Inception

Featured Replies

Thought this film probably deserved it's own thread as it will create quite a bit of discussion. I saw this last night with the missus, and i really enjoyed it.

Visually stunning, clever script, good performances (especially like Tom Hardy), and the 'hanger' like ending really nailed it for me.

Some of it seemed a little cliched to me, and i thought it seemed to drag in parts due to it's 2.5 hrs in length, but on the whole; a near masterpeice.

Would be interested to get other opinions?

Anyone disappointed after the hype that has coincided?

What was your view on how it ends?

Elliott.

I'll get back on this topic once I've seen the movie. I don't know what to expect, so I won't be reading anything about it until I've seen it. I think that's probably the best approach.

Based on what I've heard...it seems like it's the best movie ever made.....ever

I'll make up my own mind if I go and see it.

Really looking forward to seeing this, Christopher Nolan is a superb writer and this just looks superb.

Saw it tonight. It's the best film I've seen in quite a while, possibly since No Country For Old Men.

I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

I saw it the other day and I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting it to try to be too clever and become a bit of a mess, but it didn't, so I quite liked it. There were some minor things that I didn't like about it, but it's still probably the most enjoyable movie I've seen all summer.

Great movie. Probably just barely scratches my top 10 movies I've ever watched. I really loved that cliff hanger ending and aside from Leonardo di Caprio, I can't recall too many things I didn't like. Perhaps it was too dragged out at times.

Saw it last night, and really enjoyed it, without being blown away by the whole thing. Some amazing shots and great music (as seems the norm for Nolan now) and the plot was well constructed. It didn't have the same impact as, say The Matrix, did on me, but then I was about 13/14 when that came out, so was a bit more impressionable I guess.

I was rather underwhelmed by the first Matrix when I first saw it. I wasn't able to see it immediately when it first came out because of my military service and when I finally had the time and opportunity to see it, pretty much everyone I knew had seen it and told me how great it is. I thought it was worth watching once, but I just didn't see what the fuss was about. Besides, I'd already seen the "bullet time" effect in a Sting music video. :laugh2:

Inception wasn't a mind-blowing experience either, but I thought it was superior to Matrix in just about every way. It's not surprising the effects were more impressive, because 11 years is a long time when it comes to movies and special effects, so I'll ignore that factor, but I thought the acting was better and the story was more interesting. I do realize that Matrix was a movie making milestone and I know its importance to popular culture, but I just think Inception is the better movie.

Just saw it tonight and loved it.

Although it's a highly complex movie and it left me somewhat confused about a few things at the end.

This film definitely deserves its own, separate topic. It's a film I can't seem to relate to any other; one that had my brain rattling all the way through, which I found made the film much more enjoyable. Quite an amazing topic to base a film around, and the concept of 'inception' itself is confusing, never mind trying to base a film around it, and then to go deeper; to dissect different dream states and then go further in to them. Everything about the film is just breath-taking; from the initial concept of the plot, to all of the special effects done throughout.

I think it's quite possibly the best film I've ever seen.

Saw it 2 nights ago and can't stop thinking about it, have to go again tomorrow night since my girlfriend hasn't seen it yet, although I'm not complaining. Modern epic in my mind, loved Hardy and JGL, although I would've liked a little more from Ellen Page, not sure if this is her type of film, although I guess CN was probably going for some naivete in casting someone like her.

About three years ago I wrote my senior thesis around reality / hyperreality and used films as my medium to study, focusing on the Matrix trilogy (though predominantly the first one), Fight Club, and The Truman Show. If I had to rewrite this now, I'd love to incorporate Inception into that paper.

I watched it earlier today, and I was absolutely blown away by it. It's so original, and I'm just happy that we finally have a modern film that actually challenges the audience, makes them pay attention - perfect example, I went with 2 of my friends, both of whom went to toilet, and when the film moved on, they had no idea what was going on, meaning I had to explain it to them. It's absolutely incredible, it's now, more than likely, one of my favourite films. It had that much of an effect on me, it was incredible.

I thought leo was absolutely outstanding in it, in fact after we came out my mates and i all agreed that he might finally get the oscar that his career has so badly deserved. I read the other day that Christopher Nolan started writing the script for this when he was 16. A lesser director could easily have made a complete hash out of that especially when they had about so many parts going on at the end but it was handled masterfully. Spectacular film

He probably still is in limbo, regardless of whether or not the totem fell. He used the totem to check that he was not stuck in SOMEONE ELSES dream, because the architect couldnt replicate how it fell. Since Cobb knows how his totem falls, he could easily be stuck in his own dreamworld.

That's my theory, anyway.

*SPOILER ALERT*...

So what was everyones take on the ending?

My interpretation was that he was happy to live in his alternate world, and remained stuck there forever, thus the spinning top kept on spinning?..

Thoughts?...
