Jagielka raided at knifepoint

Featured Replies

Another footballer gets raided up in the slums.

Everton defender Phil Jagielka was threatened with a knife by thieves who broke into his Cheshire home.

The 27-year-old was watching his team play Hull City on television in the Carling Cup when three men stormed into the house in Knutsford.

He was forced to hand over jewellery and the keys to his Range Rover car after being threatened with a knife.

Police said nobody was hurt. Jagielka is the 11th Merseyside footballer to be burgled in recent years.

Cheshire Police said: "Nobody was hurt during the incident and the car was found abandoned a short distance away."

The England international's two young children are understood to have been at home at the time of the raid although his wife was out.

Previous raids

A spokesman for the club told BBC News: "Phil was shaken by the incident.

"This is perfectly understandable because he is a husband and father first and a footballer second.

"Phil is helping police with their inquiries."

A police spokesman added: "The homeowner was threatened with a knife and forced to hand over jewellery and the keys to his Range Rover car."

In May, burglars broke into the Woolton home of Jagielka's Everton teammate Steven Piennar.

Other victims have included Liverpool players Steven Gerrard, Dirk Kuyt, Pepe Reina and Lucas Leiva.

In their Liverpool homes - what do they expect

I have a friend in Chester, who is convinced that the scum of Liverpool travel there every weekend to rob.

If they catch them then they will get done on two counts of theft. Knutsford is Manchester rather than Liverpool so they must have nicked a motor as well!

 :D

No insurance either, three worst places announced today for drivers without insurance are Liverpool, Manchester and ermmm London but not Fulham Road way of course

Salt of the earth folk up there, best supporters in the land, I'll hear nothing more said on the matter.

Like hell!!! I feel very sorry for jagielka, and I am just glad that none of him nor his family were hurt in this appauling action. Your house is meant to be your sanctuary, and then these feckers do that! Where is big Duncan ferguson to stick the nut in them? And then get sent to do some bird? That is the other thing, if someone breaks into your house, I say they are fair game to whatever you feel you want to do with them!

Were we running odds onthe first robery ? cant find the thread

I reckon I could of got 12/1 on a Everton player.
