  1. I don't get the point of giving him a new contract. I mean he's doing a decent job, but if anyone who's doing decent gets an extension, you could find another 5-6 players. Maybe if missing something, could be there's a rich club lurking in the background for a 100M bid for him 🤫, and the owners decided to raise the stake by giving him a new deal
  2. They got rid of their Number 1 keeper for Kepa, should be an easy win for us 🥳
  3. I think it's a matter of acceptance and get on with the job in hand, this is the same reason we don't go get a Conte or Jose. These managers ( in this case Enzo the coach) knew what they are in for, it's no point put extra pressure on themselves to win 5 in a row or do something extraordinary.
  4. Lack of clinical strikers, a defence always going to leak a goal, and unable to break low blocks. They only had one real goal threat in Eze, and when it mattered nobody got near him and basically a free shot, and he didn't waste it. Jackson is improving, but on any given day he's going to miss a couple of easy chances, doubt it will change soon. We have a pool of attacking players, but too many of them are actually causing problems comes to selection, and they need time to play together to build the partnership. In the midfield we are actually very thin, you get pass Caicedo there aren't that much covering.
  5. Watched a 10 minutes highlight earlier, those saints were killing themselves with passing from the back. They could have used a DM who could pass and keep the ball, wonder when will they start taking notice. It's the nature of loaning players, unless you are a level above of the team, it's hard for the manager to make those big decisions to drop established contracted club players .
  6. That's a possiblity. But as a buyer, if these SD and owners are serious about getting a better striker, leaving it to the last day and betting on the other side running out of options is certainly not very sincere or serious. Maybe they will try again and Osimhen maybe a lot more accommodating, or he will may take other options and never deal with CFC again. We may have dodged a bullet, but we all know the current quality of the strikers at disposal.
  7. Read somewhere he's currently injured , so probably to get to know the medical department at Everton before he kicks a ball. Hope he gets to play regularly and establish himself, but Everton it's in dire shape, and needs a lot help to win games. He could end up having a year like Gilmour at Norwich if he gets a slow start.
  8. Not sure how serious these guys about signing Osimhen. If they were, leaving it to the last day certainly didn't give us much leverage to work with. My guess is it's always a hopeful signing, just hope his Saudi deal collapse, and he has to accept the low ball offer. The same could be said about the fire sale, sure they got rid of Sterling for a year, but should have done a lot more before the deadline day.
  9. If Sterling has a good season, Arsenal will likely to win the league or a major trophy. There's also no guarantee Arsenal will buy him either. If he's sh1t, he will come back with his values down even further. Basically it's a lose-lose situation for Chelsea. The positive is we saved some money on his salary, which will go into the budget of the bomb squad.
  10. I doubt any of these players will terminate their contracts and let the owners get away with a big pay out. They are footballers who wants to play, but they aren't going back to a day job working 8-5. We will end up with an unused team that's capable of surviving relegation battle in the league. Maresca probably over did his work for the owners. Imagine by December we have a bad injury toll, is he going to risk with under 18s or call upon Chalobah or Sterling? We actually get lots of games to play, got be careful when you slam the door on players' face, knowing your job could depend on them one day
  11. Are we there yet? 😎 I wonder who's going to be told to go to bomb squad when Sancho is signed in the 11th hour.
  12. Similar to the Oscar situation almost a decade ago, take the offer and your future generations are guaranteed to live an above luxury life, at the price of your football career and legacy. I hope he takes it, unless he's really determined to make a name of himself in the EPL.
  13. He's not going to sign a different tune from the owners, I get he's doing what he could to convince those players to move on. We will need quite a bit of luck to offload them, United or Arsenal aren't there to bail us out. We aren't far away from calling on the 'bomb' squad players if a few players go down injured, so that's something he has to deal with in coming months.
  14. Apart from the money side of it ( until we get Sterling off our book), Sterling is a better option than Mudryk for now, and the foreseeable future. I just don't think we could call Mudryk a player with great potential, at his age his game should be a lot more accomplished. He's a good athlete, that's about it, I'm afraid. A loan with an exit strategy is the best way for all parties, although there will be some read faces if we get rid off Mudryk and tell Sterling he still has a future at the club.
  15. Got through it, otherwise not much positives to talk about. It's a long season, so not much point going overboard about a single result. In terms of the quality of the squad, I think we need a number 1 GK and a striker if we are to challenge something serious this year
  16. That's really unfortunate if he's out for a few weeks, especially it's not an injury resulted from a game. Against better teams, we aren't going to get away the midfield last weekend. We have midfielders, but not many options playing his role.
  17. Certainly don't want risk key players for this game, happy to take a 1:1 and move on.
  18. Maybe there's a clear boundary on what he's responsible and not. He's a coach, so just coach the 25 players on rosters and nothing else. The 'bomb' squad thing is getting ugly, but again that may not even be under his jurisdiction. Most of the mess are created by people above him, he's hired as coach, so stick with that day job.
  19. Agreed, he's great with the Dortumound, looked average when he played anywhere else. It's not hard to find better players than Mudryk, I dare to say even Iwobi offers more. We certainly don't need to spend big on Sancho to find a better player than Mudryk. But again, strange things have happened, and Sancho could easily accept a 7 year deal given his age🤔
  20. What's the odds the owners active his release clause next season after he scored 20 goals this season? 😎 Was our 35M+ bid for 50% of him or both legs?
  21. My Maths is a bit fuzzy, so even if Porto pay the next 2 installments, it still doesn't add up to 100% by the look of it. Is this even legal, any future transfer needs to be negotiated with 2 selling clubs instead of one? Anyway, sounds like we got away with one, or is he the next real deal now he's 50% sold to another club?
  22. Yes, far more logical and realistic than we spend money ( that can't be spread over 7 years) and above market salary on Osimhen. Who knows what's the next move is, I'm sure there are plenty of 16 year old wonder kid strikers out there.
  23. Not part of the plan, but why bother playing in pre-season and only addressed this before kick off? With only a week so left in the window, how are they going to offload him? The general feeling is he wants to stay in London, so that leaves very little options for a transfer. He's not in the England setup and not that keen to get back it in, nothing stops him from sitting out the remainder of his contract. He's a senior figure in this young team, again the kids are watching and looking forward to when they hit late 20s
  24. Think your answered yourself at the end. He's hired as a coach, just train players and not much more. The predecessors were managers, who had their say and all got kicked . It probably suits him for now, just stay out of the 'politics' side of CFC
  25. Pretty much that, record fees are owner's pick. One or two games in the name of rotation or rest could be done, but as soon as they are available they will be picked. You need a brave manager to go against the hierarchy to drop star players, do I see that in Maresca so far? I don't. But there's always the injury factor, which could help in some cases
