Sinclair to Wigan

Featured Replies

Good for him. I dont think he'd have come anywhere near the Chelsea first team anyway. Does all this really point to us getting a marquee player finally.

Great news! One last chance for Sinclair to show that he might have a future at Chelsea. Very important season for both Di Santo and Sinclair.

I agree, I hope they both get a bit of playing time, at least he'll be in the top division so lets see if he can cut it with the big boys!

really wish him well, he has the pace and bags of potential, time to start fulfilling it.

SINCLAIR WIGAN LOAN

Posted on: Thu 06 Aug 2009

Scott Sinclair has today joined Wigan Athletic on loan until the end of the season.

The winger, 20, spent half of last season with Birmingham City, helping them to Premier League promotion after a low key start to the campaign here with the Blues, where he made four appearances.

The England Under 19 international arrived at Chelsea in 2005 from Bristol Rovers, aged just 16, and having already made a league debut for the Pirates.

A Chelsea debut came in early 2007, and was followed by a loan spell at Plymouth Argyle, where he scored one of the FA Cup's goals of the season, a mazy solo effort against Barnet.

His first Chelsea goal came against Hull in the Carling Cup that September, before further temporary spells in that campaign away from Stamford Bridge at QPR, Charlton and Crystal Palace.

Scott travelled with the squad on this summer's US Tour, playing 45 minutes in games against Seattle Sounders and Club America, and now links up with Roberto Martinez's side for his first top flight loan.

Yeah, we don't want any youngsters in the squad learning from world class players it might mean we have to play them

How many loan deals is that now ? I make it 5.

I suspect if Scott was gonna make it with us it wouldve happened by now.

I doubt we will see him in a Chelsea shirt again, such a shame as we all had huge expectations of him.

Yep, and we know that

1. Wigan do have money to burn after the sale of Palacios and Valencia

2. They need a pacey winger now that the latter has gone

so it probably makes very good business sense to send him there.

Shame, but I just can't see him in Chelsea blue.

me neither, he just hasnt progressed anywhere near as much as we hoped.

I'm happy these guys have gone to Prem sides where I can watch them every week. Unless of course it goes the same way as in Sahar's case.

Bloody hell, do we have any youngsters left?

Joking aside, this is a pretty good deal. With Valencia out of the way, he should get some playing time in a reasonably strong Premiership side. I hope he proves himself.

The Daily Mail's headline for this is "Biggest shock of the transfer season".....really? I'm not even English and I'm beginning to realize that site is a joke.

is it really? my god they are getting worse, how is that a massive shock.. patheric imbred imbeciles...

Good to see a number of our young players on loan at bigger clubs, hopefully they get played not like Sahar at Portsmouth last season. We've got Rajkovic and Stoch at Twente, Bertrand and Reading, Di Santo at Blackburn and Sinclairs now at Wigan, hopefully some of them will get into our 1st team squad.

This is actually part of a massive plan for next season. We're selling our entire first-team squad and replacing them all with our now finely-tuned youngsters. Trust me... Di Santo to outscore Torres next year. ::ChELSeAFaN::
