  1. From playing with David Villa to Craig Bellamy, Adebayor, and Tevez. What a downgrade.
  2. One, get out of the mindset of 4-4-2. Football has moved on from that. Earlier this season, I had to listen to a BBC radio stream for a Chelsea-QPR game. The commentators didn't have a clue as to what formation we were playing. The same for United at Old Trafford. Amusingly, England's best recent run came under Hoddle. Two, this foreigner argument is idiotic. Historically teams do worse when there's less foreigners around, like Italy in the 1970s. England didn't have much foreigners around back in the 70s yet couldn't qualify for the World Cup. Three, stop calling up crap like Heskey and Gareth Barry. Heskey is a joke and still surprises me that he hasn't been arrested for impersonating a professional footballer. Barry is average and isn't a holding mid whatsoever. Four, realize that the talent pool in England's a bit shallow at the moment. It's okay, happens to every country. And what amuses me a lot as well is the way English commentators spout on about Maka when the DM role has been around for ages.

  4. Cheers, hope things get better for Portsmouth. As for the celery, it's a Chelsea tradition, one that I quite like.
  5. I am a journalist. A journalist's job is to cover stories. We're not public relations specialists, we're not patriots, and we're not press agents. If we find out that a prominent person is doing illegal things, we're going to report it and publish it. If we find out that someone famous says insensitive things, we're going to report it. The Mail is a newspaper, not a public relations agency. They are doing their job. The first thing I was taught when I went into journalism was act like you're being recorded at all times. Paranoid? Maybe, but when your actions are under a tight watch, you need to be careful. If the Mail did anything illegal or unethical I'd disagree with it, but as far as we all know, Jacobs probably just came up to the Mail and said this and that and boom, you have a story. Also, as far as we know she isn't a reporter.
  6. To be fair a newspaper's job is to report, not act as public relations managers for the FA. As a journo myself if we learn of someone doing something questionable and it turns out to be true, we're going to report it. If anyone should be taking the blame, it's Treisman for being an idiot and not keeping it in his pants.
  7. Just proves that Sp*rs fans, like their club will screw it up.
  8. He's done it quite a bit actually. Most notably, Liverpool away.
  9. As much as I hate international football and would love it if we told FIFA to go do one, I don't begrudge Drogba. Still pissed at the Ghana manager for pushing Essien and at the previous Ivory Coast manager for saying we gave them a tired Drogba. All I can say is f**k you, we pay his wages, you don't.
  10. Unfortunately whoever's left managing us will be unfairly compared to Jose until they win something. Carlo included. I've gotten over Jose when he signed with Inter, but I will remember him. However, all this pining for him is like pining for an ex. There's a reason why you split in the first place. Also, if Carlo wins silverware, I'll be laughing given that there was a bit of an overreaction after a bad run of form on this site. Most notably the Blackburn game.
  11. Really glad that those deluded f**kers got what they deserved. Karma's a bitch ain't it Farca? Fabregas and Gallas injured, gets better and better.
  12. DetroitBlue replied to AAF's topic in General Chelsea FC
Mascherano's grossly overrated. Resorts to a lot of cheap fouls, resorts to the tackle when a simple interception will do, and doesn't solve problems before they become problems.
  13. DetroitBlue replied to AAF's topic in General Chelsea FC
Anyone see the pass for Drogs' 2nd goal? Hell of a pass from Mikel. Pirlo-like really.
  14. Carlo is nothing like Ranieri.
  15. Maybe I'd be more understanding if we had a full team, but we haven't and people aren't looking into that. People keep thinking the instant we have a bad run we should ditch the manager and don't bother to give suggestions. Ranieri would not have come close to the league were he given another season. Good manager but he has always been a runner up. And Grant? Seriously? Maybe if we were Portsmouth or something but we're a club that competes on the highest level. Thinking that we should give Avram Grant a full season is just foolish thinking. Scolari yes, Ancelotti, no. Name me another manager as young as he is that has the credentials he has. He must have done something right to stay at Milan for so long and win two CLs . Honestly, let's not forget that Ancelotti has beaten United, Arsenal (TWICE!), and Pool without much problem. We are in desperate need of stability and it's not on the manager for our current problems, it's also the team. We're old, and we're getting older. And before anyone brings up that Ancelotti likes older players, let's not forget that at Milan he was pretty much FORCED to work with them under Berlusconi and Galliani. Ancelotti's the best choice we have at the moment. We need stability, and it can help us bring in players that we need. Sometimes the problem isn't the driver, the problem is the car.
  16. On another note, the squad's older, and we've been leaking badly near the end of Jose's tenure. Short of bringing Bob Paisley or Ernst Happel back to life, Ancelotti's one of the better managers out there. Why not stick by him?
  17. Honest to God the impatience on here is disgusting.
  18. Chelsea over country. Internationals ruin the flow of the season (Two weeks in and BAM! International break), they're overpromoted, and after the Ivory Coast's manager's comments and Ghana's manager ruining Essien I'm kind of wishing internationals would go away. Plus, I'm sick and tired of the Chelsea guys getting stick yet other players keep getting free passes when they make worse f**k ups.
  19. Hmm, I liked Mourinho but sometimes he did things that drove me nuts. 1. He will shut up shop after his teams score the winning goal. Always. Aside from injuries in his last season with us, him not killing off games would lead to teams getting the equalizing goal or worse the winning goal. 2. He's not that great at tactics. No really, he isn't. Rafa would always have the better of him unless Drogba did something brilliant. Plus, there was the Newcastle game and the subs and of course, Huth up front. 3. He's a poor buyer in the market. Yes he did get Essien but he also had Del Horno, Boulharoz, Maniche, SWP, and of course Tal Ben Haim. His signings of Mancini and Quaresma prove it also. 4. He sometimes makes comments that should not be said. His untouchables comment still has me fuming. That is not the sort of thing you want to cause in the dressing room. He's a great guy to have on your side, but he takes himself too seriously. I will add that in a big pressure game between Jose or Carlo I'd take Carlo. And this was before he became Chelsea manager mind.
  20. Schweinsteiger is the definition of inconsistent, only seems to do well against Portugal.
  21. I don't think Tevez's wife would cheat on her because he probably couldn't woo someone with a paperbag on.
  22. I'm just going to keep this simple, but you gotta keep in mind that Gerrard, you know, admitted what he did. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england...ide/8167000.stm Let's also not forget Carragher's antics, or your fans for getting us banned my little friend. Now, let's clear some things up. 1. Bridge hasn't exactly said that he'd quit England. Anyone have a direct quote and a link to back it up? No? Then sit down. Anyone with a single brain cell knows that Bridge is unlikely to make the World Cup for a few reasons. It's an easy set-up. 2. The women in question is on record saying that she doesn't know where this stuff is coming from. Backed up by the notorious Max Clifford. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle7010169.ece So, let's also not forget the numerous apologies the papers have issued us but end up in the small section next to some insignificant ad. More so, Terry hasn't said a word about it, not even the injunction.
