Assists and goals so far

makes for very interesting reading. shows that DD is on fire this season and will definately be a big miss, but also shows that lampard isnt having as bad a season as some think. ( i know, its statistics and you can show anything you want with em)

I wonder how many times Anelka has provided the final ball for Drogba and how many of Anelka's goals have been assisted by Drogba.

I thought Anelka had more assists than that to be honest. Oh well..he's always working hard and creating overlaps and what not. He's having a terrific, albeit understated season.

On Drogba though...I'm really enjoying watching him play. He's almost unplayable at the moment, always looking like scoring.

It does depend to some extent on how you define an assist, but clearly Frank has not been in quite the decline some would have you believe.

The Times run something called the Castrol European ratings which cover the top five european leagues and Drogba heads that too as the player who has contributed more points to his team than anyone else across the whole of europe. (Last season it was Frank who headed those ratings.)

at the moment, and i'm touching wood, he has to be in the running for player of the year...not just ours (at the moment it's a shoo-in), i mean the overall award...i doubt he'll get it cos of all the negativity in media about him, but no-one comes close...bet it goes to rooney instead...had to laugh at match of the day last night...rooney blatantly cheats by doing a shocking dive...jonathan pearce quickly brushes over it and creams himself with every little thing rooney does, in a losing cause...in contrast dider's performance barely got a mention as they preferred to focus on our ineptitude at the back...sure it merited some time, but they should spend some time highlighting quality football too...like his first goal

I think in the diamond formation, and with a strike partner, Drogba was always going to shine. He even stated himself that he prefers having company up front as opposed to being a sole striker.

I also think that the Diamond formation lends itself to Frank scoring less, but maybe creating more

Just thought it might be interesting to have a comparative look from last seasons stats. Myself I found it particularly noteworthy that Frank is already past halfway to his combined total from last season, which is interesting given the perception that he's having a poor season thus far.

Though obviously the stats never tell the full story, as can clearly be seen from Nico's fall in numbers from last year. Myself I think he has been right there as one of our best players of the year, his workrate and his ability to drop deep or wide really have created another dimension for us in attack.

How has Saha got 10 goals in the league this season? o___0

Everton have been poor, and hasn't he only quite recently come back from injury?

I was there on Saturday Plokkers and thought that Saha, along with Rooney, was the best opposition forward I had seen at the Bridge this season.

Terry and Carvalho were certainly glad to see the back of him.

ive always thought saha was a very underrated player. its obviously been the injuries that have held him back because i honestly feel he would definately be at a top team right now if his career had continued the way it was going.

I completely agree. He was absolutely monumental for Fulham, and had them as high as fourth in the league before Man Utd came in and bought him.
