Yuri off already?

Not from the greatest source (daily mail) but apparently Yuri may be leaving shortly

Dynamo Kiev are considering a loan move for Chelsea wide man Yuri Zhirkov.

The Russia international was the Blues marquee signing when he joined from CSKA Moscow for £18million in the summer.

But injuries have hampered his development at Stamford Bridge, where he has managed just six Premier League appearances.

The 26-year-old warned before making the switch that he would not be happy to be a bit-part player for the Blues, though he has been patient and positive while battling unexplained swelling in both his knees since moving to England.

Zhirkov started Chelsea's last two games, but assistant boss Ray Wilkins recently admitted he was behind Ashley Cole - 'the best left-back in the world' - while Florent Malouda is preferred on the left wing.

A recent audition in central midfield is likely to be short-lived once Michael Essien and John Mikel Obi return, so Kiev are ready to chance their arm.

The Ukrainian League leaders can still do business as their championship does not resume until the end of the month.

Kiev's Russian boss Valery Gazzaev nurtured Zhirkov at CSKA and would be keen to sign him for the rest of the season

.

Been hard on the lad, he obviously wasn't Carlo's signings as in the formation he has implemented leaves no real room for wingers and as the article states Ashley Cole is the worlds best left back and he was never going to be able to make that position his own. Personally i hope he stays a bit longer and has a chance to show us why his nickname is the Russian Ronaldinho.

Doubt he will leave. He has had a few injuries to be fair to him and now he is free of them he is playing, and playing well imo

I was expecting this rumor to come during the Jan window. He has no future at Chelsea the way we play and all. Sooner or later, he will leave.

I can't see how we can let experienced players out on loan when we haven't even brought anyone in, I imagine we could recall him if the ban was upheld for next season but he would be much better off here trying to push his way into Carlo's plans.

I did tell Abram he was sh*te though.. :laugh2:

Reallly dont think he would go to Dynamo Kiev. If he would go out on loan then it would be either to a big european league or back to Russia. CSKA could need him against Seville :laugh2: When we signed him I already said that I dont understand the transfer and I still have the same opinion.

I cannot see him leaving for the moment. It would be a act of stupidy by the club to let him go after signing him for 18 million last summer. Also I am surpised that Carlo haven't played him in midfield. I reckon he would do well in midfield and would be able to provide width to get good crosses in to Drogba and Anelka.

We would be mad to let him leave. He's a decent lad who hasn't had the best of starts/luck, but I think he will grow into a fantastic player. Remember both Lamps and Drog didn't have the best of starts but look what's happened since.

He hasn't set the world on fire as of yet, but I love the way he plays. He actually runs at defenders, takes them on with his little mazey runs. They don't always work out but you've got to love a player who'll do that. plus as has been said before he can put a cross on a ten cent piece. He is a terrific player to have, though I am questioning the amount of left sided players we seem to be accruing.

We'd be stupid to let him go; he's the best winger we've got.

I really wish him and Ashley would get time to build up the most lethal left-sided partnership ever seen in football. Denis and Ryan who?

With Ash out for 3 months with a broken ankle he may have to drop back to full back???

He WILL have to drop to full back. Either him or Ferreira.

I'm sure this is bollocks, but jsut in case, NO WAY should this happen. He's been mostly good, sometimes superb, is versatile and we should play him more when he's fit. Why would we send him out on loan at this stage of the season?

I love how a bunch of journos have referred to him as a flop and such because of his injuries, yet I see no mention of Aquillani playing like 4 times for Pool all season.

hope not as i don't rate ferreira as a left back as he's the only other option.

he's better than ash going forward but not as solid at the back.

Yuri doesn't beat Ashley on any count (going forward or in defence) to be honest. His link up with Malouda/ Lampard is poor and he is extremely fragile by the looks of it. ::ChELSeAFaN::

after the battering hes taken from opposition players recently, and come back for more,do you still think hes fragile?. i know im labouring the point a bit,but it s***s me the way some people judge new players so quickly.imo hes settled in quicker than malouda and ivanovic, and i wonder how many people who thought he was s***e still think this.

Amen to that. I always had high expectations for him and he proved to me how good he is after watching him play (and so well, btw) after he got the big cut on his head. By next year he'll be a very important part of the Chelsea family.

Bravo, Yuri :D

He's very unlucky to be behind the world's best LB and an in form LW...

He may have to be used elsewhere to get more gametime when everyone's fit.

We could use him as a shadow striker. His pace is going to give the likes of Faye and Huth nightmares, so if we pair him up with Anelka... This works because Mikel is out for this game, and then we can also utilise the width of a flat 4-man midfield.

-------------------Cech

Ferreira----Alex-----Ivanovic---A Cole

J Cole----Lampard---Deco-----Malouda

-----------------------Zhirkov

------------Anelka

Looks good but after the way Joe Cole was exposed Vs Spurs id put Yuri on the left and play Drogba and Anelka, But also cole will probably be under less pressure in the next game compared to spurs away so this would maybe work out!

I also see Essien playing some part in this game towards the end to see if he would make the Liverpool game, So i could see Deco drop out at some point :JC_doubleup:
