Uno Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I hope this is taken seriously unlike the carling cup. Its all well and good giving the kids a run out but not at the expense of the cup. Has any team won the FA cup 3 seasons in a row?
Alex Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I hope this is taken seriously unlike the carling cup. Its all well and good giving the kids a run out but not at the expense of the cup. Has any team won the FA cup 3 seasons in a row? I think Arsenal were on for winning it three years in a row a couple years back but they lost in the semi final to man utd, who went on to beat milwall. Would have been their fourth final in a row as wel. I also seem to remember that if you win it three times in a row you keep the trophy and they make a new one? Or was this arsenal fans calling for it to be the case?
bjd Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 To be fair we should have won it 3 times in a row - bear in mind who we lost to in 2008 and the quality of the teams left in at that stage too
Andreas Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Ipswich town at home, should not be a problem. Liverpool v Man Utd will be a cracker of a game this early.
Hutch Posted November 28, 2010 Author Posted November 28, 2010 Ipswich town at home, should not be a problem. You're right it shouldn't. Dare I suggest it'll be another opportunity to give a few of the youngsters a runout? The fact that Ipswich are currently managed by none other than Roy Keane adds just a little bit of spice to this tie.

Yeah, there's no way we should allow ourselves to do anything but completely humiliate any team managed by Roy Keane.
mad_mac Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Well, we all know that the FA Cup should never be seen like the Carling Cup, nor should any of these games be treated lightly. Ipswich with Roy Keane at the helm will be treating this exactly like they should: A Cup Final for them, with the chance to take out a large - albeit highly underperforming - scalp. I'd also like to see the Liverpool Man Utd game go to Man Utd, we need them in as many competitions aas possible. I'd also like to see Millwall beat Birmingham, just for the chance for us (assuming we progress) to be drawn against them
TheWestwayWonder Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Arsenal Leeds will be fun, Leicester v City worth keeping an eye on for a hell of an upset, and Man Utd Liverpool will surely be a blast. Im glad we have Ipswich at home. They seem to be alot better this year than last.
forbzy Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 To be fair we should have won it 3 times in a row - bear in mind who we lost to in 2008 and the quality of the teams left in at that stage too Actually that would have made it 4 in a row as we won it in 2007 2009, and last year.
Maverick Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Im glad we have Ipswich at home. They seem to be alot better this year than last. Lost the last 3 games they played in the championship prior to this weekend, so they aren't exactly setting the house on fire. I am happy with the draw and we should continue to give some of the youngsters a chance in the early stages of the FA Cup.
PloKoon13 Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Leicester v City worth keeping an eye on for a hell of an upset Agreed. And then hopefully we'll get drawn away to them in the next round. I bet you it'll happen after I leave uni...

Does make me laugh how Woy is moaning about the Man Utd V Liverpool tie ………….Don’t know what he is going on about , Liverpool’s season is always over by the end of January anyway ???

Does make me laugh how Woy is moaning about the Man Utd V Liverpool tie ………….Don’t know what he is going on about , Liverpool’s season is always over by the end of January anyway ??? I wasn't suggesting a Zilina type team, another start for McEachran and perhaps another one or two of the youngsters, depending on how things pan out over the next few weeks.
blizeH Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I hope this is taken seriously unlike the carling cup. Its all well and good giving the kids a run out but not at the expense of the cup. Given how stretched our squad is right now, we may not have a lot of option.
blueisthecolour85 Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Like any tie against lower league opposition you have to takw the game seriously as for them it is their biggest game of the season and will be well up for ti. I agree that our recent injuries may mean we can't afford to rest people, especially as it is coming straight after the busy Christmas period. Can't complain with a home draw though....
Spiller86 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 About to have a look at Ipswich now against Swansea. Will be interesting to see what they're like. Perhaps Sinclair will tear them a new one as he seems to be doing to many a Championship team this season.
