Gem Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Part 2 of my picture dedication to one of our former players, this time it's Michael Ballack. Again please add more photos/videos :)
Gem Posted August 26, 2010 Author Posted August 26, 2010 Thank you Michael for your years of service - my highlights are the goal against Blackburn in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, and the Chelsea vs. Mancs match where he ran the show 2-1. I'm gonna miss him more than I thought.
Barry Bridges Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Great servant and I feel under appreciated by many fans, hopefully someone will be able to step in where he left off or we could very well miss his presence this season. I really think we should of kept him for this season if claims are true that he was willing to take a massive pay cut. Anyways, probably has some of the worst luck Ive ever seen in football, but atleast he went down in our history being a key player in us winning the double.....even if that costed him a last shot at the WC with a very young promising team....man such bad luck! Oh, and you got my gf exited in Chelsea briefly which was massive.....but only because she thought you were hot! Still, was an impressive accomplishment considering how much she moans whenever football is on the TV!
Scott Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Great job Gem, I'm looking forward to the third installment featuring Deco.
Andreas Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Great man and player, will actually miss him a lot even though I didn't realise that until now when the games have been kicked off - Wish him all the best over in Germany.
big blue Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 didnt get the complete effection a player of his magnitude deserved, prob for that dive against us in 05! 1 of the most technically gifted players of the last 20 years, would love to have signed a couple of seasons earlier, as i dont think we ever saw the best of michael ballack, the player he was at leverkusen and bayern where he'd nonchelantly control the midfield like only a german could, then pop up with all types of goals. has anyone got a link for his goal against liverpool for bayer leverkusen in the cl?
german-blue Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 1 of the most technically gifted players of the last 20 years certainly a good player but one of the most technically gifted players of the last 20 years? not even close in my opinion...
Mod Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Great job Gem, I'm looking forward to the third installment featuring Deco. Scotty, you are in for a surprise, that little man done more than he gets credit for (Didn't even BB have a half decent word last season when he came back in to the squad, though it could have been the drink talking) Loving these Gem! Be good to have this every year. PS; Could we have a f@*^ off Joe one too just to change it up a little!
ws6blue Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 er........................sorry boys but I was not a fan, especially last 2 seasons yes he was a big personality yes he had been a big player yes he got some important goals but thats it, poor touch, limited passing (all short or sideways), one paced, plenty sloppy give aways and fouls and commitment variable take a look at barca goal in cl at sb, he bottles it nad doesn'y close down iniesta - its on you tube all hype and posing limited talent there you go
SydneyChelsea Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 If anyone was to blame for Iniesta's goal, it would have to be Essien, sadly.
Preferisco la Coppa Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 He certainly had personality...for a GERMAN!!
PloKoon13 Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 He was a great player and I really enjoyed having him at Chelsea. I have fond memories of him doing an incredible job filling in for Lampard towards the end of Avram's season and destroying Man Utd at the Bridge.
Spiller86 Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 He was a great player and I really enjoyed having him at Chelsea. I have fond memories of him doing an incredible job filling in for Lampard towards the end of Avram's season and destroying Man Utd at the Bridge. Was just about to mention that Plok. Noone could ever question him of not having passion. I'd honestly say that match was one of the best wins we've had in years. There are plenty on here who put him in the scapegoat pile, all sideways passes, silly fouls etc. Honestly they miss the point. I think it's credit to the man that he was able to adjust his game to suit our style. The United game was a perfect example of how he could dominate a game if need be, but rarely because of Lampard's presence did he have the oppurtunity, so he simply slipped effortlessly into a role that we needed him to play. I'd honestly have kept him for another season, and I think we'll miss him more than many on here will give him credit for.
midlandblue Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 a world class player with a winning mentality will be missed
PloKoon13 Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Another great Ballack moment is when he broke the net with a scorcher of a penalty. I can't remember who it was against though.

That wasn't a jab at Deco at all just giving Gem a little stick , in fact OK enough I'm runing Gem's thread

But no matter, he's gone now.
