Football games on computers

Recommended Posts

They mean bo110x, please can people stop stating that different players would be good / should be good / are better than they seem because they are good in a f*kin football game. Unfortunately Chelsea play in a real league in a real world.

I'm just a bit concerned that all summer we're going to get the usual crap from the press back-up by more crap from people that have no idea what a player is like apart from what they've seen on a computer game.

First of all, I'd like to say that I don't play the football manager games, and only casually play Fifa online where I'll pick either Chelsea or Cheltenham and know nothing about the unknown players who are good on there.

But in the same respect, I don't think it'd be right to completely disregard the players stats etc on some of these games, especially in the very deep ones ones like Football Manager - just because it's so well researched, and there's a good chance that the scouts they use will know far more than anyone who posts in this forum.

You do know that Everton for example are known to use the Football Manager database to look for players, don't you? They pay extra to get exclusive early rights...

I think that goes without saying, Barn.

I mean, on PES, Moritz Volz captained my team to Champions League victory.

At the moment, I have Hasselbaink and a made-up South African guy leading the lines. :P

I never really got into FM. FA Premier League Manager 2002 was one hell of a game though. Rati Aleksidze led my Blues team to Uefa Cup victory. :P

No professional scouts are used when making FM 09. They use people like you and me- in fact a couple of us were involved in scouting Australian teams players. We were rewarded with a copy of the game as payment!

What happens is they get various people to make reports on players, then they are averaged and indexed according to league/country etc. They also enlist public scouting networks.

In the Israeli version Milan Baros is a £100m star buy.

Barn is spot on though - if we bought players based on football game ratings we would end up with a team Kevin Keegan would be proud of.

I agree, but I'm sure it's happened in the past - it would explain the likes of Kezman...

  • 2 weeks later...

Seriously, i just signed Sergio Aguero for 41 million and he's on 120k a week on Football Manager. First game against Stoke he gets injured for 7 months.

Someone call Kenyon too cancel the deal asap.

Aguero has been brilliant for me in FM, as has Rossi.

Much as I love Football Manager, it does have a few glitches - the main one for me at the moment, midfielder Veloso is complaining about not getting enough games, but he's laid up with a broken leg!
