It may be that Danny's head has now gone given he was within hours of joining Brendan at Liverpool only for it to fall through when Remy had his medical issues with us. That and no new deal seems to be forthcoming with him. Given the amounts spent in the summer I would prefer not another huge money signing, and Falcao does seem rather unrealistic at the moment. Some of the suggestions so far have been good, players that have different reasons to want out of their current clubs. Bent, Carroll, Dzeko, Hunteelar, etc. Whoever ends up being the best option to give us another option aside from nando up top; ideally for me someone who could play alongside him as well. Would be Dzeko followed by Caroll for me for that reason. I do not see Torres leaving in January so one striker out and good alternative to Nando in would be good, along with another option for the deep midfield position; given Lamps also seems set for an exit in 2013. Felliani would be my first choice but that seems unlike, not sure who else we could get. If we decided to move Marin on (rather harshly to label him a sick note after not even half a season with us) then Wilian would be a good option meaning one of our front three would get a break regularly and avoid burnout.

Like the idea of resting 2 of the 3 regulars behind Torres. Marin should be ready for a start, if he tires out he can be replaced in the second half, Moses deserves another start anyways. Resting Torres ahead of Juve may not be a bad idea as well.

Should also be said both Oscar and Mata had players in better positions than themselves they could have passed too rather than shot. Had they done so likely 3-0 at HT and game over.

How about rather than casting aside we bring in an option who is different too him and can play alongside him? Meaning, for example, some games Torres can have a break, others when we are chasing a result we can take off a Mikel or Ramires, or one of the attacking 3 and go 4-1-3-2 or 4-2-2-2?

Good question, if I had the answer to it I would be on a nice contract working for the club! I would expect Moses to be used at some point, most likely for Oscar again. We may see Marin as well. Now if only we had a good CF option to use when Torres is not at the races...
