  1. We won. United can bitch and moan about bent refs but they were f**king lucky to still be playing with 10 men after Evans thought he was Jean Claude Van Damme. We can complain about winning ugly but that's what counts. Onto Wolves.
  2. We're good at possession, United aren't. We make them run at us and hold onto the ball I think we can beat them. During the 2nd half of the Community Shield we absolutely dominated them and both of us were half decent in a sense.
  3. Earlier in the season Carlo said he wasn't going to get into mind games with Fergie, saying that little things worry little minds.
  4. Jesus, this again? I am annoyed by this whole Cech thing. I hate the moronic argument that he hasn't been at his best since the injury. Yes! Let's just point to that when he also hasn't had a consistent backline in front of him for ages (Essien at CB and RB anyone?) but despite that injury he went 800 minutes without conceding a goal. But he isn't his best since he got injured. Let's forget the fact that he saved us when we lost Terry and had to play with ten men against Everton last season (But he hasn't been great since his injury!), or that Or when he kept us in the Pool game when Kuyt nearly scored after Ivan's equalizer. (BUT HE HASN'T BEEN THE SAME SINCE HIS INJURY!) Let's forget the fact that he's been great for ages which is so sad that some so called "fans" can't even see that! It's beyond irksome that our own fans slag players who have been great for us ages yet defend guys like Deco who has been awful for us. You know what, let's sell Lampard, he wasn't scoring goals like we expected and he's only scored two goals. The bar steward. It's incredibly fickle behavior, and people fail to see that since his injury Cech has been fine. There are several other clubs he could walk into! (BUT HE HASN'T BEEN GREAT SINCE HIS INJURY!!!) What people are expecting from him is to have another record breaking season like he did here. Jesus that was amazing and I would love Petr to have one of those again but it proves that people look at the past with that "those were the good days" feeling. Plus, it's a bit unreasonable. As for the high balls, the likes of Buffon, Casillas, and Cesar aren't any better at that aspect of the game. The only keeper who is really good at that is Brad Friedel.
  5. Why don't we actually wait and see instead of jumping to conclusions eh?
  6. DetroitBlue replied to MHedges's topic in Chelsea FC Rumours
That he wants to loan out a player who could add a lot to our attack means he values him highly? Oookkkaaay.
  7. We were also rumored to be signing Bruno Alves too. ;)
  8. Your source I presume?
  9. Love the City and dignified silence, I seem to recall their manager making a pathetic sales pitch and then complaining about us making the bid public.
  10. From another board: why is it so hard to believe that the captain of your team, who has never previously had his honour questioned, did what he did because he too was worried about the long term (and short term) future of the club. Many people say that he aint bigger than the club. Well neither is Peter Kenyon, Bruce Buck and most importantly neither is Roman. Our managerial situation has been bad. Our transfer situation whilst improving could be better. Most importantly our results (with the best team in the world) haven't been up to what we expected when we started this "revolution". JT has used the interest, and his player "power" to get some answers to questions many of us have asked. He wanted to know from the current custodians of "our" club that they had the best interest of our club at heart and in mind. Any move in negotiating is with our current custodians, not CFC. Notice the two players he picked to mention he wanted to stay are probably the most contravertial off the pitch but perhaps the best in their position on the pitch. He is talking football not marketing, sporting achievment not global reach. And he wants the best FOOTBALLERS to want and play for CFC. I cannot believe that some of our support are: A) so blinded by media that they cannot have faith in the words and actions of our leader who has put his head on the line many times. :( would rather stick to their clearly wrong POV and continue to crucify JT, than to just admit that the boy done good. There has been times in the past where I've been pissed of at fellow blues with casual racism and mindlessness but nothing has made me feel so much distance from other supporters as some of the quite frankly ignorant and ill informed views on here.
  11. Good old Gronkjaer. If anything, SWP was our Gronkjaer. *runs*
  12. http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0...1735265,00.html Maldini's career should be a good enough reason to like this guy.
  13. ROFLMFAO! Tell me, to you it seems that Terry isn't to be trusted, and whatever he says shouldn't be treated as "gospel". Yet you're quite happy to believe press reports by people who weren't privy to the conversations JT had with Chelsea. Presumably they should be treated as gospel? Here's a little something I'm going to let you in on in the world of journalism: It is very easy to get people to eat out of the palm of your hand. This entire saga confirms it even more and it can unfortunately make people who know better fall for it.
  14. Posts like these are why at times people shouldn't jump to conclusions or believe any of the sh*t that's been thrown about in the press. If Terry had any reason to leave, it was because of the direction of the club which at times has me wondering why we keep shooting ourselves in the foot. Some people will never be happy. EDIT: By the way, if you want to know why he didn't make a statement as quick as some people wanted it. "I know there has been comment that I should have made a statement earlier. "However, throughout this period there have been numerous discussions between myself, the owner and the Chelsea board and we all agreed that the timing of any statement would suit everyone involved in those talks, not any outside influences or agendas."
  15. At the moment? Julio Cesar. Overall, it's Cech. Even though he had the same sort of season that he had in 05-06. My personal favorites? Canizares and Cudicini (The reason I became a keeper).
  16. When I see stuff like that I just bring up the 6-0 match.
  17. Being pedantic but Burdisso (The player Lamps smashed into the hoardings) is Argentine. As for Vieira, even as a France fan I could never like the guy. Just something about him, even if he never were to play for Arsenal.
  18. I'll put it this way: I find Mascherano to be a more robust version of Fletcher and is good at man marking. Whenever I see Mascherano get pressured he doesn't do too well under it. Blocking passing lanes is an important aspect of the game and more so for a DM and is what hurts him in my opinion. Plus, it's more of taking care of problems before they become problems (If that makes sense). Mascherano doesn't do that and he ends up having to tackle where if he had a better reading of the game he wouldn't have to resort to a tackle.
  19. Regarding the Adebayor Drogba debate: I watch Ligue 1 from time to time, and I watched Monaco a lot because Ludovic Giuly was one of my favorite players to watch. Drogba was putting them away consistently since 2002 and 2003. Adebayor hasn't been able to do that in ages. He's nothing more than a better version of Kanu.
  20. Don't agree with those assessments. He is not good under pressure and he is never man marked like Maka was. His ball holding skills under pressure aren't as good and while he is probably a better tackler overall doesn't really block passing lanes or nip problems in the bud before he has to tackle. I'd say that even a player like Carrick is better at blocking passing lanes and better under pressure than Mascherano. The latter would obviously be better in tackling, physically more robust, and better at tracking a player like a terrier.
  21. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/...er-Beattie.html Press conference too was it not?
  22. One of the most overrated players of this decade. Is only good at switching play and nothing more.
  23. Comment from a Guardian blog: "Mark Hughes, the Manchester City manager, says John Terry needs "a change of scenery" and "a different challenge" after an entire career spent at a single club. Fair enough, you might think. It must be difficult to motivate yourself to battle for major trophies at Chelsea every single season. How Terry must yearn to experience getting knocked out of the FA Cup by some League One chancers, to end his seasons scuffling desperately for a Europa League place, and for a chance to watch at first hand the inner workings of a club which has over the years become football shorthand for comic failure..."
  24. It's still relevant regardless of how old it is at the moment.
