  1. Don't fully trust Italy's defence, Bonucci is due to make a mistake. Don't think he's gone this long without one. Still think Italy will win though.
  2. Thinking of going to the final, assuming we make it, would make a good early birthday present.
  3. I was comparing them performance wise, nothing else. Why would I compare both of them as players?I would rather we let him go on a free knowing that we did all we could than see him leave for next to nothing and potentially get better somewhere else.
  4. I just don't want a Pirlo situation to happen with Essien. They got rid before giving Pirlo a chance. Getting £5m-7m for him and his wages off our books won't make a slight difference to our finances whatsoever. It's not very logical either considering things in football can change very quickly. Like I said before If he doesn't improve then he's still valuable backup (much needed considering the potential amount of games we could be playing), nothing of value will be lost by keeping him.
  5. Don't agree with all that and if what all you say is the case who in their right mind would give us a good amount for him? Would be better off keeping him and hoping he gets better, you don't lose anything by keeping him around for backup and also for helping the youngsters as well. Think he got confused with Maxi.
  6. Where were the centre backs? No where to be seen. You know it's bad when Lahm is the last man. Shame too cause Germany's midfield and attack is so good.
  7. Nice to see italy giving it a good go, that goal sums up Germany's defensive unit when put under actual attacking pressure.
  8. Why do people want to get rid of Essien? He's come back from a serious injury, he's going to look rusty as he hasn't even kicked a ball in like a year. Started off really poorly but you could see he got slightly better with each game. Not to mention we wouldn't get any good offers for him, probably no more than £10m-15m. And that's just being optimistic. Worst case scenario is that he doesn't get back to his old self but still makes a good backup/rotation player. If we sold him and he went back to being his old self (Obviously not the same but close to his old self) I would be gutted and that's something I can see happening.
  9. Disaapointed but not surprised. As always it's the midfield that's the problem, just not creative enough. Moutinho is only one man and he can't get it right all the time. Still, least we gave it a go.
  10. Giroud says he turned us down for Arsenal. Kind of glad if that's true.
  11. Agree with the United game and maybe Arsenal because of the assist, but it was Di Santo that was better in that game. In the Newcastle game he scored due to poor defending. Great that he was in the right place and all but it's nothing to get excited about. And again even in that game Di Santo was better than him.Guess we'll have to agree to disagree though.
  12. Wouldn't say I watched those games just to see Wigan (apart from towards the end of the season cause they played some good stuff), why would I put myself through that, I watched when they played teams like Newcastle, Spurs, Everton, Arsenal, Bolton, etc teams who have players that I generally have an interest in or just want to keep an eye on. After having that happening twice over the course of the season, sometimes even more, I have a pretty good idea on their players and their ability.Anyone with Cable/Sky+ that lets you record matches and an internet connection can watch as much football as they want to be honest. Probably not comprehendable to you cause you have much more responsibilities than your average football fan. I'm far from the sort who knows everything about every player in every league, just the EPL and Portuguese Liga is where the majority of my knowledge lies. Both of which are something that are discussed frequently here.
  13. Would like to see a Portugal (Obviously ) v Italy final but I don't really feel great about our chances against Spain. As long as we don't do a Germany and defend deep in our half then I'll be happy, although we generally give Spain a good go.
  14. Can see why they are interested, he would really strengthen them actually. But yeah, not going to lose any sleep over this. He's been poor for quite some years now, no idea what happened to him. Shame as he used to be class at Porto.
  15. Not really differences that gets me all excited about Moses. He requires a lot of work and why bother when we clearly have better players in our youngsters? I really doubt we would go anywhere near him if he wasn't English. Perhaps Kakuta should change his nationality. And he really wasn't, Di Santo was Wigan's best player for pretty much the whole season. Even towards the end of the season there were players like Beausejour and Figueroa that were better.
  16. Difference is Valencia was Wigan's best player when he was still there, neither Moses or N'Zogbia have ever been Wigan's best player.
  17. To me growing up Zola was Chelsea. He represented everything about the club perfectly. Even if we're basing it on only footballing talent I would still say Zola and by quite some distance too.
  18. I wouldn't worry about Bolton, Coyle was a manager who liked to stick with the same team regardless of how awful it is. This is a guy that picked Reo Coker and Muamba over Mark Davies regularly and even stuck Davies out on the wing instead of playing the likes of Ryo or Kakuta. He really is tactically inept. He had quite a bit of competition at Fulham too so and from what I've seen they rarely rotate their wingers. Even still he looked pretty good against Man United when he played the whole 90 mins.
  19. Actually quite strange as Malouda is normally their best player.
  20. The co-ownership system is actually a pretty smart system, not saying other leagues should implement it but it's a financially sound system with very little room for problems. I don't see how it's odd myself, Barca sort of do the same thing when they include buy back clauses in all players they sell. Also Italy doesn't have a reserve league, those 30 players (most of them youngsters I'm willing to bet) are hardly all going to get games so of course they will have to go out on loan.
  21. Them selling Higuain to us was based on Jose wanting Aguero, if he gets Aguero he will sell us Higuain. Was all over the Spanish press a while ago. However, we all know it's extremely unlikely Aguero will leave so this is all moot.
  22. I know, wasn't talking about Greece only. I'm not saying they are slow or get blown out for pace, what I'm saying is they are generally high up the pitch and can get caught out very easily with a good player with pace. Even happened a few times in this game but there was no end product. Portugal were quite clearly playing for a draw and when they did actually go for it they could quite easily have scored 2 goals, the German defence was all over the place.Individuals are great but as a unit there are clear weaknesses moreso than their midfield and strikers which is pretty much near prefect.
  23. Wish teams would actually play their normal game/be attacking when playing Germany because their defence is actually pretty average. Centre backs can't handle pace, Boateng is easily beaten one on one and Lahm is normally so far up the pitch, so that's their best defender taking out the picture for at least a few moments. Although it did end up being an entertaining match.
  24. To be honest we could quite easily get both if Chelsea wanted them badly enough.
  25. Should be looking at Miguel Lopes seeing as scouts are already there. Miles better than Joao Pereira.
