Frank Arnesen

Yer the newspaper in England is very hard to him i think its kind of sad that they love to hate him!

Not sure what players he is actually responsible for at Chelsea to be honest. I don't really see a great return on our £8m in the 4 years he's been here, well not yet anyway.

I think Arnsen has done a good job, or at least there are signs that he is getting to the stage where he has done a good job. The problem he has is that he is charge of an area that we, as a club, have bneglected for decades yet people seem to expect him to turn that round in atoo short a space of time and deliver us the next Messi.

We have a much stronger set of youth players now then we have had in a long time and we are now seeing youngsters like Stoch, Mancienne, Kakuta and Di Santo breaking into the first team squad. Nobody knows how little or much Arnsesn was involved in each of these individual players however at the very least what he has been involved in is the creation of a far better quality youth system which has provided the framework for these players to develop in.

The £8m thing is not Arnsesen's fault and he shouldn't be judges with that price tag as a factor. He should be judged by how well, or badly, you think our youth development programme is developing and the quality of the players in it. For me he has taken somethjing that was, at best, an after thought before and it is now finally looking capable of producing first team players.

He is also rumoured to have been involved in the identification of Mikel and Kalou although the cluib have never formally stated this.

he had a hell of a lot of work to do to be fair, our youth development was pathetic until roman put some money into it. we could hardly expect players to suddenyl start appearing in the first team, it was always going to take time. and the youth team he helped put together did get us to our first youth cup final in decades, so hopefully they are the ones that will make the break through.

Don't know really anything about the guy and how much he have contributed. I have a norwegian friend who is a Spuds fan and he was always praising the guy until the moment we snatched him from them...

I think the guy is smart and has a nose for scouting. I don't know if DiSanto, Kakuta, Stoch and these guys are his findings but they have a bright future anyway.

I have not been overly impressed with his record. During his time at the club we have not seen one player break into the first team, not one.

This is all especially galling when at the weekend Man U blood Macheda, a 17 year old, and he looks immediate class, all touch and poise and scores a vital - and quite brilliant - goal. Add to him the emergence of Evans, Wellbeck and Da Silva all of whom have slotted into their first team as though veterans and it is clear that have great players of the future. Arsene Wenger has always managed to unearth stars of the future. Aston Villa are packed with players who have come through their reserves. Even the scum have managed to have a youngster score a senior league goal.

I am not sure we can say the same thing. Sinclair deceives to flatter. Stoch looked good for 5 minutes but we haven't seen him since. Di Santo does not look like he'll make the grade any time soon (or hiot a barn door with a banjo. The new Crespo? My arse!). It remains to be seen whether Kakauta can recover from his terrible injury and besides our flames of excitement about his prospects are fanned by posters on this site who have seen him play for the reserves, he has never come into the first team. Only Mancienne looks as though he will become a first team regular. This really is a poor state of affairs for a man that is supposedly the greatest scout in the world.

Now we could put this down managers not willing to take a risk with our youngsters. We do tend to field our "strongest" line up even in cup games against lower league opposition. However, we have had four very different managers none of whom have seen it fit to include any of our youngsters and they can't all be wrong.

.What can Arnesen do if the managers don't want to play youth?

At the moment, the most stupid career decision a 15 year old footballer can make is to come to chelsea. I think instead of spending all this money on youth they should just shut the academy down.

Plus macheda has scored only one goal. Let's not haste to make judgements. Remember how Malouda was for us on his debut?
