I'm pretty excited about the matches this week.

First up, Jose and Inter in line to stuff it up Man U and Roma to pour more oil on the troubled waters at Arsenal.

and tomorrow the prospect of Madrid and Robben showing Liverpool up for the heap of crap they really are.

(not to mention, of course, the super blues brishing aside the tinkerman)

This is when the CL really comes alive.

Some good games coming up but as far as I've heard Robben is injured again so maybe the Pool luck is coming through in the CL again.

I'll be supporting all the English clubs, would rather see all 4 of us trounce the opposition this week, proof once and for all that our league is by far the deepest and strongest on the planet.

Don't think he is Chippy. He played the second half against Betis on Saturday, so unless he picked up a knock then I'd expect him to be playing.

Yep you're dead right mate,

I only saw a headline and read it quick..must be so used to Arjen being injured it looked like he was out.

Heres what I saw ::ChELSeAFaN::

Former Chelsea winger Arjen Robben out for Liverpool revenge with Madrid

I just saw Robben out and shook my head remembering how it used to feel when he played for us and I read that.

Of course first & foremost I want us to beat Juventus, but it would be a great double whammy if Madrid knock Liverpool out.

Lets hope Robben turns up - he didn't have many (any?) good games against that lot when he played for us.

i saw that and remembered the time robben decided he couldnt be arsed playing against liverpool after taking a little kick during the game we had a massive injury problem. i then thought other things which arent really printable.

Have to say I'm not in the least bit interested about all the 'English' teams going through.

1. I hate them the rest of the year, so can't suddenly wish them well when it comes to Europe.

2. Teams like the Arse don't even have any english players in their starting 11, so aside from the league in which they play, there's nothing 'english' about them.

Frankly, i hope they all get humiliated and we triumph.

And yes, I know it's petty, but it is also honest.

I'm with you Tim! No way I'm suddenly going to cheer on a team in red, so let's be petty together.

My wish would be for us to be the ONLY English team going through to the next round. And ok, everyone's entitled to their opinions, but I find it very difficult to understand anyone who feels differently. To paraphrase the old song:

f**k 'em all, f**k 'em all

United, The Arse, Liverp**l

I am salivating for some european play, the group stage was so boring.

Not sure if there is a prediction thread somewhere else so here are mine:

Atletico - Porto

Lyon - Barcelona

Arsenal - Roma

Inter - Manu

Madrid - Ratmunchers

Chelsea - Juve

Villareal - Panathinaikos

Sporting - Bayern

I'm not English so I have no hard feelings about pulling for the Scouse, ManUre and the Gooners to lose! Red Nose sucks, Fatboy Rafa sucks, and Arsenal fans suck . . . so there you go. No way I can cheer for those clubs.

I'll have a go.

Atletico - Porto

Lyon - Barcelona

Arsenal - Roma

Inter - Manu

Madrid - Ratmunchers

Chelsea - Juve

Villareal - Panathinaikos

Sporting - Bayern

I have a sneaking suspicion that Liverpool will turn Madrid over. Arsenal will really struggle to get past Roma who are a lot better than people are giving them credit for. Inter v. Man U will be tight and I just hope Inter can win. We will cruise past Juve.

Heres what I recon scores in the first legs and winners outright in bold

Atletico 0-0 Porto

Lyon 1-1 Barcelona

Arsenal 1-0 Roma

Inter 2-1 Manu

Madrid 2- 1 Ratmunchers

Chelsea 2-0 Juve

Villareal 3-0 Panathinaikos

Sporting 1-1 Bayern

cant say it any better than that ;)

For some reason I am way more pumped about the first round this year, probably because of these marquee matchups.

I couldnt say the scores, but I will take a shot at predicting who goes through

Atletico - Porto

Lyon - Barcelona - watching Barca at the weekend, and seeing how they reacted to being down, I think Lyon have a shot if they get an early goal

Arsenal - Roma - Wenger's just desserts for building such an imbalanced team. Roma's midfield to run them over

Inter - Manu - will be an epic tie, whichever way it goes. I think Adriano will have a belter

Madrid - Ratmunchers FC - Hopefully the lucky bar stewards dont have another miracle/pair of red cards up their sleeve

Chelsea - Juve - I hope

Villareal - Panathinaikos - another possible upset, maybe

Sporting - Bayern

Atletico - Porto 1-1 draw

Lyon - Barcelona

Arsenal - Roma

Inter - Manu

Madrid - Liverpool

Chelsea - Juve

Villareal - Panathinaikos 0-0 draw

Sporting - Bayern

Bayern Munchen have lost something like 3 or 4 straight with a Limburger cheese like defense. Not the kind of form you want going into Champions League. I think they're going to crash out.

No suprise there ;)

About Scousers (in particular) in Europe? Too right. Thank God they're not playing tonight, meaning we'll be spared another one of those "special European nights with Liversh*te on ITV".

45 minutes of utter crap, how the hell are they 9 points clear ?

It's a sad day when Park Ji-Sung dives acrobatically. Now there's not a shred of goodness left in that team...

HT at all four matches. I cant believe Lyon are ahead against Barca, and it sounds like Benzema hit the post as well

Also, anyone watching Inter-MUFC, Toldo is on the bench, right? Livescore has him having gotten a yellow before the half. Strange

Is the first leg at Binfield or in Madrid? And I have to agree: to be the only English team to advance would be amazing
