Is it Better to Play First?

Featured Replies

I had originally felt that ManU has a big advantage in playing their game against Sunderland after our game against Liverpool, since they will know exactly what they have to do when they get on the pitch. However, after thinking about what happened at the Citeh match, which in all likelihood greatly affected our team's play at White Hart Lane later that day, I think that I would not have wanted to risk another "last minute goal for a win" by ManU against Sunderland occuring prior to (or at the same time as) the match at Anfield, and so I am OK with our match being played at the early slot on Sunday.

What do you think?

It's only better if we can win...otherwise we just give a huge boost to United.

Win, and United will feel under pressure, lose and United become determined to take advantage with the title in reach.

Again we want Spurs, Villa or City to win this weekend.

They all play on Saturday. If one of them wins it all but ends Liverpool's 4th spot hopes.

If however, City and Villa is a draw, and Bolton beat Spurs, 4th spot is a real possibility and we don't want that to happen do we?!

After last weekend, and seeing what happened, I would say its better that we play first.

The players should go out there with 3 points, and nothing but on their minds.

I would normally rather Man U be playing first because the pressure would be on them to go and win at sunderland after our performance against stoke, but i do agree our result against Liverpool will have a bearing on what happens at Sunderland. If we dont win they WILL win because they will sniff the title.

If we win i think there is a chance they could maybe drop 2 points and only draw, in which case we are champions.(Baring a goal difference catastrophy on the last day)

At least we know exactly what we have to do, that Scholes goal must have affected the players at Spurs, this time we MUST concentrate on winning our game then we can sit back and watch the mancs squirm.(please god)

Good point as well. Players are human, after all. I watched that game, and Scholes goal totally devastated me. If I was a player for Chelsea, I can see the same thing happening to me as well, making me just feel awful prior to having to go out onto the field at White Hart Lane.

There is a clear pattern: when Manure play first and win, reclaiming top spot, we either play crap and lose or play brilliantly and win.

Lets just go to Anfield, take the 3 points in any shape or form, and after the game let Geoff Shreeves interview as many of the team as possible....and as long as each and everyone states:

THE PRESSURE IS ON MAN URE NOW....just like what happened on Saturday when their players were interviewed by Shreeves after dumping on the Spuds...let Taggart and his little red devils stew a bit!!!!

Actually, I don't want us or any other team to play at all. Let's declare this season closed, whatever club is top of the league, win the title.

Hey, wait a minute, guess what....!!

Always better to go first. It's the same in a golf match heads up, you want to tee off first. I think it helps keep you focused, and if you pull off teh shot, then it really puts the pressure on the opponent. Similarly, if you mess up it can lull the opposition into feeling that they are safe, and cause them to arse up too!
