While tonight might have been the greatest thing I ever witnessed, the fun still isn't over.

I was already impressed that a team which once employed Michael Duberry could become continental champions, but now we have a shot at becoming world champions. Absolutely outrageous.

Actually I've been looking forward to this. The UEFA Super Cup would be a nice prize also.

I suppose our main threat would be the winners of the Copa Libertadores (still undecided). I'd be surprised if the CAF and AFC teams did much.

My missus is Japanese so I kind of hoped that we might get to play in the Toyota Cup in Yokohama. I rekon I stand an outside chance of getting tickets for that! But sods law it will be be that mad tournament with 7 clubs in Australia.

It would be amazing to win it, but it's not as big as the European Cup, we've got the biggest.

Super Cup would be nice as well, we've already got one of those, on a Friday night as well.

While the World Club Championship is not exactly held in high esteem, given that we are now Champions of Europe (I love saying that!), the World Club Championship is pretty all much all that is left for us. So if any motivation is required for a tournament that will likely be seen as a fixture congestion and jetlag threat to our league campaign, after checking the wiki entries for this tournament and its predecessor, the Toyota Cup, I would say this;

Only Man U have ever won the World Club title. So not only can we now give Villa, Forest, Liverpool the finger, we have the opportunity to be able to ask them if they have ever seen their teams crowned World Club Champions. That'd be motivation enough for me!

does anyone does the definite date for the Super Cup as Uefa's website is a bit behind and doesn't have the details up- know its the last year in Monaco before moving to Prague - will def be going to that one as missed Munich due to both points and work comittments

So I've been trying to see how this works. I've looked back at the last tourney and I see Barcelona went straight into the Semi finals? Am I right in thinking we will be doing the same?.

I'm thinking of taking the week off work to head over to my Second home to watch it but trying to figure out on which dates we will be playing!.

What I mean is I can't head to Japan until after the 9th Dec so I'm hoping we don't play no games until after that!

It would be great to watch the Chelsea play in the country I call my home from home!

Why can't it be early October when I'm in Japan then!

It runs between the 6th and 16th of December. So the final will be on the 16th. There is a 3rd place play off game. So I reckon the semi finals will be around 12, 13th.

And you are correct that us and the South American champions will enter in the semi finals. I don't know but assume that we will be kept apart too.

So far only 3 of the 7 teams to take part have qualified. So competitors and the venues are still unconfirmed but I'd expect that the semi's and final will all take place in Tokyo and Yokohama. Septic Bladder did make it a condition that one game must be played in a region affected by last years catastrophe. I'd expect that will be an earlier round game though.

I was/am planning on going but it has been complicated by the girlfriends plan to spend new year at home in Japan and that would mean that I'd have to go to Japan and back twice in a month. A lot of travelling and a small fortune in flights.

In case anyone is interested the semi final line up for the Libertadores 2012 is Universidad De Chile v Boca Juniors and Corinithians v Santos.

I would suggest the likelihood of us playing one of those teams at some stage in the tournament is very high - tasty!
