Van Persie goads Prem rivals

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has opened fire on Chelsea and Manchester City, accusing the Premier League's big spenders of having "big mouths".

Van Persie further committed his future to Arsenal by talking up his club's philosophy but he simultaneously reduced his prospects of joining some of England's other powerhouse clubs by criticising their cultures, having also labelled Barcelona and Chelsea serial complainers since joining the Netherlands camp for international duty this week.

Written off by many at the start of the season, Arsenal trail only Manchester United as the Premier League title race enters its final stretch. The fact that Arsene Wenger's carefully constructed Arsenal are contesting for the championship ahead of free-spending Chelsea and Manchester City is proof enough for Van Persie that Emirates Stadium remains the place to be, and he fired a few barbs at the Premier League's rich kids to emphasise the point.

"I still strongly believe in my club's philosophy," Van Persie said. "A club like Manchester City change their philosophy every year and Chelsea spent about €80million this season ... two clubs who had a big mouth before the season, thinking that Arsenal wouldn't play a role in the title race but we are still ahead of them. And just by playing our own game, through our own philosophy."

The Premier League title remains Arsenal's only hope of silverware after they lost the Carling Cup final to Birmingham then crashed out of the FA Cup and the Champions League in quick succession. Even though he is satisfied Wenger's project is heading in the right direction, he admits the team's failures have been disappointing and urged his team-mates to find the extra fraction of improvement required.

"We always do our best at Arsenal and always want to win," he said. "On a number of occasions we have been very close but, at the last moment, it's often not good enough. That's the reality. It's very frustrating when you lose, especially as a team when we're so close. But we have to look forward and now it's up to us to change all that. I firmly believe in the team, Arsenal and myself and I'm positive we will win prizes."

C'mon boyz, stuff him.

Can't wait till we finish above his joke of a team in May, mark my words it WILL happen. This is why I would prefer the Mancs to win the league, that club (Arsenal) reeks or arrogance. Don't know how we lost to such a poor excuse of a side in December, £50 down the drain. At least ourselves and Merc City are in competitions and have better fans.

It's difficult enough to ignore the paranoid rantings of Wenger but now the latest b.s. is being spouted by Van Persie. Since Arsenal were demolished by Barcelona the ranting continues. Apparently being kicked out of the Champions League and their recent loss of points in the EPL was too much to handle and Van Persie has gone berserk. Now the fingers are pointed at Chelsea by this raving lunatic.

This delusional outburst suggests Van Persie must be suffering from Dutch ELM disease - Extra Large Mouth.

Couldnt care less what he says to be honest, he is not exactly the most stand up person around.

I do think Arsenal have this mentality not to spend any money in fear of failing. That way they have this "our club has a philosphy" malarky to fall back on. Yet not winning anything for a few years with this mentality means nothing to them.

Ohhhh, the same RVP who makes Joe Cole look like an iron man?

To be fair I predicted Arsenal would be OUR closest rivals for the title.... if man u and us switched places I'd of gotten my prediction perfect so far!

If man u and us swapped places (in the league) i'd be a lot happier :JC_doubleup:

What an absolute gobsh*te, his team are one of the worst for whinging and crying after a game where the opposition dared to tackle them. He must have forgotten the CC final where Fabregas and others acted like 5 year olds who had their lollipops taken off them when losing. Also, Fabregas is the worst one in the league for moaning to refs over the most innocuous of challenges, flashing pretend cards etc. I hope his next sh*t is a cactus....

Perfect for Barca, eh?

His comments make our loss at Cashburden earlier in the season more painful to deal with, since, if we'd done the double over them, he wouldn't be opening his trap. And we'd be ahead of them on points.

Agree with some of the points here, we SHOULD over take them come May.

I hate rvp.

the way that whenever he comes back from injury scored 1 goal and is considered as being one of the best strikers in the world time after time pisses me off.

He's only having a pop because he knows arsenal wont win anything and just wants an excuse before the league table proves it.

Wasn't it RVP who got off with a certain charge that was levelled at him by the Police back in Holland ? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

And part two of my reply is a well known saying

"There's no smoke without fire"

Figure the rest out for yourselves............ :)

While in theory I am in favour of anything which works against our opponents, any Chelsea fan should know that this particular cliché is certainly not true when it comes to the media and vindictive rumours.

Oblivion, I can never read your posts as I just keep getting distracted by your avatar! Top stuff

Why do you think I keep posting stuff? :P

And yes, she's gorgeous (and married, bugger, bugger, sh*t, sh*t).

For those not in the know, her name is Leah Dezon. Google is your friend.

On point, looks like we're ahead of the Gooners now. All that remains is to pull ahead of them. Having said that, I DO want them to beat the Manc this weekened. They can then proceed to lose/draw their remaining 4 games. *fingers crossed*

He got the right hump at the end of yesterdays match, did`nt want to shake hands with the Bolton players....arrogant stroppy c`nunt :laugh2:

Just seen that in the highlights, what a penis. He must realise it looks the very image of the privileged southerner throwing his toys out of the pram when some cheeky northerners get the better of him.

Where's your philosophy now, Arsenal's puritanism is getting beyond a joke.

Silverwhere oh silverwhere, you ain't got no silverwhere

From emerites to everywhere, you ain't got no silverwhere
