:happy0034: Dear Roman

How are things? It was a tough loss the other night and must have been hard for you to take…would you believe it Jose got one over on you...no wonder the media said you lost it with the boys after the game, I would to spending all that cash on individuals that cannot perform on the night in front of a capacity crowd. But having reflected back on it all, it was your fault wasn’t it? You hired then fired probably one of the best tactical managers in professional football today because you wanted to buy and pick the team, after all it was your cash that pushed us through the ceiling of mediocrity into one of the best known teams in the world…a big thank you from all the fans for getting us to the next hurdle. Of course had you have left it for those people that you hired they might have taken a different approach by ‘building’ a dynasty over a 5 + year period rather than have instant gratification like a quick w**k or a quick fu** from one of the local whores……which reminds me how many whores do you have lined up to manage the team for let’s say a season before you get bored? Perhaps because Jose didn’t give you the blow job that you thought you richly deserved so he had to go, so you had to go out and hire a few more who would be submissive while at the same time throwing you a few scraps such as the odd final and semi finals of the CL, oh and the FA Cup thrown in for good measure. I have wondered over recent years how much clout the manager has in terms of spending your well earned cash…..I doubt not much since it was you that decided to spend a few million on one of your fellow country men who couldn’t hit the back of the fuc*ing net if he tried. You could of course purchased 3 or 4 good youngsters for that money which would have provided the team with a solid foundation for the future, instead of the crumbling ruins we are left with to at least try to win at least one of the two competitions we are left in…to be honest given the way we are playing right now the FA Cup might be the only thing we hang on to, as the team has let the Prem League out of their grasp several months ago, we were passed the baton by Utd and kept dropping it. And what’s with the gooners? I think we had an 11 point lead and then a nine point lead and they are now top……bummer. I guess your players have not earned their pay cheques of late?

So I hear you going to be spending more of that hard earned cash again this summer? I thought I heard…..probably a mistake, that you are going to go after Torres for 50 mill, you won’t stand a chance of getting him or any other big named players thanks to those damn Arabs and Spaniards, so I guess we will be settling for the scraps or old legs that will willing take you cash for a season or maybe two. The other Manc’s owned by the Arabs will follow your staff around during the summer because they wouldn’t know how to scout a player anyway, they just send Mr. Cook to outbid you each and every time you make an approach to any player. At least the Spaniards know who they are after and will pay a ridiculous amount of tax payers cash to get him. Perhaps you might be able to sell a few lame ‘ducks’ as you did in the early 80’s from you apartment and buy some young talent, speaking of which, what happened to the young talent that you had that was part of the ‘master plan’? Oh that was getting rid of the wife and picking up some young Russian talent...nice looking chick by the way JT would be proud...he hasn't has he? All that money spent on training facilities and the Academy would surely be paying dividends by now? Oh yeah I forgot that talent goes elsewhere and eventually gets sold off without actually playing as a regular in the first team. I think the only one is JT, a fine captain and leader. Gee he’s screwed up a bit lately hasn’t he? I guess he was just unfortunate to get caught and brought the press down and around the team to a degree where the entire team has lost focus which I am sure pissed you off; and Ashley has added fuel to the fire for good measure. Still injuries aside, and without them we might be in a different position, we are not in to bad a shape for the next 11 games. Keep up the good work Roman and keep dreaming of that Champions League ...how much will it end up costing you? It might be cheaper to by EB games and win it on PS3..

Your humble servant...

Perhaps some readers will have more letters to send

Yeah 3 points of the top with 2 games in hand. Total f*cking disaster aint it?

If Roman had never bought the club our trophy cabinet would still be empty and gathering dust! So thank you Mr Abromavich.

You are what I hate about our fans. Spoilt and greedy.

The cheek of some people is f**king astonishing.

Its that type of brat mentality which has been damanging the spirit and atmosphere at the bridge.

I knw, this si why I can not understand why anybody could even mention getting rid of Carlo, had nount to spend and looks like he might win the league in his first year. If he had got everyon he wanted like Jose did at the start of this year than we would have beaten Wigan, Man City etc etc I would be smiling on the home st8 and probably in the QF of the CL. He didn't so we are doing it the hard way, he has done am f'ing good job in my view !

is like a ceasar...thumbs down!

Jesus, are we in the relegation zone or something ?

yes we are, we definately arent 3rd 3 points behind with 2 games in hand and doing well in the FA cup. because if we were then no-one in their right mind would write something as ridiculous as that.

I have a letter to Roman:

Dear Mr Abramovich,

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for everything you've done for our club. You took a fairly erratic side (albeit with some promise) on the brink of financial ruin and turned them into global contenders. We might not even have stayed in this division without your unbelievable generosity towards the club.

We might be struggling more than a couple of years ago, but these things happen in football. No one can expect a club to continue in the same form that they were experiencing when they were getting tens of millions of pounds worth of fresh talent every six months.

Since you came to Chelsea, I as a fan have had the chance to experience a Champions League Final, two FA Cup victories and best of all two Premier League victories, the first of which broke all kinds of English records along the way, and it occurs to me that I have only had this experience thanks to you. I hope you will appreciate my sincerity when I say that I thank you for this from the very depths of my heart. Believe me when I say I owe you a pint.

From a very grateful fan,

Absolutly sick of all these mournho fanboys still crying over his sacking, they clearly dont remember how badly we were playing in those last few months and dont remeber the dissapearance of thos "inspirational" substitutions or the amazing tactic of sticking a centre back up front when were in desperate need of a goal.

The rot set in under mourinho and all he did to stop it was argue with Roman and start sulking at matches, and before anyone starts he was backed with cash from the begining of his reign right through to the end, Malouda wasnt exactly free.

For all of you shooting me down for having an opinion perhaps you should read the 'official Blackburn match thread' oh sorry we are not allowed to have opinions here except only if we are going to say that the team will win everything....take off those rose coloured glasses and see this team for what it really is and today was the prime example. I have not given up hope yet to win this thing but the the hope is fading....if Roman was mad during the week he must be livid about now and lining up yet another manager. :)

PK13: well f**king in. That should have its own thread, to be honest.

Jack is right. Everyone compares the manager to Jose, and until it stops and we get real, every manager is gonna be not good enough. The Special one haunts this place in the right and wrong ways

Hopefully not, or he deserves less credit than even you are prepared to give him.

I don't believe what I read from CFCCAN's original posting at the top of this thread.

Not even a word of "Thank You". Are most of Chelsea fans "Glory Hunter" now? Only love the club when the club is successful? Are we taking success for granted?

Back to era before Abramovich, it was already a miracle that we managed to sign Zola, Desailly, Frank Lebouef etc.

Weren't they senior enough when they joined us?

Yes I am thankful, truly without his wallet we would be another Everton or Villa, just about there but not quite...maybe you should read some other threads, the frustration is all over this site. I am not one of those fans that is a trophy hunter, I would rather have some barren years and build a dynasty than go year to year thinking that we are on for 'four trophies'' Today's game is a buisness, its all about cash flow, its about shareholders and the board, its all about sponsorship deals not about the likes of you and me, the clubs only want your hard earned cash week in and week out. Its about putting a product on the shelf that you and I will buy into...only its players and not merchandise...oh sorry it is..how much can we sell stuff for around the world. Even the players and agents have become greedy. When Roman came here I will give him one thing...he changed the face of football around the world, and dragged the Prem League into what it is today...a money making machine, except that everyone now wants a piece of the pie. Transfer fees are stupid for mediocre players, it will go full circle, more clubs will go into administration as they will not be able to compete to stay in business. The likes of Man City, Real Madrid, Chelsea and maybe one or two others will become the Walmart of football; the corporate giant buying up everyone so that others cannot compete against you. This team however has got old product on the shelf and needs to make a change or it won't survive in the upper echelon. Difficult decisions will need to be made from the top down...

Very nicely said PK13!

It's also amazing that in a world with Hicks and Gillette, The Glaziers, clubs like Portsmouth, Crystal Palace, Southampton on the verge of destruction etc etc and we're moaning about Roman?

Some people really need to get a sense of perspective I feel.

Although to be honest I also think Liverpool and Manchester United fans even need a bit of perspective with regards to their owners. But Roman is awesome, I'm not sure I'd want anyone else to own the club.

I agree with that. Roman has given the club so much and everyone should be a bit more thankful. Unlike the Glaziers he doesnt really portray Chelsea as a investment, I dont think he expects to earn money with Chelsea. Hes interested in football and if he wouldnt love the club he wouldnt spend millions year in year out.

from the official site:

'It has been really, really difficult but the manager has been there for us and we all are sticking together. We have a game against Portsmouth and we have to go there and win.'

Mikel also spoke about last week's meeting at the training ground following the Inter defeat when players, management and the owner gathered together.

'We know we have to win something but the meeting wasn't about that. Everybody came to show their support; the owner came to show his support. That is what we need at the moment and that is exactly what he did.

'He came to cheers us up and tell us to keep going and although we didn't win the last two games we have a game on Wednesday and we have to put things right.'

So Roman even showed his support after the Inter defeat ....

Mate I can understand frustration at getting beaten, I can understand feeling like Mourinho shouldn't have gone. Put those two together and you have a bitter taste in your mouth after the Inter game.

But that letter... too much! And it's not just a case of 'don't bite the hand that feeds you', I think you're not just being ungrateful but overly harsh too. And extra crude. It'd be alright if it was funny but..

That said, you're entitled to your opinion. I'm just glad you're not in charge.

Dark days down at the Bridge right now, with Chelsea out of the Champions League and in danger of dropping out of the title picture following a return of just seven points out of a possible 15.

That would mean a trophyless debut season for Carlo Ancelotti at the west London club, and that may mean it is his only season.

Oliver Kay in the Times puts the focus onto owner Roman Abramovich, and why he may be ultimately to blame for what's gone wrong over the past few years.

This is an article on Soccernet.....tell me its not about money....Roman's heart is in the right place...and my letter is 'tongue in cheek' and might be a bit OTT in the language..if u know me I am quite the opposite...but sometimes we have to vent in frustration..living in North America, Hicks and Gillette are well known busines men who borrow other peoples money to make their own, as do many of the billionaires..

Fifteen minutes after the final whistle blew on Chelsea’s latest unsuccessful tilt at the Champions League, Roman Abramovich, flanked by minders, took a long, lonely trudge across the pitch at Stamford Bridge.

His face, as ever, was inscrutable, but enough noises have come out of Stamford Bridge to tell us what he was thinking. Disappointment with Carlo Ancelotti? Yes, a little. Anger with his players for failing to deliver the performances in proportion with their pay-packets? Yes, plenty. Regret at losing sight of the big picture over the past year or two? Intriguingly, yes.

Abramovich, according to someone close to him, is facing up to having made mistakes. To an outsider, the obvious one was falling out with José Mourinho, but the Chelsea owner is more concerned by the way he has allowed his squad to grow older — and, very significantly, richer — while seeing Manchester United re-establish themselves as the dominant force in English football.

He continues:

Considering it was always Abramovich’s aim for Chelsea to break even by 2010, the lack of forward planning is staggering. Although the precise figure has not yet been released, Chelsea’s wage bill for the last financial year was more than £150 million. United’s was a not inconsiderable £123 million, but the champions’ turnover was £72 million higher than Chelsea’s. In terms of wages as a percentage of turnover, Chelsea spent at least 70 per cent. The equivalent figures at United and Arsenal are 44 per cent and 33 per cent respectively.

Abramovich accepts that to rejuvenate the squad he will have to spend, but he is loath to throw good money after bad. Joe Cole, out of contract this summer, seems destined to be the first victim of a purge of the older players, but he might not be the only one.

How come people always compare current managers success @ the bridge, as compared to JMs?

Better question, IMO, is why people NEVER compare what a current manager @ the bridge has been given as compared to JM.

Nobody might of brought the success JM has, but no ones been given the resources he got either.
