February 1, 201511 yr I was laughing out loud at this and there was an Irish guy behind me who couldn't understand what the crowd were singing so asked me to translate. Maybe I should have edited my language as I didn't "asterisk" the last word, I also explained who FL's cousin was, as I'm not sure he knew - he did however immediately know the significance of Jamie Redknapp being abused! Oh and I also liked "Champions of Europe, you'll never sing that" in response to City fans singing Champions of England.
February 1, 201511 yr Just in case anyone missed it. The Matthew Harding , spotting jamie redknapp in the Sky box , were barracking him with abuse ,after his anti Chelsea comments about the liverpool games. Then they turned to Lampard ,singing , "frankie lampard , your cousin's a c**t "..... . Priceless. That was sung a lot in Brogans before the game too haha, great song! Where were you sat BQ? February 1, 201511 yr West Stand Upper. First time I'd been there and it was the only place we could get tickets. The atmosphere wasn't as good as MHL or the Shed but wasn't bad and the view of the action was great! Price made my eyes water!

Funny how no one on here or anyone I know would have that as their favourite stand but its the most expensive haha.
February 2, 201511 yr We were West lower and view was awful - I'm used to MH upper too! But we did get free tickets so can't complain!
February 2, 201511 yr The view from West Upper is great - very much like TV coverage (only reversed of course which managed to do my brain in when watching MOTD!). It's difficult - MH and Shed have much better atmosphere (usually!) but there's large parts of play that you don't really see properly. Those two things make them pretty equal in my eyes. But then you take into account the price difference - nearly £30 and there's no contest!!

February 2, 201511 yr Yeah I think I agree re atmosphere over view - if you want the best view, the answer is to watch it on tv really!
February 2, 201511 yr One song from the past popped into my head while reading above blogs...........Whose up mary Brown.......whose up mary brown.....tommy tommy docherty tommy tommy docherty.............some of you will remember why..................................................................................
February 2, 201511 yr On another scene.. Since when do chelsea fans need appologies from OTHER chelsea fans about a song that may or may not be offensive about a non chelsea player.......Perhaps im the last cave man on site
February 2, 201511 yr Against Watford late 70s. Ross Jenkins, and Luther Blissett too. And he's a monkey in a zoo, in a zoo. How times have changed
February 2, 201511 yr We all went to Wembley one fine day in May a crowd Of Supporters all happy and gay And When it was over and When it was done Man utd beat Benfica by 4 goals to 1 The 1st was scored by a wee Georgie best The 2nd was scored When bobby out jumped the rest The 3rd was scored by a young brian kid The stretford shouted for more and for more ,but i never did So bobby obliged them by making it 4 They came down to chelsea in 75 The great Manchester United the pride of them all They filled up the north stand the shed and the sides But chelsea were a many too many too ruck and the famous man utd Got battered to fcuk We all went up there in 78 and the whole Of Manchester were laying in wait But we ran them far and we ran them wide Cause chelsea had Their pride. Has anyone ever heard this sung, I'm buggered if I have and I know it been around years on forums, etc. What's the tune? Did we play MUFC in 1975, they were in Div2 then we went down and they came up. It's a very odd song and looks like one of their with adapted words.
February 2, 201511 yr I know the tune but can't relate it to an original song. It's a bit of a sea shanty type tune

February 2, 201511 yr Yeah I think I agree re atmosphere over view - if you want the best view, the answer is to watch it on tv really! Cannot agree there BQ, had to sit this one out as I damaged my leg, the most annoying thing is why the ball is in play sky kept showing the crowd, city bench or Chelsea bench for what seem ages, also you do not see the whole picture like you do watching live.

Point taken. But still better than MH or the shed especially for a short Arse like me. And a hell of a lot cheaper than the west stand!
February 3, 201511 yr but i Has anyone ever heard this sung, I'm buggered if I have and I know it been around years on forums, etc. What's the tune? Did we play MUFC in 1975, they were in Div2 then we went down and they came up.It's a very odd song and looks like one of their with adapted words. I think the tune is the old Orange flute a Protestant song in Ireland. The same tune was later used by the Dubliners and these are both on you tube. I remember being taught the last part of the Chelsea version from fellow Chelsea supporters in the Shed back in late 70's but I don't recall it ever being sung
February 3, 201511 yr Thanks. I've just watched it on Youtube and I'm now certain I've never heard it sung anywhere before. Unlike the Tommy Baldwin or Osgood songs which you'll always hear somewhere belted out by pissed up fifty years olds. I like the last verse but can't see the point of the others. Did we play them in '75?
February 3, 201511 yr Never played them in 75. Theyres been a few factually incorrect songs whee the lyrics have been bended to make it ryme. Six foot two, eyes of blue, Mickey Droy is after you.... Never mind the fact he was 6 4 and a half with brown eyes.

Did we play them in '75? No we didn't play them in 1975 and we didn't play them at Old Trafford in 1978 We played them up there in the league in September 1977 and May 1979 and in the FA Cup in January 1979
February 3, 201511 yr I can't remember if it was at a match or in the boozer but '' Adolf Hitler he ain't dead he's the leader of the Shed''. Now it might well have been like i said just a couple of pissed up geezers in the pub or on the tube. So before anyone complains it wasn't sang by the masses at every home game.
February 3, 201511 yr No we didn't play them in 1975 and we didn't play them at Old Trafford in 1978 We played them up there in the league in September 1977 and May 1979 and in the FA Cup in January 1979 We played them at the Bridge in 78 and lost 1-0. I remember cos the match was all ticket and cost one pound fifty. The reason i remember the price of the ticket (Shed) was i bought a mate a ticket and the previous day he had turned over a phone box and paid me in 2p's.
February 3, 201511 yr Unlike the Tommy Baldwin or Osgood songs which you'll always hear somewhere belted out by pissed up fifty years olds. "cant beat the old ones'!. Sad thing is i'm nearer to 60 now!.
February 4, 201511 yr Didn't we have, a lovely time, the day we went to Wrexham A lovely day, a fight on the way, and all the Taffies run away And on the way back, we had an attack, from Manchester United Singing a few of our favourite songs, as the wheels went round
February 6, 201511 yr hi, just joined this forum today (i was googling something else and this came up), and as a long time Chelsea fan (1969) it has been a superb couple of hours reading the previous 24 pages of memories - thank you all who have contributed, and keep them coming! i must admit i havent been to the ground much since it went all seater, but did about 30 years of standing on the terraces trying to work out some of those chants/songs, so thanks for clearing up a few of those unheard/mis-heard lyrics! i think it is clear that a lot of singing goes on either in the pub or on the train and if you just go to and from the games (as I did) you will never get to understand a lot of the songs. i do have one recollection of a taunt that hasnt been said yet - it was when we played Liverpool at home on the last game of the season late 1980s. It ended up 3-3 and was a fantastic game, although we should have won, Wicks and Bumstead scored for us and Speedie hit an absolute screamer (at the other end of the ground so didnt see it properly) that i am sure would have won goal of the season if it had been caught on camera. Anyway, the taunt. Liverpool had a certain centre-forward called Ian somebody and they loved to sing a song about when he gets the ball he scores a goal. We changed their song to suggest that when he got the ball he didnt do anything particularly useful with it (when he gets the ball, he does f-all, Ian Ian Rush). about half of us were singing it and the other half were superstitious about it - thinking dont antagonise him otherwise he'll score, which of course he did. DOH! The i-told-you-so's had their moment! sounds similar to the Steve McMahon story earlier.
