April 20, 201016 yr Apparently the kid who plays Edward Norton's character's brother in American History X also played John Connor in Terminator 2. He was also in Detroit Rock City. Huh... Yes, Edward Furlong is in all those movies. Not bad and he was great in the first two you mentioned (don't think I've seen Detroit Rock City). But it seems his career is going down. Last I heard he appeared in a Uwe Boll film. Can't get much worse than that.
April 20, 201016 yr Edward Furlong was in Little Odessa as well. The trailer is terrible, but the movie is quite good.
April 22, 201016 yr The Guns of Navarone Even before I clicked on the link, I already had the theme song playing in my head.
April 22, 201016 yr Me too! And thank you for reminding me of Anthony Quinn - brilliant actor, especially in la Strada and Zorba the Greek:
April 22, 201016 yr Zorba the Greek is one of my favourite movies and Anthony Quinn is a brilliant actor and also a favourite of mine.
April 22, 201016 yr I'm ashamed to admit it, but I haven't seen Zorba the Greek. La Strada is great, though. I've seen it quite a few times as I had to oppose(not sure if that's the correct word) one of my fellow students film analysis of La Strada. Edited April 22, 201016 yr by Maksimov
April 22, 201016 yr Just watched 'The Crazies', Done before, reminds me of Resident Evil/Hills have eyes. Good watch if you are bored.
April 22, 201016 yr Been watching some documentaries during the last few days: I thought it was alright, although it heavily centers on the US record industry. They've got it on Pitchfork television at the moment, so if you're a music fan, you might want to check it out: http://pitchfork.com/tv/#/episode/2144-i-need-that-record/1 --- It's an interesting subject and it seems like they've had a decent budget, so it looks quite good with the funky graphics and all, but if you want to be entertained, look somewhere else. If you want something to think about...this might be your thing. It's not one of Winterbottom's strongest moments, but it was alright.
April 23, 201016 yr I apologise in advance for the digression but re Edward Furlong: talk about the gloria swanson of his generation. I recall that when T2 came out everyone was just gobsmacked as to how good he was in that film & we'd all collectively agree (in a w**ky noddingly knowingly sort of way) that he was going to be one of the greats, couldn't wait for his next film etc etc. Yep.
April 23, 201016 yr Did people really say he was going to be a great actor based solely on T2? I thought he did well for someone who had never acted before, though. Then I remember little Odessa and American History came along and he looked like he could turn into a decent actor, but then he blew it.
April 23, 201016 yr MEAN MACHINE! MEAN MACHINE! MEAN MACHINE! Gotta love how 'ard Vinnie looks in practically every scene. Even when he's smiling.
April 23, 201016 yr MEAN MACHINE! MEAN MACHINE! MEAN MACHINE!Gotta love how 'ard Vinnie looks in practically every scene. Even when he's smiling. Burt Reynolds played that part in the original. I wonder how 'ard he looked in the movie. ;) (well, he can at least act a bit, mind you)
April 23, 201016 yr Try to get a copy of Zorba, Maks! Alan Bates is good too, as are Irene Papas and Lila somebody (forget her surname).
April 23, 201016 yr Try to get a copy of Zorba, Maks! It shouldn't be too hard to find. I've never seen the movie in full, but I've seen plenty of short clips from it.
April 24, 201016 yr Just watched "How To Train Your Dragon" and I really liked it. I booked the tickets for this movie online but couldn't go. :(
April 24, 201016 yr I booked the tickets for this movie online but couldn't go. :( Too bad. Download it instead :(
April 24, 201016 yr Still without television, I have also been without video and DVD for over a week. No more, however! Tonight I girded my loins, and despite being severely technologically challenged, I managed to swop over leads and get both DVD and Video working again. So I looked through my videos for things I hadn't got round to watching and found a film called To End All Wars. Made it 2001, it stars Robert Carlyle, (always a pleasure) Keifer Sutherland( who actually feels pain in this film!), and others including James Cosmo. It's about the building of the railway in the valley of the Kwai. I like war films, and found this one very authentic and moving EXCEPT that every now and then for reasons which defy logic they decided to sentimentalise certain parts by playing Enya type music! Why do film makers do that?? Can't they see that a powerful scene is far more powerful in silence than it is with saccharine music played over it? I had never heard of it before. Has anyone else heard of it/seen it? It's the same story basically as The Bridge On the River Kwai, with Alec Guinness, but this has less stiff upper lipped Englishmen in it! I also like King Rat, with Stephen Segal.

But anything with Carlyle in it is worth seeing :D Have you seen Rescue Dawn?
April 25, 201016 yr I also like King Rat, with Stephen Segal. Rat indeed, ask this lady (or Jenny McCarthy) http://movies.msn.com/the-wrap/steve-seaga...tory/?GT1=28101 Tonight I girded my loins Seems off-topic... Edited April 25, 201016 yr by ThunderDan
April 25, 201016 yr I had a Beverly Hills Cop marathon with friends earlier in the week, which was a laugh.
