I think it's more likely that the in 3-4 years time he will be sold for between 30 and 50m than it is he will be sold, or worth, 85m+
And look if we dont sign Wharton or Scott then this is a sign that we are downgrading our team. If we sign either of them then it's simply a squad upgrade

Think the big difference is Fernandes played every minute of each season. I can’t tell you how good Santos is having watched every single minute of Chelsea since he joined. He’s hardly played any football.

Santos only ever completed 3 full PL games playing 1200 minutes in the PL in total.
He for me is likely to be a squad player he simply isn’t a starter. Given time he may well develop into a top talent but there again he might not. Only time will tell.
When Salah left us I can’t remember anyone saying it was a mistake . Likewise when Mason left us most were moaning about the transfer being a mistake.
If you are looking at this point in time then you are right it’s exactly the sort of transfer that justifies the model.

"He has a high ceiling" is just admitting he's not performed yet but you hope he will. We've been given 50m for a player that might improve but has been average for us. But if you're able to make that call without ever seeing him in training, why does Alonso need to see him in training?
I expect they need this money and sign someone who will improve us. Not someone who we hope will.

James is f**ked. What are we going to do? keep taking him out of games after a certain amount of minutes to protect him? keep leaving him out of crucial games when we need our best players available? James is now holding us back. We need to put sentimentality aside and face reality, we need a replacement.

I've said this before, but there's a lot of talk about how players like Cucurella and Enzo are 'locker room leaders' and yet we an ill disciplined crop who happily down tools when things go wrong. From what we see on the pitch it doesn't exactly show their leadership skills in a good light.

Alonso will definitely play a more possession based game I reckon. Under Maresca in particular our game was to absolutely not give up possession and it became slow and utterly predictable. No one took responsibility for playing progressive passes.
I’m hoping Alonso (if he plays a possession based style) will coach the players to not be afraid of losing possession or playing passes with any sort of risk attached and focus on getting the ball back quickly via a press if we do lose possession.

The problem is, even our so called best players are idiotic at times. Caicedo has been doing my head in this season. He's supposed to be one of our best players but will never be a top footballer until he cuts out the stupid fouls. He always looks like he is panicking. He's way too erratic as a footballer, nothing he does seems to be in control.
Palmer too. I'm getting tired of him overthinking things. He will do the hard work, then hold on to the ball without releasing. He makes the wrong choice too often.
Our bad players will always be bad, but it feels like our best players are regressing too. I wish there was no world cup, because I feel like they could all do with getting away from football for a bit. Just have a break and come back with a clear head or something.

Both of these are the same tackle, only one was given as a foul. I don't know how anybody thinks the one on Pedro isn't a foul. It's not shoulder to shoulder, he completely body checks him.

They will be f**ked under Alonso if we get him. He likes to play quicker football, which means more running. This lot, who get outrun by everybody, will probably down tools like Real Madrid's lot did.

We didn't play badly, I wouldn't say city deserved to beat us, but after their goal it looked like we gave up, just horrendous mentality. Hopefully Alonso comes in and instils a bit of bottle into these soft sh*ts.
