From what I've read from various links over the past week is that he is simply a package deal connected to Eden and nothing more. He's meant to be an ok player but not really anywhere near the same level of his brother, and there is nothing to suggest that he will stand out from the crowd in a special kind of way, even though he has represented his country at youth levels. However football is obviously in his blood so here's hoping that he's a late bloomer compared to Eden (I think Eden was already LIlle's best/one of the best players at 19, and then of course at 20 and 21 he was officially the best player in the French league).

And did anyone notice that Ryan Bertrand is on our bench apparently?? Isn't he meant to be at the olympics???

Kitierkatba makes some good points tbh. Our American fan base would definitely increase. He is a quality player (and I don't think anyone can really dispute this). He wants to move. He is in the last year of his contract so the fee would likely be low-ish. Were it not for the fact that he would be thirty before the start of the season I would be screaming for his signature. Alas, he is that old and his signing would not help with bringing through youth (it is hard enough for them already), + I'm not really sure where he would fit into the team.... I don't think he would work in a deep role, and our central and left sided attacking positions are pretty much spoken for. But I'm a big fan and if we signed him (for the right price) I would be pretty happy! And is this actually a rumour or just something that has been suggested? I've not heard anything.

I think he did better than just "Ok" at Dijon mate. I know at one stage he was on the front of their website, similar to how Drogba is head of Shanghai Shenhua. He did very well there. I think people have every right to still be talking to him, although the more signings we make in that area of the pitch the more his role at the club is put in jeopardy.

To be honest, after everything that has happened over the years and the way in which everything was against us this campaign, to win this one has made this champions league feel so much better!

I think that the three current candidates are Ivan, Luiz and Cahill. I leave Cech out of that list because, although he has all the qualities in his personality, I too don't like keeper's as captain. I know there are good real life examples of this (Casillas, Buffon) but for me the captain needs to have a large influence across the pitch and keepers are restrained to the goal. They can't talk to the ref, settle disputes at the other end of the pitch, and they cannot lead the team as well as an outfield player can. So (sadly) discounting Cech, my first choice would be Ivan. He has been here for ages (not required but more like a bonus), is highly respected, loud on the pitch and leads by example. Cahill reminds me so much of Terry, and Luiz is possibly, after JT, our most passionate player. I would be happy with any of them but I edge towards Ivan.

Is Anelka still the player manager there??? If so does that mean Drogba will be answering to Anelka ha? Should be the other way around.
