2012/2013 Pre-season

Recommended Posts

Thought it would be wise to start a thread on this to discuss all the games, post pics/videos and stuff regarding our pre season.

Some of the first team started training today and judging by pictures (still not official though) Hazard went with 17, Marin with 21 and De Bruyne with nr 14.

American tour dates:

18th of July v Seattle Sounders

22nd of July v PSG

25th of July v MLS Allstars

28th of July v AC Milan

Should be a good pre season and as someone posted before we have a game v Brighton on the 4th of August.

Anyone else excited? just seeing the players train have done it for me haha

Excellent idea. I 'm already looking forward to the predictable worried posts when we don't do very well in the warming up matches, and the equally predictable replies that those matches mean f**k all and it's about building fitness and gelling as a team.

Oh please let it start!

No David Luiz in the olympic Brazil squad so im guessing we'll see him at the American tour!

Fernando Duarte â€@Fernando_Duarte

Surprises then: No David Luiz or Dani Alves. Brazil's wild cards will be Real Madrid's Marcelo, Chelsea's Hulk and Milan's Thiago Silva

Not sure why that journo says Chelseas Hulk, does he know something we dont?

The seattle game is 8 hours behind UK Time. All the east coast ones are -5. So most games will be late in the UK

In that case, we're looking at...

Seattle - Thursday 19th - 2.30am (GMT)

PSG - Sunday 22nd - Midnight (GMT)

MLS Allstars - Thursday 26th - 1.30am (GMT)

AC Milan - Saturday 28th - 11pm (GMT)

I've used Chelsea in America to source kick off times http://www.chelseain....com/web/events

Going to be some weary eyed folk at work with those midweek games.

Not gonna be many from Europe in MatchChat, but I'll do my best to be there.

Chelsea Megastore Away Shirt

Wiki states it starts at 21:30 PDT. That would be 5:30 GMT, no?

Ah, Chelsea in America have it down as a 6.30pm ko. I guess they have put all the info in there events calendar (See previous post for a link) as EST, maybe? That would make sense. Anyway, 5.30am - Up early to watch it before work then :indifferent0018: .

EDIT: Scratch that. Seattle Sounders official website has it as a 6.30pm ko http://www.soundersfc.com/Matchday/Schedule.aspx

It wouldn't be the first time wiki has the wrong information.

Won't be a bad PSG team we face haha

They have Zlatan. Shouldn't be too hard to beat.

Actually, when I look at PSG I see lots of big names, but that's it. It's hollow.

If they played in any other league I would say that they won't win the title. I would be sure of it.

They'll also have Thiago Silva, who is in my opinion among the best centre backs in the world today.

Here's who we will be seeing (and not seeing) on the USA trip. From WAGNH:

25 players departed today, with 5 more looking to join up somewhere in the middle. These five - Ashley Cole, Florent Malouda, Raul Meireles, John Terry, Fernando Torres - were all involved in Euro 2012, so the extra rest is more than warranted. All three new signings are on board and they are joined by several young faces including Nathaniel Chalobah, who is still just 17. Four first teamers - Ryan Bertrand, Juan Mata, Oriol Romeu, Daniel Sturridge - do miss due to their upcoming Olympic involvement.

The full roster:

Goalkeepers: Petr Cech, Ross Turnbull, Hilario, Jamal Blackman

Defenders: Gary Cahill, Nathaniel Chalobah, Paulo Ferreira, Sam Hutchinson,Branislav Ivanovic, Todd Kane, David Luiz

Midfielders: Kevin De Bruyne, Michael Essien, Frank Lampard, Josh McEachran, John Obi Mikel, Ramires, George Saville

Attackers: Patrick Bamford, Yossi Benayoun, Eden Hazard, Gael Kakuta,Romelu Lukaku, Marko Marin, Lucas Piazon

Even with Studge not going on Tour and Nando not getting there until later, I definitely think we'll sign a striker this summer - going on tour with only two recognised strikers, both of them less than 20 years old is something to look at.

Excited for this tour, it has been SO LONG since we've seen any football...!
