wasn't hired on a permanent deal because it was a toxic fit.
Mourinho had his meltdown like he does at every club, same as Conte, but they are miles ahead of Potter. Their achievements back that up.
Sarri wasn't sacked, he left for Juventus.
Tuchel wasn't incompent, he should still be Chelsea manager right now.

jony92 got a reaction from RomansRoubles in Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea Managerhow can you sack an amazing proven coach like Tuchel (avg 2,1 points per game at Chelsea, 2,3p at PSG, 2,1 at Dortmund, back to back CL final with two different teams) for a mediocre core coach like Potter (1,5 points per game at Chelsea and never ever reached >1,7 p avg in his career) is beyond me. The Americans do not understand in football it is all about the right coach and strategy and not about buying some fancy expensive talents. They should sell the club to somebody who knows what they are doing.

They really should have waited until they had the sporting directors in, before sacking a CL winning manager and appointing Graham Hodgson. You can spend all the money you want, but if the manager has no clue, it's all a total waste.

jony92 reacted to weetee in BlueCo buy Chelsea FCHe was challenging for #1 in the league around this time last year IIRC, (also featuring in basically all but one cup finals) and then the squad was hit by injuries and of course the whole Russian thingy with a new ownership that had jacksh*t of experience of Football and at least a plan to integrate experienced replacements for Marina and Petr that failed spectacularly - safe to say that the summer transfer window was always going to be hugely improvised. Sacking then a high level manager who at least showed before he could get Chelsea rolling (and just had his squad replacements finalised the day before he was sacked) looks bad. Really bad. Bringing in half of Brighton looking even worse afterwards looks like the next big question mark.

I won't post about this topic again because I feel like I've said most of my own personal points, but there's one last part of this debate I'd like to discuss.
I don't understand the argument of form, it was literally the start of the season when he was sacked. The season is a marathon not a sprint, so what if we started slow, City have started slow and won the league before as have other teams. The opposite is also true a team starts well and then falls off. It's the epl anything can happen.
TT I think is still underrated by some fans, I think the fact so many can disregard his achievements blows my mind. He's gone now and we have to back Potter I get those fans, but the ones that try to be reductionist about the calibre of coach he is, that is something I don't understand.
The exact same ones saying this is why Pep or Klopp couldn't join us because we don't see out a project and we don't back the manager when times get tough, here's a prime example in TT and they don't think it's the same thing. Why back Potter, but not TT?
TT was the first manager to go to back to back ucl finals with different teams. I don't think people are giving him enough credit for that. That's insane like you'd have to be such a good coach to be able to do this, no way you can say it's the players, when he's the common denominator. It's like starting from scratch and he did it with us in 6 months even less time than he had with PSG.
The man won the ucl with a front 3 of Havertz, Werner and Mount. Who tf in world football could accomplish that? Don't get me wrong when played correctly they actually do compliment each other, but really that's not a world class front line it has no business winning a ucl.
In a 100 games we contested 6 finals. Why is it that being a cup team is so bad. Only one team can win the league why don't people get this. What honestly sounds better to you? Having no chance at the league and playing like a mid table team, trying to build whilst outside or at best just inside the top 6 hoping for a decent cup run. Or being inside the top 4/6 pretty much guaranteed come the end of the season and knowing you're likely to do well in the cups oh and guess what you can still be building towards the future. Because essentially that's Potter vs Tuchel.
At least with TT while you're building towards the future you're also attempting to be as competitive now as possible. Either way you're not really winning the league anytime soon at least with Tuchel you had a chance at silverware each season. 3 trophies in under 2 seasons is a good trophy ratio he was tailor made for this club literally knew the standards of the club and was intertwined with Chelsea DNA.
This is the final post I'll make on the matter I've resigned myself to back Potter until its quite literally untenable, but this decision by Boehly to remove a top performer in their field and gamble with a wildcard seems pretty questionable for a businessman we're told is good at what he does. If someone genuinely thinks Potter is more qualified for a long-term project for an elite club than Thomas Tuchel I can't help you, you're basically drinking Boehly's kool aid.
Tuchels projects include rejuvenating Dortmund after Klopps burnout. Taking PSG the project that no coach has been able to succeed with, within 90 mins of their cherished trophy and they lost 1-0 to a Bayern side which despite how good they were that season could have easily lost that game with better finishing from PSG.
And finally taking a Chelsea side 9th (10th when we kicked off) when he joined to a double cup final a top 4 place and something a lot of fans selectively have forgotten twice denying Pep first the quadruple and then triple. He was also there trying to deny Klopp a season later. I'm sure someone will come out with Potter could potentially do all of this if given the backing, transfers, time etc.
Tuchel did all of this with a squad that wasn't his, in a position lower down than when Potter joined, with a team that hadn't won a big trophy for 2 seasons (if we count the Europa which the new signings hadn't been a part of). Meanwhile Potter inherits the champions of the world and former continental champions and rather than see an improvement we see further decline.
Again it's not Potter's fault I won't blame him for what Boehly has done. I will however blame Potter for results if we fail to make any improvements by the end of the season.

jony92 got a reaction from Simplymo in Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea ManagerSo what? PL is not just 7/8 months. The reasons were no Chilwell, no James for the majority of that period? See how Potter does when James is missing?
And btw poor form? Actually the only poor form was after those two were injured in December when there were so many covid cases and everyone got their games postponed except Chelsea. And at the end of the season with 5 points of 4 games.
But! Last season we were constantly top 4 and had 7 points to Tottenham and 1 game less on match day 34!
7 out of 9 games were won from match day 26th to 34th. 3 games with 6:0, 3:0, 4:0. There was no chance to reach Liverpool and City and that's how it's been for the last part of the season and top 4 seemed super safe at that time. This explains for me why the form was not amazing in the last part of the season. I've seen it a hundred times with teams in the league when the there is nothing to play for anymore. When city was way ahead they lost 3 of the last 8. When Bayern is miles away in the Bundesliga they suddenly start loosing a lot of matches, PSG same.
Looking back at the stats again. Still the dumbest decision to sack Tuchel. Yes the football was not the most entertaining in many games in his last half year but chilly and James were key for his games. This season he would have done great after the transfers had settled in.
Potter will be ok but he is not good enough and he will not win any major trophies.

jony92 got a reaction from RomansRoubles in Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea ManagerI explained why in my opinion the last 8 months weren't top 4 level but it doesn't mean it's on TT. No chill well no James, Covid and being pretty safe after on 34. match day at top 4. If Tottenham and Arsenal would have been better last season, I'm sure that Chelsea would have more points as well because the mentality is just different when you are seriously challenged. It just proves that TT was a f**king good coach as with all the sh*t going on last season, he managed to have Top 4 nearly secured on 34. match day.
you don't know the reason? it's pretty clear, had to rebuild f**king whole defense?? chillwell not 100% at all yet. No Kova, no kante for most games, Transfers coming very late. Many players not sure if the stay or not. Seriously is not always so easy to perform top level..
It's not on the manager but on the players, you need to focus 100% to win but if your brain says it basically just for fun now and other teams fight to stay in the league or to make it top 4 it's just psychological a different thing. or is Pep sh*t because he lost 3 out 7 then? or Pep at Bayern when he lost a lot of games after being 20p away. Can't motivate them can he?
Every good coach has a period of time when the team is not performing and most of the time there are many reasons for it. Look at Arteta, needed just time to built a nice squad, and sort out the players, Pep same, Klopp has a lot of injuries right now..but a good coaches they turn it around and seriously TT just did not get a chance when he deserved the chance.

jony92 got a reaction from Sexyfootball in Callum Hudson-Odoino, he's been really poor the last games. Only against atletico and freiburg he was decent. He is way too overhyped imho.
But Leverkusen have been poor this season and might get a new coach very soon, so maybe that will help.

jony92 got a reaction from Kev56 in Official Thomas Tuchel *Now Sacked*Bullsh*t. His style of football has been attractive apart for the last 20 games or so. Even in this row of games there were very attractive matches against Tottenham and Liverpool in the FA CUP Final. It's not easy to play amazing football if they park the bus and you don't have any good attacking players that create space. Also he showed attractive attacking football at PSG and BVB. And what dodgy league record are you talking about? With the squad he had, he achieved the maximum 3rd place.
Is it luck to make 2 CL finals, 2 FA CUP Finals, 1 League Cup Final in just 2 years?
Every top 5 club will consider him when they sack their manager.
Apparently Boehly came in and showed Tuchel how Chelsea is supposed to play 4-3-3 in the future. Tuchel wanted De Ligt, De Jong, Kimpembe (Source: The athletic). Did not get any of these players. Boehly just wanted to focus on data for transfers while for Tuchel it's important to talk to the players and look at their character as well. Boehly wanted Ronaldo, TT didn't.
This sacking was planned for weeks. Boehly just wanted a yes man and that's what he's got now.

I'm pretty sure the main team was behind Tuchel except for the forwards (what a coincidence that Zyiech, Pulisic, Harvertz, haven't posted any goodbyes). They all think they are better than they are. It's not on Tuchel even in the best of times they missed so much chances. And none of them proofed to be an elite premier league player. I don't think Potter will suddenly make them world class players. They are just not good enough. Same with Werner. They are not bad players but nothing for the Top 4 and ball-possession football. They need space to shine.

jony92 reacted to chelseaFanLA in Official Thomas Tuchel *Now Sacked*You're kidding yourself if you think that the current owner doesn't care about the team as much as the Russian owner might have. Do you realize that the players who are on the current squad, outside of the players that were just brought in, were pretty much all part of the previous ownership. Do you also realize that TT's offensive scheme has sucked everywhere and he has been sacked at two of the other football giants and top teams in their league.
You can say what you want about Pulisic but the truth is he was NOT favored under TT. The guy is still only 23 so you're talking about a player with a wealth of potential that lost his spot due to injury and has been plagued with injuries thus not been given a fair shot to reclaim it. One can also argue that he's not of the quality to regain it which I would agree with but the personality differences with TT, who hates to be called out by ANY player (see Lukaku), was a big reason for this. You can honestly tell me that the offense is tidy and aggressive and the goals are flowing? So why not give Pulisic the chance he has plenty of quality and has shown glimpses of his ability. But not for only 15-20 minutes a match, that's a hard proposition for any player.
Lastly, one thing many fail to mention, is that the VAR decision on the weekend should not have reversed that goal. I don't care who you support this is incontestable. So that too should have been a draw vs. a win. This squad under TT will go nowhere, so why not try this same squad under Potter, the results certainly can't be worse.
