I can't believe Sky are even debating it, but today Andy Gray (twat) and Chris Sutton (double twat) have said yesterday's second goal could well go, and maybe should go to Ballack. WTF?! It was ON target and if thats the case, regardless of a deflection - the goal is given to the shooter. Its not like Ballack stuck out his back to score, it smacked him on the way past. We'll never know if Frank's shot would have gone in without it, but it was on target for sure.

FFS, wonder if all this would happen if it were the Starfish of scumville and it took a nick off Alonso... Probably not. Paranoid? Not really, just a bit pissed off certain parts of the media are hinting the goal should be taken off Frank.

What about two of West Brom's goals, major deflections that if they hadn't of occured - they wouldn't have gone in. Have they been given as own goals? Are the media trying to take the goals away from them?

Frank's goal, get over it.

/rant.

:) the wrath of gem, if andy gray knew you he wouldnt even mention it in case you stalked him and beat the crap out of him. and what would sutton know about scoring goals at the bridge anyway, useless git.

Does it matter who scored the team won or is he on a 500000 bonus it was funny he run one way and every one else run after Frank :)

i was funny to see him try and claim it. tread carefully aliboy66, gem will eat you alive if you dare say anything bad about her beloved frank.

no doubt the numpties on the dubious goals committee will come to the rescue...it's so pointless...bunch of train spotters in disguise...never forget the season when peter crouch's goal for liverpool was given even though it took a massive deflection and then the keeper punched it into his own net...But joe cole's, which was on target and took a minor deflection, was awarded as an own goal

Exactly, if they give that one to Ballack then its just another tick in the box to how pathetic the Premier League can be now-a-days.

deflection, no deflection it was going in, i've always been a firm believer in the "shooter's goal" reasoning

Frank's goal without question. Not only did he hit the shot on target but his overall performance deserved the goal. My understanding is that the club decide who the goal goes to and not the dubious com. because it was not an own goal...I am sure the club will do the right thing and give it to Frank.

Hope this annoys Andy Gray....good shout about not taking any notice of what Sutton says because he can't know much about scoring goals at the Bridge....fantastic!!!

:D

I'm just glad it hit the back of the net and we took the three points.

Having said that, i'll add one more comment.

Frank Lampard - CHELSEA LEGEND ! :D

I think Gray has heard about Gem and Frank and was saying it to wind Gem up. Think it may have worked.

No doubt, Franks goal.

Its probably the same people who are always harping about Frank being the king of the deflected goal. Idiots the lot of them

Its pathetic because Ballack had nothing to do with it. Maybe it was just an excuse to talk about it further, because it was one of those amazing moments that you cant watch the highlights of enough

This is a joke. Ballack knew nothing about it. He looked as if he was trying (and as was his usual in that game, failing) to get out of the way of it. It was such a trifling deflection, too. Frank's goal all the way. He would have scored it with or without the deflection.

dubious goals committe only decide possible own goals, this one is down to the club itself.

yea that's true

i can't really see chelsea taking the goal away from lampard. given the choice which would you rather remember the goal as:

milestone 400th game for the club, scoring the winning goal in a desperate scramble after a terrible team performance which would have resulted in the manager losing his job and being knocked out of the title race by the worst team in the league. possibly a turning point in the season. everyone running to celebrate together with the manager as a show of defiance to the doubters and critics

or some pathetic attempt to claim a deflection off your arse as your own goal. running off by yourself pointing, "it hit me, it hit me". what a w**ker!!

i actually thought it was impossible for ballack to go down in my estimation but evidently not

As Dorset suggested in his "Baiting Abramovich" post, Frank should just give it to Stevie G....That way, we'll get better publicity for it and journos may actually give Chelsea some credit for our heroic comeback!

Thankfully, Scolari has already said in an interview on the Official Site that the goal has been awarded to Frank as a gift for his 400 matches for Chelsea and his captain's performance in the stirring comeback. Although the reasoning is a bit strange, all that matters is that it was Lamps' goal.

Cheers,

Butch
