Utd out - There are now no excuses not to retain the FA Cup.
Would I rather lose like ManU, with many incredible scoring chances wasted, or lose like we did, with just a horrible performance? At least ManU can feel good about their play, and just blame bad luck.

Agreed. It is time to put the blame where it belongs -- on the players. They were disgraceful out there.

It wasnt a foul, Carlo looked like he had lead in his legs. I have seen worse given. Most of the time if you make contact with the keeper its a foul. It wouldn't have surprised anyone if the ref and given a free kick IMO. That is a hard one, since the Barnley striker is entitled to his space, and all he did was jump up to meet the ball. I cannot fault Bennett for not whistling a foul on that one.

Malouda was a non-factor again. SWP was horrible again. Essien was bad. Belletti was not much better. I could go on . . .

1-1 is my hopeful prediction.

Shut it People
I still want a draw today, you know.

I still want us to draw today, given the horrible possibility that the game on 12 April will be moved to Monday.

As I mentioned carp, footballers with fishy names....
Here is a stretch: Marlin (I know its Marlon) Harewood.

Go Roma go
I liked them a long time before that game, so I could not just dump them because of that admittedly dirty performance against us. They kind of have a history like Chelsea, with no Titles for a long, long period of time, until they won with Sven-Goran a few years ago. I also like Schalke04 for the same reasons, who have yet to win a Bundesliga title, I think.

Go Roma go
Pauly, I am sorry, but given that Lazio is my favourite Serie A team, I have to hate Roma, especially with that whiner Totti being their best player. I give them credit, though, for a great match against Real.

MOTM vs Olympiakos
Perhaps so, but seeing Maka control the midfield and to see him make great passes time after time in the offensive half of the field was a sight to behold.

2nd leg v Olimpiakos
thought the same thing. was hoping anelka would get the last 30 at least. i thought drogba was possibly our worst player tonight. he just looked totally out of the game. that ref was a joke also. how the hell he booked lamps ill never know. was superb to see lamps and ballack shut the critics up. for a pairing that supposedly would never work, 3 goals in 2 games aint bad. grants done something better than jose already... the bad side was having to listen to andy grays co-comentator who was gagging for the greeks to score. from the kick off all he went on about was a 1-1 result would take the greeks through. it took him to the 55th minute to give us any credit at all. what a cretin. i wouldnt mind a few more of them kind of games. 2 easy wins in 2. could get used to that. Drogba was horrible, and I am glad someone else saw that as well. Back to his 'first year at Chelsea' type of performance. Just pitiful. Everyone else, and I mean everyone else, was excellent against that grade school side a.k.a. Olympiakos.

MOTM vs Olympiakos
To say that you must not appreciate the intracasies (I know I misspelled this word, sorry) of the game, since Maka was having a Master Class performance out there yesterday. Ballack was excellent, but Maka was right up there with him.

MOTM vs Olympiakos
My thoughts exactly.

Go Roma go
I thought Kaladze played well, but that keeper for Milan, Kalac, has the slowest reflexes that I have ever seen in a top-tier team. It is a joke that he is out there, given his inability to move from the spot where he is currently situated. I know he is big and all, but come on!

Robben's 'goal' v Getafe
Nasty injury. Reminded me of his injury against Blackburn, was it Makoena who did it to him back then?
-
Robben's 'goal' v Getafe
I only saw it once and quickly at that, and I cannot understand how Robben was offsides. It looks like there are 4 Getafe players between him and the goal. Did I miss something?

Has Cech saved a penalty yet ?
I agree completely. Timing is the most important thing in saving a penalty, and Cech does not wait long enough. Kind of like a ski jumper who has to time it perfectly off the ski jump -- a smidgen too early and he has a bad jump, a smidgen too late and he has a bad jump. Cech telegraphs his move about 1/2 second too early, and he should work on that during practice. It must be very difficult to time your move correctly, since you have to gauge the run-up by the penalty-taker, but good penalty stoppers (Reina, Lehmann) seem to do it with no problem at all. They must be born with that innate talent.

Referee?
I did see the replay of Bridge's handball on Sky Sports News last night, and I must admit it was a clear-cut decision in my book.

a question for all you Grant supporters...
If it took this loss to bring Kenn back to the forum, well, then maybe it was worth it.

a question for all you Grant supporters...
I'm with Qaz on this one, since I too did not watch the match (thankfully!). It is first and foremost the players' fault, and shame on them, given the supposedly passionless performance that they put on today.

Bridgey beats Cashley to the starting spot at Wembley
No three points at stake today, just a trophy.

It had to happen sooner or later
In my view, it happened much later than I ever expected. What's that, you say? I just saw a television show that included a very recent interview with Ronny, whereby HIS TEETH HAVE BEEN FIXED (ALL CAPS, LIKELY). Why it took him so long to fix his horrible grill is beyond me, but he finally decided to do it. Could this mean that he will be playing in West London next season?

Is Malouda a FLOP yet?
No offense, Valim, but you really need to study your English some more. It gives me a headache trying to translate your Serb-English.

match thread -- Olympiacos v. Chelsea -- 1st leg (19-2-08)
I went there earlier, but it was quiet. I will go there again now. Sounds like Jose Mourinho would have been very happy with our style of play today.
