HazardsLeftPeg Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 (edited) Manchester City have confirmed the signing of striker Mario Balotelli from Inter Milan on a five-year deal Link Edited August 13, 2010 by footballoholic
Zola's Love Child Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 (edited) This is the first City transfer that makes me really worried about them as a threat. A oft-moody striker, on a long term contract who hasn't lived anywhere near to the potential he has, and kind of under the radar for a 24 million signing. It just reminds me of our move for Dider. Difference is Drogba is actually a nice person in real life, he's a very humble person who helps out for a ton of charities. Mario is a spoilt kid who's been told he's brilliant since a young age and eventually became a arrogant prick, he'll ruin any dressing room with his antics. He expects to play ever match and Mancini has already told the squad he will rotate this season, welcome to the circus Balotelli. Edited August 13, 2010 by J.C.B
HazardsLeftPeg Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 Just been to an Inter forum and seen quotes like: Ok, finaly this saga is over, and the cancer has left the club before it could spread too much. So you get a pretty good idea of him!

Until he kicks off though, I'm going to be glancing at City results before United ones however.
Andreas Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 How many strikers do they have? its a 25 man squad they need to present, they must have about 40 players - selling some players on the cheap soon is there only option right? Balotelli is a spoilt kid, who most likely will get the supporters against him after one season and on top of that cause some drama within the team, glad we did not go anywhere near him.
loz Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Most of what we know about Balotelli we know from the media reports which generally edit the full truth to suit the story they want to tell. I agree that Balotelli appears to be a player with a lot of emotional baggage however I do find it quite telling that Mancini, who used to manage him and therefore knows him better than 99% of people, is more than happy to bring him to City. That, to me, suggests he is maybe less of a handful than he is being portrayed to be.
Andreas Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Mancini has slagged Bellamy off and said he wont make it into the last 25. Wonder who else gets the boot.

It's not the media fueling though we've all seen his antics during matches i mean how many times has he had a fit on the pitch, i recall several red cards and was it him who just sat down on the field during the middle of a match? also throwing his inter milan shirt to the ground. It's obvious what kind of character he is. I'm quarter italian spent a lot of time in Italy and i have to admit that growing up in Brescia (North Italy) as a young black kid is very hard, a lot of racism goes on up there plus he was adopted so not gonna deny he had a tough upbringing but you can tell because of everything he's had to go through he's turned out rotten and especially didn't help the fact that he's amazingly talented at football because it just made him even more arrogant. “I’m sorry that I’m leaving Inter and Italy, because I would have preferred to continue my professional career in my country,†Balotelli wrote on his official website www.mariobalotelli.it. He really loves you City, of course he never joined you for the money . Edited August 13, 2010 by J.C.B
TheWestwayWonder Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 In my opinion, this is not going to work out. He is immensely talented, and Mancini may know him better than anyone, but this is a guy who needs some leadership and needs to mature. A dressing room with immense pressure to perform and justify an outlay of a half billion dollars is not really the place, imo. But getting to a new country might just prove to be the change he needs. Hope not though.. I'll put it this way. If, somehow, Balotelli had been bought by Man Utd, I wouldve been a lot more worried about him fulfilling his potential. Still worried about City
Scott Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 The Cancer has finally landed. Makes me less worried about Citeh.

Still worried about City Exactly, I dont think this is a dressing room like ours or the Mancs where the established veterans( do exist at city!?!?!) are helping out the youths to become the best they can and thus become the future of the team....but more likely every striker will be looking to slit the throats of the others (figurtively speaking!) as there are so many competing for so few spots....and aside from maybe Tevez, who has a garaunteed spot? In their position, would you want to help the kid whose likely to steal your spot if he does well? Not so much! Edited August 13, 2010 by Barry Bridges

Meh... tell him to come back when he stops a Civil War.
mad_mac Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Meh... tell him to come back when he stops a Civil War. The new standard by which all strikers should be held to. Actually had a good chuckle at that one, Joe

sals Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 This is a very dangerous signing. A lot of the issues concerning balotelli during histime at inter concerned the racial abuse that he constantly was the target of. Juve fans with banners as pleasant as "negroe's can't be Italian". For a teenager having to deal with this kind of constant abuse its not suprising that he he lost his cool on numerous occasions. From all accounts he has a very good relationship with Mancini and now that he wont have to worry about any racial abuse he is in an environment where he might be able to really flourish. From what I have seen of him, which is not a great deal he is a very complete footaller and it is very worrying, maybe not so much in this season but most definitely in the future.
BlueNose Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 He is a very talented player with tremendous pace, but either through lack of opportunity,or his behaviour,he hasnt really been able to flourish at inter and so i think this move could be a big step forward for him, however i dont want him to shine to much as i would rather see kalou playing better than him :)
BigIzz Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Balotelli never got a fair shake at Inter really, if there was everyone someone who would benefit from a change of scenery it would be him. The signing is a risk though, but with City's money does it really matter if he flops?
bluemoon Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 I know who i'd rather have... I've heard he has put in a transfer request already... Of course he would of preferred to stay in his adopted homeland but lets face it, he was given gods abuse whilst playing there. Had the wheel nuts on his car loosened for god sake. There was a clamour for him to remain in Italy when he was called up for the national side. Of course he was going to release a statement as he did. Fair play to him. He will be a beast in this league.
Andreas Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Remains to be seen what Mario can do in this league tbh - can he adapt and at the same time get the fans with him? or will his ego take over and make it a similar situation like it was in Italy.

Well we aren't a racist set of fans and I doubt we will try and murder him either. Might be a start in helping him settle.
Andreas Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 The only positive thing about Mario Balotelli would be: Melissa Castagnoli, his girlfriend.
